The 2024 Olympic Games men's golf tournament begins on Thursday, August 1 in Paris with some of the sport's biggest names representing their countries. Team GB will be represented by Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick.

The men’s golf tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games begins on Thursday morning, with the first of 20 groups teeing off at 8am BST.
The event takes place at Le Golf National, the course which hosted the Ryder Cup in 2018, and will see some of the sport's biggest stars represent their countries.
Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele represent the USA and head to Paris as the two favourites to claim the gold medal, ahead of Spain’s Jon Rahm and Ireland’s Rory McIlroy.

When do Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler tee off?

World number one Scheffler will tee off alongside No. 3 McIlroy and No. 4 Aberg in a thrilling three-ball at 9.11am on Thursday.
The American is favourite to win gold after claiming six PGA Tour victories this season, including perhaps the most prestigious major in the sport, The Masters.
The group will be the seventh to tee off at Le Golf National on Thursday.

Unlike Scheffler, Irishman McIlroy heads into the tournament on disappointing form having missed the cut in the Open Championship in Scotland as he struggled to deal with high winds.
Speaking ahead of the Games, McIlroy detailed what winning a gold medal in Paris would mean to him.
“For me it’s well documented I haven’t won one of the big four in 10 years so it [a gold medal in Paris] would be one of, if not the biggest, achievements of my career in the last 10 years,” said the four-time major winner.
McIlroy narrowly missed out on an Olympic medal last time out in the Tokyo Games, where he finished fourth.
He added: “I was really close to winning a medal last time - I said I'd never tried as hard to finish third in my life - so once you're in there and especially if you are in contention for a medal, you feel the buzz of it and it's really cool.”

When does Rahm tee off?

Rahm heads into the Olympic Games after an impressive win at the United Kingdom event of LIV Golf on Sunday.
The win was the first for the Spaniard since claiming victory at The Masters in April 2023, and his debut win in LIV Golf, which he joined in December.
Rahm will play alongside 2020 gold medalist Schauffele, who comes to Paris off the back of winning both the PGA Championship and The Open in the past three months.
The blockbuster three-ball is completed by Norway’s Viktor Hovland, who currently sits seventh in the official world golf rankings.

Who is representing Team GB and when do they play?

Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick will compete for Great Britain in the men’s Olympic gold tournament.
Stockport’s Fleetwood will tee off at 8.44am with the USA's Wyndham Clark and Japan’s Hidecki Matsuyama, while Fitzpatrick tees off at 11.06am alongside home nation hopeful Matthieu Pavon and America’s Collin Morikawa.
Fleetwood, who finished T16 in the Tokyo Olympic Games, spoke about his excitement to once again play for his country in Paris.
He said: “Since we left Tokyo in 2021, I’ve wanted to hear the news that I’ve been selected to represent Team GB again!

“An incredibly proud moment in my career and I can’t wait to be in Paris this summer with the rest of Team GB.”
Paris 2024 will be Fitzpatrick’s first time competing at the Olympic Games but, while he is excited to represent Team GB alongside Fleetwood, the pair will be out for themselves in Paris.
“It’s an individual tournament,” Fitzpatrick said.
“We’re both playing against each other at the end of the day. He’d say the same thing. If it was a team event, we’d discuss the strategy, for sure we would. Yeah, I think we’re both just looking forward to the experience.”
