Syndicate has been in development for more than two years, Electronic Arts and Starbreeze Studios revealed at EA's Vegas Showcase yesterday, and though the FPS reboot of the tactical strategy franchise was just recently announced, the game will be set for launch on February 21, 2012.

On the second day of the inaugural Vegas Showcase at The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, EA Partners producer Jeff Gamon and Starbreeze Studios CEO Mikael Nermark took the stage to talk Syndicate. The game's story is being penned by British sci-fi author Richard Morgan (the Takeshi Kovacs series), the duo announced, and it will ship in under six months.

"Why bring back Syndicate?" Gamon asked. "Because we wanted to brink back everything that made it great for today's gamers."

In development for Windows PCs, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, Syndicate is set in the year 2069, a time when mega corporations battle for control of the populace. The game will put players in the cybernetic shoes of Miles Kilo, a prototype agent for Eurocorp tasked with helping the company gain control of the lucrative American market.

Spy Guy says: We've got lots more to report on Syndicate after the Vegas Showcase, but EA politely asked us to keep our lips sealed until tomorrow. Stay tuned for more on this classic PC tactical strategy game turned multi-platform FPS.
