Items

Your one stop reference for everything usable and findable in Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time.

Healing Items
Healing items will help keep you alive against the onslaught of Shroobs and other enemies. If you ever see you HP getting low or find an enemy too strong for you, reach for one of these bad boys.

Mushrooms
Mushrooms are your standard healing item. Using one will restore Heart Points to an individual character. There are several varieties of Mushrooms.
  • Regular Mushroom: Restore 20 HP.
  • Super Mushroom: Restore 40 HP
  • Ultra Mushroom: Restore 80 HP
  • Max Mushroom: Restore all HP

1-Up Mushrooms
If one of your party members loses all of their Heart Points, they will get KO'd. To bring them back, use a 1-Up Mushroom. There are two types of 1-Up Mushrooms.
  • Regular 1-Up Mushroom: Revive with half HP.
  • Super 1-Up Mushroom: Revive with full HP.

Mushroom Drops
Mushroom Drops work much the same way as normal Mushrooms. The difference is that they heal everyone in your party instead of just a single person. Mushroom drops come in three varieties.
  • Regular Mushroom Drop: 15 HP to All
  • Super Mushroom Drops: 20 HP to All
  • Ultra Drops: 60 HP to All

Refreshing Herbs
Refreshing Herbs will cure all status effects on the Bros. Make sure you carry several of these around with you at all time so that you won't get stuck with a debilitating affliction. Herbs cost 15 Coins at the Shroom Shop.

Peppers
Ok, so they aren't really healing items. But they will help keep you alive. Peppers can be used to boost your stats for a brief amount of time. Save these for when you are in a pinch (i.e. almost dead) or for when you are battling the big bosses.
  • Red Pepper: Boosts Power briefly
  • Blue Pepper: Boosts Speed briefly
  • Green Pepper: Boosts Defense briefly

Attack Items
These items are used in battles to help take down your enemies. Read below for a description and some tips on how to get the most out of each attack item.

Green Shells
Green Shells are the first attack item you will find in the game. Once the shell is fired, it will bounce off of the enemy and go back towards the bro who didn't fire it. If Luigi used the Green Shell, then you have to press the A Button when the shell bounces back towards Mario to kick the shell back. If you don't kick the shell back, the attack will end. Each time you kick the shell, it will move faster until it moves too fast for you to react in time.

If you have the babies with you, the one with the initial attacker will ride along on top of the shell. If Luigi fires the Green Shell, Baby Luigi will ride on top of it. Press the baby's corresponding button when the shell strikes the enemy for an added attack. You should always use them if you find your regular attack is too weak. This way, you can wind up getting a ton of smaller attacks in which will deal more damage.

Remember, Green Shells only work on land enemies. If the enemy you targeted dies, then the attack will end. Green Shells cost 10 Coins at the Shroom Shop.

Bro Flowers
Bro Flowers are easy to use and work great against a number of enemies. When you use them, a large flame will go into one of the Bros. hands and a smaller in the other. These will occasionally switch to the other Bro. Tap the button of whoever is holding the large flame as fast as you can. When the flame switches, switch with it. The more times you send a large fireball out, the more damage you will deal.

Red Shells
Red Shells work exactly like Green Shells with one important difference. Rather than ending the attack when one foe dies, the Red Shell will target a new enemy and allow you to continue attacking. Make sure you don't miss a kick with a Red Shell and you can wipe out a large group of baddies.

Ice Flowers
Ice Flowers work exactly like Bro Flowers. However, they will generally cause more damage towards heat-type enemies. If an enemy is from the desert or has a natural color of red, they will be more likely to take damage from an Ice Flower.

Smash Eggs
Smash Eggs must be bicycle kicked at the enemy. After the first kick, watch to see where the egg is headed. Hold down the attack button of the Bro. that it is flying towards and release it to kick just before the egg gets to you. This item can't target a single enemy, so use it when you want to do widespread, general damage. After a while, this item will crack and sometimes reward you with another item for making it through the attack sequence.

Pocket Chomps
When you use a Pocket Chomp, the babies will ride by on the Chomp chasing an adult. As they go by, press the adult's attack button to do a stomp attack. As the babies ride by, hit the attack button of whichever baby is in the back to swing the hammer for an extra hit.

Cannonballers
Cannonballers will only target a single enemy and are extremely powerful. We recommend you reserve these for boss battles. By using them, all four teammates will hop into a cannon and get fired into the air. Press the correct button as they fall in order to do four strong stomp attacks.

Trampolines
This attack item works just like a Cannonballer, but it keeps repeating as long as you don't make a mistake. The Bros. will continually stomp attack and then jump into the air using the trampoline. Watch the top screen and hit the right button as they fall to get an attack in. If you make a mistake, the Trampoline will be knocked out of the way and you'll only get three more stomps with the Bros. who are still in the air. You can't direct this attack, so use it on large parties that you'd like to weaken.

Copy Flowers
When you use a Copy Flower, all of the Bros. will be cloned into a near infinite number. They'll begin rushing the enemy and you need to press the attack button of the correct Bro as they land. If you don't hit the right button, the attack will end. Each successful attack will cause the time between attacks to speed up, meaning you'll have to be fast with your finger to keep the attack going. These items are extremely useful for the bosses at the end of the game. Make sure you carry these around in large numbers as soon as you find them and can purchase them.

Mix Flowers
These flowers work just like Bro Flowers. However, the babies will take part in the attack. Keep hitting the button of the character with the large flame and you'll build up a giant fireball above the enemies. If you get a large enough ball of fire, the results can be devastating on your opponent.

Equpment
These tables will give you every item in the game that you can equip, except for those that you must acquire at Fawful's Shop. This includes Badges, which can do wonders for improving your abilities, and Clothes, which will improve your defense. Note that all quoted costs are if you have 0 for a Stache rating.

Special Items

Beans
Beans can be found throughout the Mushroom Kingdom, but can't be used directly by the Mario Bros. They can be used as cash in the Badge Shop.

Cobalt Star Shards
The Cobalt Star powers Professor E. Gadd's time machine. When the Shroob army laid the smackdown on the Mushroom Kingdom, the Cobalt Star broke into six pieces. Your primary goal in the game is to collect them so that you can once again use the Time Machine to save Princess Peach.
