Ho Ho Ho

Cina-fied Blogger

Side note:
Woah, apparently the Taiwan earthquake also affected Blogger,
since the China mirror has taken over the website.

Why is everything in Chinese??? grr

Ho Ho Ho

In tune with salsa3's latest brainchild:
Have a SherryTreeFriends Xmas peeps!

This was the most HappyTreeFriend-like I could find.
Enjoy! *oink oink*

A Wet Xmas it was this year. Rain, floods, blackouts.
Train trip on Friday was cancelled (goddammit).
Bought a bus tic as insurance, but ended up flying back on Sun morn to catch Ee Von's house party in time.

My virgin budget airlines experience, it was.
Slow, yeah I am.
But y didn't anyone preempt me on lugging my bag across the runway ground? :S
But I ain't complaining much, not with 2L of potent bottles tinkling in my grasp, muahaha.

(When some things are not worth maintaining...)

(Not even the boarding pass... or should I say receipt?)

(L: Even the plane was as punctual as ever; no sign of it ten mins before departure time)

(R: Wheel markers for the huge A340... the B747... and erm... where is mingy lil AirAsia's?)

To make the delay worthwile, Sat was paked with a million & one things.

Gatecrashed salsa instructors Leo & Bernard's wedding.
(First church wedding ever attended. Short, sweet and beautiful. *Triple turns in delight*)

Then terrorised ESPN (no souvenirs? aww). Plundered through Orchard in search for orange surf pants. Caught Crash while fighting to keep my eyes open (I swear, it was the contacts, not the movie! Promise I'll watch it again :D). Suppered on funny-looking tau-huey.

All the while in a tablecloth & pink heels. I must be mad.

Slept for 30 min before waking up at 5am to catch a kind friend's transport to Senai. Breakfasted there before finally flying off with another unexpected company.

Surprisingly, missing the train wasn't so bad after all. Not with these much lil adventures, heh.

Reprise of the Gsk Xmas

Xmas at the office itself was already in full swing weeks before D-day.

The familiar presence of cards on the desk...

The funky reindeer cupcakes & gingerbread snowmans...

The tantalizing harrods hamper brimming with choc truffles & cookies...

And the best of all, Choc Ciggies from Holland. The best stop-smoking aid ever, lol.

Xmas Tree Hopping

Of course, the city itself was ridden with xmas trees of all shapes and sizes.

Couldn't help but capture some of the nicer ones.

First, for the kinky ones (L): Pink boas, Swarovski crystals and everything else. We'll just need the fluffy handcuffs & g-strings to complete the look.

The gay & happy ones might prefer The Cathay's (R): The pink shirt fad has caught on well.

The more decent ones at VivoCity. Couldn't help imagining (R) as a giant Xmas sundae ice-cream.

Ooo. Angels & baubles. Pretty pretty.

And the prettiest of them all, Paragon's starfish tree. My 2006 fav.

Xmas @Chinatown. The kampung warmth.

Eevie's Xmas Eve

Mmm... and this was what I came back for (Pics courtesy of Sue Ann).
A homecooked feast painstakingly prepared by Ee von's mum, complete with a mini turkey & Xmassy tablecloth. Yum.

Some of the old Smsu gang.

The gals.

The reinder pimp and his elfie slaves. Ooo.

And hail the jolly Santa Boozes: Mr. Vanilla Rum & Mr. Coked Beer.

Home Adventures

The best time of the year was spent lazing around at home, watching dvds, suppering & shopping.

Spending quality time with the special ones. At the Vietnam Kitchen, again. Couldn't get enough of it.

Also realised that the inner section of the restaurant had a totally different interior design.

More funky restaurants @One U: blue leaves & lighted circles.

And look what we found at the rooftop: Wanna play ball?

Not too pricey either. Cool. Now if I only knew how to hold a damn bat.

Random Pics

More random pics:

Little margharitas sitting in a row (courtesy of Ah Boo).

The macho margharita itself (courtesy of Ah Boo).
Tip: Do Not order Blackberry ever.
Taken @CQ during Jerry & Nelsen's visit to S'pore. In the bg's (tai di kaki) Nic in their night long gambling stint with The Rockers Ah Boo, Shi Li & Ah Pek.

A visit to the rustic interior of VivoCity's Toastbox.

Complete with authentic table (& shelf) decor.

Yes tt's one mama tower of Butter.
Which explains why the kaya toasts always taste so great :S

(L): Peanut butter & Floss toasts. Mmm.
(R): Even shelves were decorated with loafs of bread. Interesting.

Ripples in Biopolis pond on a strong windy day.

James behind bars, during KR Acappella carolling practice. Before terrorising Timberland branches citywide. Now you know how mad a bunch of ppl we are heh.

Shy Fongky again. This time hiding behind a sofa pillow.

KR Choir Xmas songs @Borders (courtesy of Ah Boo). Ooo Joel rocks! :D

Middle

If you would have one music video tt describes yourself, what would it be?

This came to mind when I stumbled upon the opening credits of Love Contract
(Jasmine Leong's Zhong Jian)...

At least the first 30secs of it was beautiful...
The theme, the art direction, the music...
Ponder a little longer and maybe you'll see how it reflects my character...

(Yes i was looking around rummaging thru PeekVid's asian dramas when I got bored of House :p)

Yeah ignore the bits after tt...
Coz unfortunately the theme wasn't carried through successfully to the end when it got sappy...

Odd how it would be a Chinese vid since I'm not so... Cina... heh

P.s. yet to review the drama... hope it ain't too lame :P

Counting Trees

Tree. Tree. Lamp post. Tree. Lamp post. Poly. Tree.
Tree. Lamp post. Tree. Tree. Damn building. Tree. Lamp post.
Tree. Tree with red flowers. Stop.

Goddammit.

It's gonna take more than a while.

One Day

One day.
I will climb the highest mountain,
And braze the freezing temperature of the polar caps,
To emerge the conquerer of all things impossible.
But not today. Today I tend to the blisters and callouses on my feet.

One day.
I would see the vivid colors of the most beautiful flower,
Grown from the rarest and most precious breeds,
To fill the garden with the scents and blooms of perfectness.
But not today. Today I discard the silver seeds that couldn't bloom.

One day.
I would walk down the hallway gilded with gold,
Furnished with exquisite paintings new and old,
Admiring every single sketch & daubs layered with care and love.
But not today. Today I wash the crusts of paint off the brushes.

One day. But not today.

eScams Gone Creative

It's shocking the realise the extent (& admitted innovativeness) of certain ppl in the attempts of attaining anyone's account info...

Quoted are 2 random emails which escaped the spam filter...
Guys, beware of such ridiculous stories...

"My late husband died from the British and American attacks over my country ,and during the period of our marriage we had two male children Musa and Idris. After the death of my husband , I inherited some money which my late husband deposited with a Security Finance Company in Thailand for safety. The doctor has advised me that I may not live long, so I now decided to contact you to assist my two sons to claim this money. Subject: FROM MRS BINTU HAMMED KINGBE (PLEASE I AM WAITING)

"FROM MRS BINTU HAMMED KINGBE
ABIDJAN COTE D'IVOIRE
WEST AFRICA.

Dear Respectful,

"God Bless you,I know this letter may come to you as a surprise since it is
coming from someone you have not met before. However, I decided to contact
you based on a satisfory information I had about your personal and company
details as regards this business information concerning your country and
safety of our fund in a steady economy such as that of your country compared
to third world countries.

"I am Mrs BINTU HAMMED KINGBE of mende tribe in Sierra-Leone, my husband
until his death was the king of our tribe and also one of the richest
diamond and gold dealer in sierra-Leone. Last month, My husband was murdered
by the rebel forces on the accusation that he is a great sponsor and in
support to restore the democratically elected president of Alhadji Tejan
Kabbah. Almost half of the palace was burnt. My husband junior brother who
is in supporter of the rebel forces took over control of the leadership by
force. Fortunately I was not in the palace when they raided the palace. My
husband married four wives with 11 children. two of the wives, with three of
my children including my mother were murdered in cold blood while my two
younger sister escape the incident until this moment where the remaining
families are I don't know their way about whether they are alive or not.
Right now I am left alone with only child and a younger brother.

"Since the sudden assassination of my husband the family has been displaced
and totally disorganised. On the extensive search on the palace I discovered
the documents covering the deposit my husband made in security company. He
deposited two boxes containing US$ 14.5 million Dollars and gold . As my
town has been a serious war zone, I made arrangements with ECOMOG peace
keeping force to help me move out the remaining family out of the country.
However, we moved out of Sierra-Leone successfully with these documents,
certificate of deposit and receipt of payment, in other words my husband did
not disclose to the security company the real contents of the boxes, it was
deposited under a special arrangement as family valuable treasure, this
means that the security company does not know the content of this boxes
which was brought from Sierra Leone under a diplomatic coverage.

"Now that we are in Abidjan and verified the transaction, we need your
assistance to help us claim the consignment and move this funds and gold out
of Cote d" Ivoire for investment in your country as we cannot invest here
due to its nearness to our country also not being safe and the war still
going on there. By this mail, you are now requested to arrange a visit down
to Abidjan so that we shall know our selves and arrange on how to transfer
this money to your country as soon as it claimed out of the security company
and to sell the gold in your country. But if you can not be able to come
down, then we will discuss your percentage which we be for your help and we
will have your full details so that I will plan on how to transfer this
money out of Africa immediately it claimed out for investment in your
country.

"Your services will also be required on advising us for proper investment
programs in your country as he intend in united state or some part of
Europian countires after this transfer is concluded. This is subject to my
acceptances of whatever professional charges you may required. Please treat
this issue as confidential and contact me immediately with the above address
for more information about this transaction. Reply me this message
immediately.

"Thanks, Wishing you God richest blessing.
Yours Faithfully
MRS.BINTU HAMMED KINGBE"

Cornballs & Hand drops

Remember the cute hand flag sign from my Biopolis tour?

Two weeks later:

Hail vandalism.

On a different note,
Look what I've found at Ghim Moh.

KAKA corn snacks... last seen in primary school...
Still made in Malaysia heh.
Whoa, some things do last that long.

And for the suakus, these are what cornballs are.

Nostalgic.

One Day, But Not Today...

The Holiday

Maybe it was the relevance, the nostalgic xmas songs, or Jude Law's charmingly sexy presence...
To find me on a serotonin high with a simple (and lil cheesy) script like The Holiday ...

(Helloooo... wouldn't mind having u for breakfast everyday *wink*)

It's Xmas time anyway, aren't we supposed to be filled with warmth and love?
After all, we're all meant for bigger things in life.

Will be looking forward to that weekend shopping stint in Thailand next month then.
I seriously need a holiday. Away from everyone else.
From the familiar. The predictable. The imperfect.

But for now, I'll Have Myself A Merry Little Xmas.

One day. But not today.

P.s. But seriously, are people mad enough to exchange homes?
At least not when I have a mansion the size of 2 football fields :S

"Bebola Api?"

One of our favourite aca/duet song translation, inspired by the whacked post-movie supper with Shi Li & Adi...
Disclaimer: Requires Malay Translation app v1.1, or 10 teaching sessions with me :P
P.s.: It's singable too, lol

Api (Fire)
Mukabayi & Des'ree (Babyface & Des'ree)

You duduk keretaku (You're riding in my car)
I buka radio (I turn on the radio)
I tarik you rapat lagi (I'm pulling you closer)
Tapi you suruh pergi mampus (But you keep tellin me no)
You cakap I muka monyet (You say you don't like it)
Tapi I tau you suka bohong (But I know that you're a liar)

Kerana bila cium (But when we kiss)
Wah... (Ooh...)
A-pi! (Fi-re)

Malam buta ni (Late at night)
You bawa I balik (You're taking me home)
You kata mau minum kopi (You say you wanna stay)
Tapi I nak you belah (But I want you to go)
I cakap you B.O. gila (You say I don't love you)
Tapi you pun tau I bohong (But you know that I'm a liar)

Kerana bila cium
Wah...
A-pi!

Oh Ali dan Shanti (Well Romeo and Juliet)
Ah Hock dan Susanna (Samson and Delilah)
Baby you boleh beli 4D (Baby you can bet)
Mereka semua dah gatal-gatal (They were burnin' with desire)
Kalau I nak you mampus (If I say split)
I pasti kena potong lidah (Then I know I'd be lying)

Kerana bila cium
Wah...
A-pi!

Bila kita cium (When we kiss)
I bakar hangus (I'm on fire)
Sentuhan you ni (Your tenderness)
Buat I gatal lagi (Gives me desire)
I tak tahan lagi (I can't resist)
Nak lidah you sekali (Your tender lips)

Kerana bila cium
Wah...
A-pi!

Lol... I miss the Malay language sometimes...
Must have been watching too much of Cj's "Realiti" ( YouTube series complete with comprehensive Editor's notes ), a local series based on Msian Idol competitions... a bit too dramama at times, but still surprisingly impressive... heh... kudos to 8TV & Sri Pentas :)

Another walk down memory lane, this time inspired by Silly Shi Li...
Remember what we learnt in primary school?

"Ali suka main bola." (Ali likes to play ball)
"Saya suka main bola." (I like to play ball too)
"Mari kita main bola bersama-sama." (Let's play our balls together)

We never appreciated how cool our teachers were til now.
Ahahahahaha. Let's play more balls.

Adieu Darling :(

I whispered my last goodbye as I layered the last fill of soil onto the tiny little box...
It was almost unexpected, yet unsurprising...
For a little (mad) bundle of joy that was once so hyperactive and zippy: shoveling sand all over the place, gnawing a pretty bathroom dish in pieces, noisily churning the treadmill in the middle of the night, or chomping onto my finger in the middle of a testosterone-filled battle...

I tought he would have eventually recovered from his waning appetite, like he never failed to before...
I was wrong, I could have seen it coming...
When he started spending more time away from his little bedroom...
I'm so sorry...
I wish I could have done more in time...

But the time inevitable came...
These fond memories shall always be treasured...
Thanks for being the source of companionship all this while...

Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye by Cole Porter

"Everytime we say goodbye,
I die a little,
Everytime we say goodbye,
I wonder why a little,
Why the Gods above me,
who must be in the know.
Think so little of me,
they allow you to go.

"When you're near,
there's such an air of spring about it,
I can hear a lark somewhere,
begin to sing about it,
There's no love song finer,
but how strange the change from major to minor,
Everytime we say goodbye."

Randomness

Definition:
1. An inexplicable misfeature; gratuitous inelegance.
2. Of people, synonymous with "flakiness". The connotation is that the person so described is behaving weirdly, incompetently, or inappropriately for reasons which are (a) too tiresome to bother inquiring into, (b) are probably as inscrutable as quantum phenomena anyway, and (c) are likely to pass with time.

I like the latter definition. lol.

As promised, this is 2nd part to the purging of random handphone pix...
But of course, visual updates are better for the eyes than conglomerates of alphabets, no?

The Dear Ones

A tribute, of course, to the ones closest to my heart...
Mr. Lee, Mrs. Lee, Ms. Lee & semi-sis Ms. Lee lol...
Can't wait to see them again for Xmas :D :D :D

Missing sweet home...
And the little bird nest at the top right of the balcony grill (look hard)...
Sadly the little chicks have grown up and left the nest some time ago...

One of the family's fav restaurant, some Viet restaurant @1 Utama...
Love the decor (Vietnamese hat lamps!) & the authentic rice paper spring roll... mmm
(No wonder Mr. Lee loved it... it was all pork :S)

This handmade quilt... as ordinary (& kiddy) as it seems....
couldn't afford to be parted with since it & has been thru thick & thin from the sec school days... it now resides in a safe place along with the memories it holds :)

The Good Ol' Campus Life

Some of the many things i'll miss of uni life...

Late nite suppers at the local Fong Seng shops or Harbourfront market (with near-equivalent Msian-like food)...
(Inset: Rockers babes nite out... complete with rooftop booze session...mmm)

(Inset: Who could refuse taking a pic of the Cj-Boo twins?)

Will miss the odd-hour invasion of the Neighbors' rooms (and the accompanying shrieks of laughters ;) )...
Even just for sharing a 5-dollar Maltesers Easter Egg...
A golden egg with many many balls tt is...

And one of the best experience ever:
Theatre studies introduction & acting in a mini-production with Step & Ah Ong...
A compensation gd enough for one who always wanted to be in hall production, heh...

And not to forget Ladies Nights...
No more skipping of Thursday AM lectures & free entrance/flow of drinks... sigh...
On a side note, I just had to put this incrimating evidence of classmates going mad after graduation night... the things and combi of alcohol & and overdose of endorphins can do... lol

Thank god for the end of exams & odd-hour mugging tho, muahaha...
Here's a tribute to the last paper of the 4 years of sheer endurance...
With the last few days spent at TCC Harborfront mugging for (and probably experiencing) Major Depressive Disorders. lol. how apt.

The Idol?

I actually went that far... ahaha
In summary, it was quite an experience... and an eye-opener...
Enuff said.

Burn The Floor!

The first arts performance I've ever been to...

The dancers & costumes were amazing (tho not as good as the DVD)...

They made me wanna take up ballroom dance all over again...

On top of tt, we had a whale of a time watching the whole show again at the fraction of a prize... the joys of being penniless students... :D :D

Amongst the many dances: Steamy sexy latin/salsa, Happy boppy jive/lindy hop... and beautiful doll-like waltz... couldn't get enough of it

Had to take a pic of Suntec Convention Centre itself, since they built a massive platform of elevated seats...similar to Disney on Ice's performance... impressive
Other Random Pics
In no order at all... heh...
Spotted a giganto lobster basking by the pool...
And had its proud owners grinning at the cam too...

And my current fav interest...
A Little Rat...
They're seriously adorable... even with long pink hairless tails... ehehehe
Hellooo handsome

On a quiet night out with the salsa peeps at a cafe & Gallery Hotel...
I stumbled across this authentic interior of wooden kitchen decor... complete with wooden ladles & pasta...
Oh yes, I've only just discovered tt funky psychedelic bridge... jakun me.

Fongky being the victim of my camera, since she blended so well with the grass and edamame... Aww, don't frown now!

What's a fiery-looking fire beetle doing at an HDB estate?
The owner must be hoarding a mistress there, lol.
Cool.

Last but not least,
The BK Garfield!!!
Awww so adorable... can I bring him home? :D :D
