Onimusha 3: Demon Siege

Great!

The team which brought the original Onimusha into being delivers a controllable, beautifully shot, Hong Kong paced action movie to the PS2. Read Review

Third installment in Capcom's popular ninja-vs-monsters themed action adventure series. Samanosuke plays exactly like he did in the first game. The game breaks free from the pre-rendered camera system of the predecessor to serve up a much faster and action-focused game experience. Main star Samanosuke plays much like he did in the first game, but the new second character Jaques (featuring the likeness of Jean Reno), is a much different type of experience. In control of an energy whip, Jacques can smack his enemies high and low and even grab them in a python-like grip for additional maneuvers. The game will feature locales ranging from feudal Japan to modern-day Paris, France.

PS2 Reviews | Apr 26, 2004

Or, maybe it's just the licensed features of Japanese star Takeshi Kaneshiro, last seen as textures on the model of Samanosuke from the first Onimusha. Apparently, though, the folks at Capcom didn't think one polygon-ized real-world leading man was enough, so Onimusha 3 gives us two hunksa-hunksa burnin' love with which to take on the evil Nobunaga and his army of Genma warriors. From across the pond, Frenchman and action film star Jean Reno lends his features -- and, sadly, only a miniscule amount of his voice talent -- to Samanosuke's side of the Oni (the good guys) vs. Genma (the bad guys) war. Not only are these heroes paired from across the world, but from across time; Jean Reno's features playing the part of Jacques, a tough-talkin' Parisian cop from 2004 who gets sucked into Samanosuke's time just as our samurai-hero finds himself pulled forward into modern Paris. Much like the majority of residents in Los Angeles, Onimusha has gone under the knife. All the unwanted cellulite seems to have been suctioned off, the collagen and saline look natural, and the scarring appears to be minimal. Making several wise decisions to pick up the pace and enhance the story elements, Onimusha 3 Demon Siege could very well end up the leading lady of the series instead of finding itself a comfortable street corner on which to ply its trade.
