Hudson Hall Science Building Addition and Reconstruction
SUNY Plattsburgh
Plattsburgh, NY
We led the design team for this large two phase project housing the main science and laboratory spaces at SUNY Plattsburgh. The existing Hudson Hall building was reconstructed for class, lecture and lab space for Environmental Sciences, Physics, Astronomy and Biology, as well as departmental offices and a renovated planetarium. The new addition is home to class laboratories, Chemistry research space and the Lake Champlain Research Institute. Both phases provide strategically located bright student lounges and elegant corridors.
The two story addition incorporates materials inspired by the existing building and features an atrium linking the pedestrian bridge to the pond centered landscape of the old campus across from the Hawkins Hall building, a preservation/ reconstruction project also completed by ENVISION.. This project has resulted in an exciting building complex devoted to the sciences.
