Basics

Those Folks Are Deadly, But Not Dead...
A lot of the enemies in the game simply will not die. These enemies are known as "Ghosts." You will have to run to avoid these monstrosities, even though it may be an extreme annoyance whenever you have to backtrack. Let's face it: they will be there whether you shoot them, stab them, or give them backbreakers no matter what, so why waste your time or your ammunition when they will be there regardless? Only take them down when noted in the walkthrough.

But Don't Confuse Them With Monsters!
The monsters in the game can be disposed of easily, by simply killing them. The Ghosts cannot be killed unless done so by an ancient sword, so try not to worry about them for now. How can you tell the difference, you ask? It's simple: monsters look like something you'd see in a Silent Hill game, and ghosts look like a zombie in a Resident Evil game. While you shouldn't kill every monster you see, it might be a wise idea to fight around half of them.

Save Point!? Where Is The Save Point!?
Unlike traditional Silent Hill games, where Save Points are scattered throughout the land as glowing Satanic symbols of love, you will only have one save point throughout the entire game: the one inside of Apartment 302. Do not flip out just yet, however, as you will travel back and forth to the apartment several times throughout the game, and you will be able to save before those epic boss battles.

Continue, Foo'!
One of the best parts of the game is that, whenever you die, the game will alter the enemies to be a little bit easier. On the Easy difficulty, whenever you die by a creature, you will notice that the enemies are much, much weaker than before. On the Normal difficulty, the enemies will be slightly toned down, and on the Hard difficulty, don't expect to notice much of a difference.

More On Ghosts
If you would still like to know more about these ghastly creatures, here's a little more information: ghosts can follow you from room to room at times, making things a lot more difficult. There are four types of weapons/ammunition that can eliminate ghosts permanently or temporally. These weapons are the Swords Of Obedience, Silver Bullets, Holy Candles, and Saint Medallions. It is wise to save all of these weapons for later in the game, as believe it or not, things will get tougher.

Save Your Healing Items
For the first half of the game, you will have to save all of your healing items. Unlike in Silent Hills of the past, healing items and ammunition is very scarce all the way through the game. The reason you don't need to use your healing items is the fact that you can return to your apartment and it will fully heal you after a little bit of time. After you have reached the fifth world, however, your apartment will no longer sport those sweet healing ducts, in which you'll need all of those healing items that you've gathered.

We No Longer Have Infinite Pockets
Unlike traditional Silent Hill games, you will actually have to backtrack to throw things inside of your Inventory Chest in the room. There are tunnels that you can crawl thru all throughout the game that lead back to your room, so while the backtracking is still there, it's not as annoying as it could be. Only take what you can afford to have with you, or things that you will use in the immediate future.
