Fans of classic arcade games sure had a lot to be thankful for when Midway released Midway Arcade Treasures. After all, it contained 24 classic arcade games for the low, low price of $20. And that "classic" label isn't being thrown around lightly. Aside from a couple of duds (Blaster?), all the games were still great fun to play.

It turns out that Midway isn't finished yet. The aptly named Midway Arcade Treasures 2 contains another 20 arcade hits, and for the most part, there are just as many big names in this collection than the last one.

Totally Awesome Videogames

The best way to give you a preview of MAT2 is to run down each title and let you see what you'll be getting for your $20 (yep, this one is value priced, too). Here's what you can expect to play.

A.P.B.

One of only two single player only games in the collection, you control a police car from an overhead perspective as you cruise around arresting the bad guys. You must fulfill your arrest quota within the time limit, but you can always stop at a donut shop to gain some extra time (because, you know, cops like donuts).

Arch Rivals

Years before there was NBA Jam, there was Arch Rivals. This cartoony basketball game has no fouls, so feel free to punch your opponent to steal the ball. Although the game does follows the rules of the sport, it's definitely a lot less serious.

Just be glad that the second Mortal Kombat is better than the second Mortal Kombat movie.

Championship Sprint

This is the sequel to Super Sprint, which was on the previous MAT. Race your tiny car around a track. Simple, but wildly addictive.

Cyberball 2072

This futuristic version of football features teams comprised of robot instead of humans. It plays pretty much like football except that the ball will go critical if you don't defuse it by running across midfield or by scoring a touchdown.

Gauntlet 2

Remember the Warrior, Elf, Wizard, and Valkyrie? Well, they still need food badly, and you have to lead them through 100 new mazes battling all sorts of new monsters as they attempt to find the treasure and the exit.

Hard Drivin'

This is the other single-player only game here. This early polygonal driving game isn't as impressive as it once was, but it's still fun in that retro way. Take your car through the Speed Track or the loop and jump filled Stunt Track. You gotta love watching the crash replays.

Kozmik Krooz'r

A bizarre and little seen game where you control a cartoon alien who's trying to reach his mothership. Dodge and shoot enemy ships while waiting for the mothership's tractor beam to pull you to safety.

Mortal Kombat II

Do we need to explain MK2 to you? Widely believed to be the best of the 2D Mortal Kombat games, we finally get to play it in all it's arcade glory. The original MK was slated to be in this collection, but it will now be featured in a deluxe edition of the upcoming Mortal Kombat: Deception.

Mortal Kombat 3

MK3 was definitely the silliest game of the bunch. Between the Animalities, Friendships, and Babalities (not the mention Stryker), this is the MK game that will get the most chuckles out of you. Whether that's a good thing or not is up to you.
