Quantum Conundrum

Good

How far can a cool gameplay mechanic carry a game? Read Review

In the first-person puzzle platformer Quantum Conundrum , players must use the unusual ability to shift dimensions to navigate the twisting corridors of Quadwrangle Manor. Players take on the role of a young kid dropped off on his uncle's doorstep for the weekend; his uncle just so happens to be the brilliant, eccentric inventor, Professor Fitz Quadwrangle. Upon entering the Professor's vast manor home retrofitted with crazy technology to test his latest hypotheses, players quickly realize their uncle has gone missing. Fortunately, players soon gain access to Professor Quadwrangle's latest invention, the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device, which, at the press of a button, will shift the world around them to an entirely new dimension. In order to find him, players must use the newly found IDS Device to dynamically change the world to and from a variety of different dimensions to progress through the complicated Quadwrangle Manor. While on the journey, becoming adept at utilizing the various dimensions will help them trek from one bizarre and challenging room to the next. It might sound easy enough, but it is a tall order for a kid in a giant puzzle of a manor!

Quantum Conundrum DLC: IKE-ing Up The Puzzles

PC News | Sep 16, 2012

I spent ages trying to think of a punnier way of employing an IKE-related joke in relation to Quantum Conundrum's newest DLC, but I simply can't beat the name "IKE-Aramba!" So, yeah, you should probably go lather your adoration and your money upon that instead. Oh, there's new puzzles, too. Read More »

Two New Content Packs for Quantum Conundrum Coming

PC News | Jul 24, 2012

They say that a good way to keep the mind fresh is to work your way through puzzles daily. If that's true, more Quantum Conundrum will keep my brain nice and young. My youthful vigor will only continue to grow with the release of two new DLC packs for the first-person puzzler. The alliterative Desmond Debacle is coming July 31, and the pun-alicious IKE-aramba! will drop August 28. Read More »

Steam has demos for Quantum Conundrum, Civilization V: Gods & Kings, Risen 2: Dark Waters, and Magic: The Gathering Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, all of which have been released in the past couple of weeks. Just don't forget to throw the burgers on the grill, okay? The kids are getting hungry. Read More »

Quantum Conundrum Review

PC Reviews | Jun 21, 2012

Quantum Conundrum is many things -- an innovative puzzler, a follow-up project from Portal's Kim Swift, a lesson in bad parenting skills. Seriously, who leaves their kid on the doorstep of a crazy uncle whose house is a labyrinth of murderous puzzles? It also has its share of little annoyances, not the least of which is a poor narrative and puzzles that feature one of my most-hated gameplay mechanics. As such, Conundrum's conundrum (see what I did there?) is that it creates some unnecessary frustration around some really great ideas. Read More »

Quantum Conundrum Trailer Introduces Ike

PC News | May 31, 2012

D'aww! Lookit that little guy and his crazy inter-dimensional powers. Say hello to Ike, the furry dude that runs around the mansion/laboratory of the mad scientist Professor Fitz Quadwrangle in Airtight Game's upcoming Quantum Conundrum. While you play as a 12-year-old boy on the search for the Professor, Ike will be running around, probably not helping very much as you switch around the multiple dimensions in order to solve a bunch of crazy puzzles. My suspicion is that Ike will feel the most comfortable in the Fluffy dimension, but then again, who wouldn't? Read More »

Features

  • Engaging Puzzle Gameplay: Using the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device, players will shift to and from various dimensions to manipulate the world around them and clear levels with increasing degrees of difficulty.
  • Experience New Dimensions: Each dimension the player gains access to becomes a valuable asset to manipulate objects in the manor in a specific way. For example, the Fluffy Dimension makes heavy objects ten times lighter, enabling players to move what was once an immovable safe from one place to the next.
  • Immersive, Interactive Environment: In addition to the various dimensions allowing the player to learn new skills and techniques, the look and feel of each dimension is completely distinct. When shifting to the Fluffy Dimension, everything in the room becomes soft and plushy like a cuddly version of its previous state. Every dimension carries its own atmosphere, letting the player feel like they are truly in the world.
  • Unique Art Style and Humor: The Professor’s manor and all the items within it have a unique style, but that’s not all. Players should be on the lookout for humorous touches and jokes scattered throughout the manor home. Who wouldn’t want to know what the infamous Professor Quadwrangle looks like in the Fluffy Dimension?
