Manchester United eased into the last-16 of the Carabao Cup with a 7-0 thrashing of Barnsley at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag was encouraged by his Manchester United team’s "bond" as they thrashed Barnsley 7-0 to reach the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.
The Dutchman fielded a much-changed team at Old Trafford, but they rewarded him with his biggest victory since arriving at the club.
“I think it was enjoyable to watch,” Ten Hag told MUTV.
“You could feel again the good bond between the team and the fans, and we gave the fans some nice goals.
“When we have the right shape, we can find the spaces where we can play. Then we are really compact, we can press as a team towards the ball and then I think it’s difficult for every team to play against us, so we are hard to beat and that’s the way we should act.”
Marcus Rashford, Christian Eriksen and Alejandro Garnacho helped themselves to two goals each, while Antony scored from the penalty spot.
Rashford now has three goals in his last two matches after scoring against Southampton in the Premier League last time out, and Ten Hag is impressed with how the England international is striving to get back to his best.
“In my first season, also he had this vibe and this good mood. When I see Marcus Rashford, I’m composed and I’m confident that he will score.
“We want to progress and be better, we are very ambitious, we want to go forward as a team. Also individual players, Marcus Rashford wants to score goals and that is what I saw. But not only Marcus Rashford, it’s the whole team and they are really hungry looking for goals,” Ten Hag said.

A Carabao Cup record was set as Preston shocked Fulham by beating them 16-15 in the longest penalty shoot-out in the competition’s history.
The match had finished 1-1 in normal time, before Ryan Ledson eventually struck the winning spot kick after Timothy Castagne’s effort went sailing over the crossbar for Fulham.

Fabio Carvalho scored his first Brentford goal with a stunning overhead kick to help his new club win 3-1 at home to Leyton Orient.
Eddie Nketiah and Eberechi Eze were on the scoresheet for Crystal Palace in a 2-1 win against Queens Park Rangers, while Di'Shon Bernard got the winner as Sheffield Wednesday beat Blackpool 1-0 at Bloomfield Road.
