Midway's Mortal Kombat is one of the most successful fighting game series of all time. With a vast cast of characters, unforgettable violence, and pioneering gameplay, it's easy to see why, I'd go as far to say that it's the only consequential fighter developed by Westerners. That said, when developers have attempted to translate the fighting fun into excellent action, the results have been poor (see Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat Special Forces). Ed Boon and company -- who had nothing to do with those crap MK games, by the way -- are on a mission to create an outstanding Mortal Kombat action game. After getting a sneak peak of Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, I'd say there's a great chance that Boon's team will achieve their goal. Shaolin Monks looks really slick and has tons of potential.
