Friends & Family

Being in the hospital for 4 days, it got a little boring so thanks so much to everyone who came and visited with Ben and I (i know it was just to see Ben...) It broke up the monotony of everyday....

The best part about this picture is that my sister had just told us that she was pregnant with her first baby... Baby Barrett coming in March!!! I'm so excited for Ashleigh & Nick; but even more excited because now Ben will have a cousin his age!!!

the scoop

So this past couple of weeks have been crazy in our household... not only have we all been fighting the flu/cold, but a week and a half ago Brent tore his MCL (ligament) in his left knee while he was playing in his softball game. It's been pretty funny watching Brent and I hobble around the house and try to get things done before the baby gets here... the good news is that he doesn't need surgery to repair it, he has to wear a knee brace for a couple of weeks and then start physical therapy 3 times a week for a month. Hopefully this will strengthen that knee; it's the same knee he hurt 14 years ago when he was playing baseball.
Then last Thursday at my 38 week doctor's appointment we found out that this little stinker decided to turn and is now in a complete breech position... he's sitting like a little buddha with his legs tucked underneath him. So my doctor made me an appointment for yesterday to go and try to have them "turn" him... apparently its pretty painful. We showed up at the hospital and they monitored his heart rate for 20 minutes to make sure that he was healthy enough to deal with the stress that turning him would cause, then we went and got another ultrasound done so they could see where exactly he was positioned, and to take measurements... well we come to find out that this little chunk is weighing in at a whopping 9 LBS AND 11 OUNCES!!!!! Needless to say, the perinatologist and my doctor (and Brent and I) decided that he was too big to try and turn and that a c-section would be my only option. Of course, they did say that the measurements could be off by a pound (in either direction), so it will be interesting to see how close "science" is at guesstimating the weight.
The c-section is scheduled for tomorrow at 12:00pm-- I can't wait to meet this "little" guy but I am a little nervous... I've never had a c-section before...

And what is a post without a picture, right? Here is the one and only "belly" shot that I got with this pregnancy... this is at 39 weeks.

Man am I ever huge, its not hard to imagine that I do have a baby that big in that stomach... it needs its own zip code ha ha ha ha ha
