The impending release of EA Sports' Def Jam Vendetta had wrestling game fans salivating. For GameCube owners, Wrestlemania X8 was a major disappointment, and Legends of Wrestling is, well ... Legends of Wrestling. Hardcore Nintendofiles were hungry for something a little more old-school. Def Jam's wrestling engine is identical, sans minor "updates," to that of the popular THQ/AKI games WCW Revenge, Wrestlemania 2000, and WWF No Mercy, originally released for the N64. As a fan myself, it would be nice to pronounce Def Jam Vendetta as a triumphant return to such fake-fighting goodness.
