The fifth entry in the gonzo racing series, Burnout Paradise gives players license to wreak havoc in Paradise City, the ultimate racing battleground, with a massive infrastructure of traffic-heavy roads to abuse. Gone is the need to jump in and out of menus and aimlessly search for fun like many open world games; in Burnout Paradise, every inch of the world is built to deliver heart-stopping Burnout-style gameplay. Every intersection is a potential crash junction and every alleyway is an opportunity to rack up moving violations. Feel the adrenaline course through your veins as you take to the road for the first time in Paradise City, where the action is all around you. Explore the city, discover events, and look for the best opportunities to crash, jump and pull signature takedowns. In Burnout Paradise you are given the keys to the city, but it's up to you to earn the keys to the meanest and most dangerous cars on the street, and earn your Burnout license.

As we wipe away the solitary tear of sadness from our cheek we can confirm that Criterion does not plan to release anymore downloadable content for its excellent Burnout Paradise. Fair's fair. Coming in via an official tweet made by the developer, the inevitable news can be read after the jump. Read More »
An interesting post to the official Burnout Paradise portal sees developer Criterion talk about some of the wacky design plans for downloadable content that simply never got past the bigwigs' desks. Burnout Paradise is one of the best examples of how a developer can expand on a game's original release through DLC, but could we really have been mucking around with time travel, flying to the moon, planes, boats, and helicopters? June 11th is the day when fans of Criterion's 2008 racer Burnout Paradise will be able to finally get their hands on the all-new Big Surf Islanddownloadable content pack. Big Surf Island is a premium content pack (meaning you've got to part with cold hard cash to get it) and will add another gameplay area which is roughly the size of downtown Paradise City.
BSI features the biggest jumps in the game so far (see if you've got the stones to jump clean over the top of the massive Paradise City suspension bridge) and according to Criterion, it sports the mantra of "if you can see it, you can drive it." We're excited and you should be too. See more after the break. Read More »

Get the scoop on what it brings to the game inside. Read More »
A new racing game world record was set this past weekend in Glasgow, Scotland. According to Guinness World Records, the team of six lead by one Kirsten Kearney only took a few short breaks while successfully playing Criterion's racer Burnout Paradise from 10 a.m. Saturday through 10 a.m. the following day.
"A proud and exhausted Kearney said:
I am so thankful to our team and supporters from Ready Up for seeing this challenge through.'" Read More »
