The new-look UEFA Champions League opened with a bang on Tuesday evening. Juventus sparkled at home against Eredivisie champions PSV, running out 3-1 winners in Turin. Meanwhile, Harry Kane scored four goals as Bayern Munich demolished Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb 9-2. Elsewhere, Aston Villa had a Champions League debut to remember with a fine performance in Switzerland against Young Boys.

Harry Kane netted four as Bayern Munich survived a brief scare to demolish Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 at the Allianz Arena.
Michael Olise bagged a brace on his Bayern Munich debut as Raphael Guerreiro, Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka also found themselves on the scoresheet.
The result meant Bayern broke the record for the most goals scored by a single team in a UEFA Champions League fixture and Kane became the competition's highest English scorer.
Both Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry had the ball in the back of the net within 17 minutes, but the Germans had strayed marginally offside.
But a trip on youngster Aleksandar Pavlovic in the build-up to Gnabry’s effort gave Kane the opportunity from the spot to get off the mark in another Champions League campaign.
A tremendous half-volley from Guerreiro and a Michael Olise header put the hosts firmly in control and 3-0 up by half-time.
Then, in the space of two crazy second-half minutes, Dinamo reduced the deficit to one, as first captain Bruno Petkovic and then full-back Takuya Ogiwara beat substitute keeper Sven Ulreich.
But their spirited comeback would not last long, with Kane slotting home a rebound, Olise grabbing his second and the English striker completing his quartet with a brace of penalties.
Sane added the cherry on the top of an already towering cake with a trademark left-footed drive from the edge of the box.
Earlier, Juventus made their mark on the opening night of the new-look Champions League, sweeping aside PSV by a comfortable 3-1 scoreline.
Not since 2021 were Juventus victorious in their opening fixture in the competition, but the two-time winners were in devastating form against Peter Bosz's side.
Teenage forward Kenan Yildiz sparked the victory, becoming Juventus' youngest ever Champions League scorer by curling home a gorgeous strike after 20 minutes.
American midfielder Weston McKennie soon doubled the hosts' advantage, side-footing Nicolas Gonzalez' deflected pull-back into the net.
Gonzalez turned goalscorer shortly after half-time, an incisive ball from Dusan Vlahovic putting the Argentine through for a simple lifted finish.
A fine driven effort from PSV substitute Ismael Saibari was little more than a consolation, even if it marked the first goal conceded by the Italians this season.
In the other early evening kick-off, Aston Villa made light work of Young Boys in Bern, finding the net five times in a comprehensive 3-0 victory.
Youri Tielemans’ well-worked opener preceded a comical series of events from which Jacob Ramsey profited, sliding the ball in off the post at the end of a bizarre defensive mix-up.
And though VAR denied both Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran goals on their Champions League debuts for handball, Amadou Onana wrapped up the victory with a sumptuous low strike from range.
Real Madrid needed a late double to avoid dropping points at home to Stuttgart, as Kylian Mbappe scored his first Champions League goal in Galactico white.
The Frenchman tapped in Rodrygo’s cross immediately after half-time, but Deniz Undav struck for the visitors to set up a trademark late escape from the La Liga champions.
Luka Modric expertly found Antonio Rudiger’s head from a corner in the 83rd minute, before Endrick finished off a lightning counter-attack in stoppage time for a 3-1 win.
Liverpool came from behind at the San Siro to beat old foes AC Milan 3-1, as the visitors’ centre-backs rose to the occasion.
Former Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic gave Milan an early lead, but Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk thumped home a pair of first-half corners.
Dominik Szoboszlai steered in Cody Gakpo’s cross midway through the second period to ensure Arne Slot and his men left Italy with all three points.
And in Lisbon, Zeno Debast laid down an early claim for goal of the season as Sporting defeated Lille 2-0.
The 20-year-old defender arrowed an unerring, long-range effort straight into the top corner after former Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres had given the hosts a first-half lead.
Recently-capped England international Angel Gomes saw red for the Ligue 1 side, picking up a second bookable offense shortly after Gyokeres' goal.
