Rubber Band Prop Powered Toy Glider Airplane In 1950's Dime Store Package This vintage flying toy is powered by winding up a rubber band propeller. Its unusual construction makes it look like an ultra-light kite plane. The fuselage frame is made with two metal tube ends, each holding a wood reed stick parallel to each other. One has the propeller mount with a wide blade plastic propeller and wire, with a small bead for a bearing. A rubber band attaches to the propeller and is stretched to the back frame piece between the two wood sticks.
See Photo Below The wing frame is another wood reed stick, tied perpendicular to each fuselage stick with strings. The wings are an early type of vinyl plastic cloth, that are slipped over the wood frame members. Very archaic hand made construction. It is in a clear bag with a top display tag stapled on. It says, Plastic Glider, and Made in Taiwan, Republic of China. It is 7 ½ inches long and a wing span of 6 inches. The prop is 6 inches long. The rubber band is dried out but easily replaced. Minor age patina discoloring on wing, otherwise, Perfect Condition. We pack it securely and send it First Class U.S. Postal.
