Frosty Friends: Double Snow Globe Inspiration

We are excited to feature two amazing ideas today on the blog featuring "Snow Globes". Both Sharm and Amanda created a couple of darling projects with the new Frosty Friends Collection. You will want to share these to copy for later!!

Snow Globe Window Cards
by Amanda Coleman

Christmastime is (sort of) almost here and that means it's time to start cranking out holiday cards.  Inspired by the snow globe sticker in the Frosty Friends collection, I made a trio of bright and happy snow globe window cards to send to friends and family this Christmas season.

Is there anything cuter than a Doodlebug snowman?  I used the adorable die cut snowmen from the Mix & Match Snowmen Craft Kit as the focal point of each of these snow globe window cards.

I started with a card base and die cut a circle in the front of the card.  I then trimmed a white panel and die cut a circle slightly larger than the one in the card so it would create a nice border around the snow globe.

Each card has a complete scene on the inside.  I adhered a piece of patterned paper on the inside of the card and then trimmed a piece of sugar coated cardstock to create the snow.  I assembled and adhered the snowman to the background and added some fun sticker details.

I die cut the snow globe bases from woodgrain patterned paper from the Friendly Forest collection.  As an alternate to die cutting, you can simply cut a strip of patterned paper at an angle.

I chose not to use any foam squares or add any dimensional embellishments on these cards so they would be nice and flat and easy to mail.  If you are giving these cards in person, pop up some elements of the snowman or add some fun embellishments to add texture and dimension to the cards.
Use the print and cut function on your die cutting machine to create a custom sentiment.  Mat your sentiment with cardstock to really make your sentiment pop.  Don't have an electronic die cutting machine?  Bend your clear stamps to follow the lines of a curvy banner.

Hi there!! Have you seen the Frosty Friends collection yet? Isn't it absolutely adorable?! it reminds me so much of the Animated Movie Frozen! :) What I made using this collection is an altered globe. Looks like my Christimas Tree will have a new addition to it's many ornaments this year!

Here's the globe I created:

How I Made This:
First, I cut out a 4."circle from the patterned paper
Then I embellished it by creating a snow background and added the other stickers
I used washi tape to secure the globe together
Tied some twine on the top

Frosty Friends: Sticker Collage Card

I wish I could say "brrr", but it's SO hot right now! It's unseasonably warm here in Carmel, CA and it has been like 90 degrees! None of us have AC so it has been.. interesting. But that hasn't stopped me! Courtney from Court's Crafts here with a card to share! I fell in love with the embellishments in this collection and wanted to showcase as many of them as possible!

Frosty Friends is SUCH a darling collection! Doesn't it just scream "Frozen!?" Well, today I am channeling my inner (fellow DT member) Melinda Spinks and I created an embellishment cluster. The card is supposed be a decomposed snow globe. Can you see it?

My little circle of love. Isn't. It. So. Cute.? I used Melinda's idea of putting down a circle and indenting around it slightly to give me my edge. You can see it slightly where the bird is top right and also bottom left. You cannot see it at all in person.

You can also see the sparkles in the pink and dark blue sprinkles

The sentiment was made up of a section on the fancy frills (winter) and "warm" and "winter" are teensy type letters in lily white and blue jean.

Check out all the dimension and sparkle! The sprinkle shapes are fantastic (snowflakes) and the sugar coating on the bird's earmuffs. yum. The little sugar coated dots are on the icons sheet and the one held by the paperclip was part of the fancy frills. :)

The glitter accents on this collection are AMAZING! Here is the sentiment and winter is covered in sugar coating. Scrumptious.

I thought I would show you the overall dimension of the card.

Frosty Friends: Winter Fun Layout

Hi Everyone!  It's Kathy today with a layout I created using the new Frosty Friends Collection.  I love the colors of this collection, they are some of my all-time favorites! They were perfect for these pictures of my family dog sledding up in New Hampshire a few years back.

I opted to go with a Project -Life like layout so that I could showcase more of the papers and embellishments.   I started by framing my background paper with some of the new Frosty Friends washi tapes.  I used some Chevron Sugar Coated Cardstock to cut some Insta frames for my pictures and some Sprinkles Vellum to create some coordinating snowflakes.  I love how all Doodlebug uses the same colors across multiple collections, it makes it so easy to mix and match!

The Frosty Friends Icon Stickers and Doodlepops are too cute!  I adore the little penguins!  I also love the new Sprinkles!  They're sparkly!!

For my title, I used the Winter Stickers from the This and That Sticker Sheet, and added some Lily White Chippers to complete it!

And no Doodlebug winter collection would be complete without the adorable little snowmen!!  There are snowmen stickers, Doodlepops and Sprinkles!!  That's it for me today!  Make sure to keep stopping by the Doodlebug blog for more Frosty Friends inspiration!  Thanks for stopping by.

Santa Express: We 'Washi' You a Merry Christmas

I know, I know... that wasn't a very clever title but I just couldn't resist! It's Melinda with you today and yes, it's time to drag out that washi tape again. I'm determined to make sure you put your rolls of tape to good use instead of having them collect dust from being overlooked. And what better way than to create fun Christmas cards that require very little planning and not a great deal of time. Perfect!

 Recipe:

1. First things first... cut/score/fold all your cards using white cardstock and measuring 4" x 5".
2. Layer your strips of washi tape to the front of each cards. I left a 3/4" margin at the top and bottom.

3. Turn the cards over and cut off your excess tape using a new blade on your craft knife.

4. Using more white card stock, cut a front panel for each of your cards measuring 3.5" x 4.5".
5. Cut your Christmas shape from each panel.
6. Decorate the front of each panel and then using foam pop dots adhere to the front of your cards.

You can create any shape you like but remember to keep it quite simple as the washi tape needs to be the main feature and you don't want to spend hours cutting out intricate details. Christmas cards need to be fun, simple and easy to make otherwise it's probably more cost effective with your time and money to use store bought cards... and where's the fun in that?

Ingredients:
- Sprinkles Shapes (Holly Berries)
- Doodles Cardstock Stickers (Merry Christmas - Lily White)
- Washi Tape (Sweethearts)
- Washi Tape (Santa Express)
- Washi Tape ( Candy Stripe assortment)
