There is a chair next to me with a pile of stuff on it. Minutes ago, it decided to come crashing down on me. In that pile is a shirt jacket, which got me thinking of this new meme: 3 Things You Haven’t Let Go. List your three things, then tag three other bloggers. Don’t forget to link to the person that tagged you! And, of course, a link to the originator of the meme (me, so far as I know) would be appreciated as well.
My 3 Things I Haven’t Let Go
1) The shirt jacket that hasn’t been washed (or worn!) since the last time I held and carried Snowflake before he died. Snowflake was a male white cat who developed CRF. He passed away in spring of 2000.
2) The blank page on my Newton from the day Button died. I had been playing games on it while sitting with her in what turned out to be her last night. Button was a female Siamese cat who had been stricken with kidney failure and lived only a couple months after the diagnosis. She passed away on October 1, 2004.
3) The syringe (the kind without a needle) and paper cup that were part of a last ditch effort to save Dasen. Dasen was a female tabby cat who had developed diabetes. She lived with it for several years. She passed away on March 2, 2007. It was a good couple months before I got used to not having to give her medication twice a day.
Hopefully everyone else’s won’t be such a downer!
I tag:
Sorry to hear about your cats. I lost one about a year ago to diabetes. Thankfully, we caught it in time to keep him around, happily, for a few more months, but we had to act when the injections stopped working. I really miss him. Thanks for sharing.
I just remember when I was in grade school, one of my teachers had a cat that developed diabetes and they just put the cat to sleep. She talked about how much work it would be to have to give the cat a shot.
Sorry to hear about your cat. I think Dasen was a diabetic for at least three years. When Button was diagnosed with kidney failure, I had to give her subcutaneous fluids every morning. That’s what kept her alive for a couple months.
That is really sweet, despite being rather sad of a list. Do you have a fourth cat?
As always, thanks for contributing to the growing list of memes I’ve yet to complete.
Yes. Ink Spot. She’s about 8. She used to play with Snowflake. Button and Dasen never got along with either of them. Initially, Button and Dasen didn’t get along, until I forced them together one Christmas. They were nearly inseparable after that. Whenever Snowflake would get in a tussle with Button, Dasen would come running to protect her big sister.
Ink spot is a fantastic name for a cat. 🙂 As was snowflake and button. holy moly… next pet I get, I’m calling you so you can name my pet.
I didn’t think you had much else to do. :->
I didn’t think it possible, but that smiley is definitely suspiciously evil-looking.
Yes. You must know your smileys!
That’s a really sad list there. The cats you own don’t last too long =(.
Snowflake was around 10 or so. He was a stray, so it’s a best guess as to how old he was.
Button was 16 and Dasen was 19.
Ok buddy.. you threw me for a loop. . . BUT, I finished my 3 things! Never let it be said that I’m a slacker! Better late than never. That was a tough one actually! But it was a good diversion for me. 🙂
Sorry to hear about your various beloved pets. I know that must be incredibly difficult, but I thank you for sharing so honestly about these things that have moved you so.
I just got tagged on your meme. Great idea!
Reading through your own post, I can’t help but feel sad for you for losing three wonderful cats. I’m an animal lover myself, and I can’t bare the thought of something happening to my dogs. I know that it will happen eventually, and it almost did a few months ago. I don’t think I could ever be ready.
So sorry for your losses. You sound like a wonderful person, though, and your cats were lucky to have you. It’s a shame that there aren’t more such animal lovers out there. Good people like you should always be surrounded by good animals. I hope you have more nice cats to keep you happy while you enrich their lives!
Have a wonderful night.
