The Art of Community
What does it take to create an intentional community? Surely it is helpful if people are passionate about their vision of living together, but good will and the best of intentions are apparently not enough. According to author and community expert Diana Leafe Christiansen, about 90% of all aspiring ecovillages and community groups don’t make it beyond the initial first two years. Establishing a new community is like a puzzle with many pieces. It takes the right number of committed people with a certain inner maturity who share the same vision and are capable of communicating successfully. It takes time and money and intelligent choices of organizational structures as well as all kinds of well-considered practical choices.
The Art of Community section of this website is intended to become a tool kit where those insights, methods and strategies are shared that have proven to be helpful in successful long-term communities.
