Dot turns 2!

It is so hard to believe my little one turned two! It does not feel like 2 years has passed. We had a good day. The big event of the day was cake and ice cream with friends and family. I was really excited to have a friend from Maryland over. He just happened to be in town. It was great to see him. Here are some pictures from the day:

Dot found this that morning and put it on. She must have known it was her special day!

The cake!

This present combined two of her favorite things: balls and Dora!

Boolie loved helping Dot into her new sleeping bag!
(The sleeping bag was Boolie's present to Dot.)

One set of grandparents got a new baby and a pack 'n' play for Dot. It did not take long for the girls to get the doll in the pack 'n' play. It slept next to Dot that night.

Easter

So last year, Boolie and I came up with the idea of having us three females match. This year, I was not doing that again. This year, I bought fabric to make the dresses from different stores. I thought the fabric coordinated more than they did, but whatever. Each girl got a dress made.

We had a nice Easter. We went to Stake Conference after a morning of doing Easter baskets and a breakfast of crepes. This afternoon, I am not sure what everyone else did, as I was in the kitchen cooking. We had a wonderful dinner with the missionaries. Here are some of the pictures from the day:

I am grateful for my Savior. This time of year causes me to think of all He has done for me and how I tend to not live as I ought and remember Him as I ought. One of the things I am going to try to do is to be a little better about trying to be like Him.

Sew Much...

To start off with, I will acknowledge something: I know that this is crazy. But my girls seem to enjoy it, and really, I enjoy taking fabric and making it in something out of it. Now on to the story.
I have sewing traditions started. I make a dress for each of my girls for Easter, one for each birthday and Halloween costumes. Sewing these three things for each child may not seem bad until you look at the timing. One child has a birthday in April, which usually comes near Easter. The other child has an October birthday, which, of course is when I am making Halloween costumes. And one thing about me, I underestimate things. They seem simple, only I forget simple to me is 20 hours. Needless to say, I am busy sewing twice a year. Here are the Easter dresses and the birthday dress for little Dot.

I know the flower looks a little funny, but Dot is in love with it, so it has to stay.

Dot's birthday dress. I thought it was simple, since it is a pillowcase dress, but when you add in doing an applique and a hat, time is eaten up.

Dot's hair

My little Dot my curly hair. The ringlets bounce when she runs. It is just cute. My husband and I have talked about straightening it just to see what it looks like. Today I did. It still looks cute, but it is not my little Dot. Boolie cannot seem to get over how different Dot looks. Here are the pictures:
