Nicolas turns 2 and more...

Matias brought this book home from preschool and was very excited to "read" it to me. Even though Matias can't read, I'm pretty impressed how he memorizes words on each page from books he loves and then will "read" them to me or Zeke.

for the snack that day, they dipped the animals in "mud" (chocolate pudding) and then washed them off in the "soapy water" (whipped cream)  (I got these pictures from Lucky Lane's facebook page)

Nicolas has been talking so much more lately and can say his name (both Nico and Nicolas). Since I took this video, he can say his name even better. For Lucas, he pronounced is without the "L," for Matias he leaves off the first syllable so it's just "Tias" and for Jonas he says "Jo Jo" which has also become a family  nickname for Jonas.

The difference between a linguist and a businessman: a coupon that says "one free round of miniature golf per family or party" means one person in the family (or party) gets a free round of mini golf, not a free round for the entire family! I should have known better, but I really understood the coupon to mean our whole family would get a free round of mini golf. Zeke thought it was pretty funny that that's how I interpreted the coupon. So instead of what I was planning to be free, we ended up paying almost $30 for our whole family to mini golf and it was a bit of a disaster. Lucas was excited but really impatient and kept using the golf club more like a baseball bat; Matias wasn't super interested and didn't really know what to do and Nicolas kept picking up the golf balls and throwing them! Nicolas and Matias also kept fighting over who got to push Jonas in the stroller. Zeke and I sort of tried to play, but we were mostly trying to keep up with the boys from destroying either the golf course, hurting someone there with a flying projectile, or protecting Jonas from Nicolas and Matias!!! I think we'll wait a few more years before we go mini golfing again with the kids (unless it truly is free -- haha).

Zeke tried a few times to show Lucas how to hit the golf ball correctly

Nicolas turned 2 on Friday!!! Even though he didn't really know what it means to be two now and that it was his birthday, he loved the attention and all the excitement. He especially loved the brownies and presents.

I also took Jonas in for his 4 month appointment that day. He is 14 lbs 7 oz and 25 inches which are both in the 50th percentile. His head of course is in the 90th percentile! He's definitely a Hernandez boy.

Happy Birthday Nicolas!!!

Halloween

Halloween this year was a lot of fun, especially once Lucas and Matias made up their minds and decided to be Martin and Chris Kratt from "Wild Kratts." Thanks to Christa and her amazing skills in planning a Wild Kratts party for Emmett back in April, all I had to do was make new tanktops and their costumes were ready to go. Somehow I never got a picture of Zeke and I, but we also dressed up as characters on the show: Aviva and Zach. Aviva is the brains behind all the different creature power suits and Zach is one of the bad guys. Since most people don't know Wild Kratts very well (even though it's an awesome show!!!), I made nametags for Zeke and me to wear. Most people didn't know who Lucas and Matias were dressed up as either except a few people at our ward Trunk-or-Treat. Here are pictures of the characters from Wild Kratts and then pictures from our different Halloween celebrations.

Our first Halloween party was a members-only morning at the Magic House (Oct 24th). There was trick-or-treating at different parts of the museum and free doughnuts and drinks. I didn't get any pictures while we were there, but I took pictures of the kids once we got home.

Jonas got to wear the leopard costume that all the boys have worn!

Nicolas was Spiderman - the costume is a size 4, it's so big on him but he loves to wear it!

Matias is Chris Kratt - he has a bear creature power disk on
(Christa and Mitch designed the disks - so awesome!)

On Friday (the 28th), we had a ward trunk-or-treat. During the party, someone had set up a big white sheet so everyone could watch Game 7 of the World Series.  I didn't get any pictures at the party because it was so dark outside. Zeke and I had fun back at home watching the Cardinals win the World Series - go Cards!!!

Saturday morning (the 29th), we went to Soulard Farmers Market downtown and afterwards we walked around downtown and saw the aftermath of the excitement from the night before

this sign was in the CityGarden

On Sunday (Oct 30th) we carved pumpkins and had our friends the Blasini's over for dinner.

On Monday, both Matias and Lucas had Halloween parties at school. Thanks to two different friends that came and babysat, I was able to go to both parties.

Later in the evening, our neighbors the Steingberg's and Ochenski's had a Halloween/Birthday party. Between eating and taking the kids trick-or-treating, we didn't get to stay very long and it was hard to meet new people because it was so dark. I did get to meet the Mosby's though. They are the family that used to live in our house and they are still very good friends with the Steinberg's. It was kind of strange to meet them but they seem like great people.
