HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU TOO! :D

And a Happy Xmas to all, too.

Did a defragment on my laptop just now and achieved some pretty surprising results.

It actually freed up slightly over 1GB of disk space for me~! :D

This is the first time I did a defragment which freed up so much space for me [though 1GB will be used up pretty fast].

*****

Been slacking the last few days. Gonna get some well-earned rest before the big project eh.

The weather is as bad as usual.

I was switching the channels on tv testerday night looking for something to watch and I saw bits of Asian Idol. So I thought I might just linger for a while to see who won the title.

HARDY MIRZA, ASIAN IDOL.

Shocking indeed. He was squatting on the stage, with his hands ccovering his face. Same [I think] stunned look when he won Singapore Idol.

So many nice things have been happening to Singapore lately. =] (Not to mention we just got our best second best results in the SEA Games.)

Saturday, December 15, 2007

According to reports, a couple of our nation's flags are actually sewn onto Indonesian flags by using a patch of red cloth that contained the crescent and the five stars.

This is absolutely ridiculous. How could a national flag be tampered? No wonder the Chef-de-mission [Team Singapore's leader] is enraged.

I also saw it myself on the television on Today at the Games in the interview with the sailing coach or whoever it is. The national flag which stood behind does look weird. The square patch that contains the crescent and stars looked especially red.

I just don't understand it. How could this happen?

Dunno what the people has done to our Sec Sch website. It is getting, in my opinion, worse.

It was quite alright 2 or 3 years back, then dunno which person did some revamp and, well.

Met a few interesting people while going shopping with mom to Bugis today.

During the train ride, we saw a most unusual couple. The guy was not really good looking, but still lookable, but the problem is what he picks for a girlfriend.

She looks old, she has this forever grouchy look ['enhanced' by her dark and poor complexion] as the sides of her lips are pointing kinda downwards, and there are lines around her mouth area when she twitch her lips. She reminds me of Zoe Tay in Man at Forty which is re-broadcast again at evenings lately and Jacelyn Tay in er fen zhi yi yuan fen.

While shopping for shoes, I saw a female customer wearing a rather nice shirt, but the price tag was hanging behind it, with the price, size and colour handwritten clearly on it.

If wasn't her long hair was spreading to the sides, nobody might have notice, er, the unusual look at her back.

At our last shop, we saw a woman communicate using gestures and signs. She got the features of a woman indeed, the shape, the makeup, the manicure/padicure, but she got the looks of a guy.

Found the Adam's apple popping out of her throat after a while.

Disappointing.

Was looking for the results of the 24th SEA Games and the search results were pathetic. Nothing much about it seemed to be reported on the media, and the official website is in Thai. No English version. On top of the shocking golden colour interface [which is very... *cough*].

Tsk.

Stupid spammer. Instead of making my day, you annoy me lah.

And tell DotCom, Anderson to stop spamming my friends and others' cbox with the unknown address too; I am sure many of us are not very interested in the surprises you have in store for us (trojan horse, for instance).

The funny thing is, Cristy doesn't seem to plant that message by entering this page. Some high tech stuff's doing it, I suppose.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LI HAO.

May you will get rrreally good results for your O's, get into your desired school, and be able to save more plastic bags. -.-

LOL.

For some reason, I happen to know a lot of November babies (more than 10, I think). Is November an auspicious month to give birth or what? =\
not to mention, you are one of them.
It's weekend again. =)

I just realised EBT modules are very si-nang. The students need to take only like 4-5 modules at one time. Whereas EBM have to take like 7-9. -.-

Too bad lah. Who tells us wants to takes EBM more than EBT.

~~~
Me still on holiday mood lah. Though it wasn't really suppose to be a holiday, we don't have to go to school [that much] after all. I can't wait for the 10-week holiday, which is like still months away. -.-
Just at the start of this month, two Americans actually came to my blog while searching for the same image I have through google search (one from New York and the other Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh [I even know which school he/she studies in, LOL.]).
Which, I think they are disappointed because the image is in Chinese [unless they are/can read Chinese].
[Don't ask me how I know, though I think some of my DBIT mates may already know. =)]
Things I have lost due to problems from my desktop:
  • My Favourites listing [very long list, and forgot to back them up ><]
  • My lots and lots of emotions [spam me some, will you?]
  • Normal windows settings/files [even with a genuine cd...?]
  • The old computer settings which i am so used to... [all thanks to the failure of using the recovery cd]
  • My mood, my energy, my time [frustrate me so much]
  • and many more...
It is good to finally be able to use my desktop again! :))) Even though the laptop has been great and works just like any desktop, it can be quite a nightmare too. The screen's too small, the keyboard is small, I have to use my wireless mouse most of the time, and not to mention it is very electrical consuming and troublesome because I have to pluck in my adapter all the time [so as to not rely on the battery].
But still, I owe a lot to my laptop when my desktop is down. It alllows me to be still connected to the internet, and I can research on how I can fix my desktop, ask for help, and keep me entertained etc. Without it, I can't get anything done. People nowadays really cannot live without the computer!
Not sure why my desktop has been giving me a lot of problems lately. And it just gave me the worst problems which nearly kills me while trying to fix it. When trying to replace the missing/corrupted file [which caused this time's problem] with the windows cd failed, my mom's friend advise me to format my hard disk [the compaq recovery cd failed me too x(]. I ended up format my drive twice. And even though my computer is super fast than before, a lot of essential windows settings/files seemed to be missing- don't understand why because I installed it with a genuine windows xp cd.
First, I cannot install the thing to enable my computer to read chinese characters. It kept prompting me to insert a cd when I remember I don't need it the last time. Then Jack told me one of my folders which contains my language files are missing. And I keep cannot find the file it needs when I pluck in Suresh's dvd. But in the end, I managed to resolve it by searching the disc thoroughly.
Then I had problems installing the java virtual machine [or whatever its called] which can read java embedded sites. Twice it restart my computer without finish installing it, telling me there is some sort of weirdo error. But somehow, in the end, I managed to install it successfully.
And during one of the restarts my windows theme was suddenly changed. Instead of the usual blue windows start menu and toolbars, it looked like those outdated square-ish silver bars from windows 98. And when I checked with my laptop, I realize one of the options under the appearance tab in the display properties is missing. I was like OMG WHAT IS GOING ON AGAIN. Thank goodness I was able to find a site where other people also had the same problem for the solution [just copy and paste the same file from another computer- again helped by my laptop]. It seemed that the file responsible for the theme might be corrupted by some spyware or what, though I am not sure if I got it cause I usually just delete all the things which I thought to be cookies when my spyware remover searches my computer for them.
Now I am still manually installing my programs back, but I’m still lacking the audio driver which is erased during the formatting [and the recovery cd won’t work, somehow]. Now there is no sound at all coming out except the annoying beep sound issuing from my cpu for alerts. I CAN’T LSITEN TO MY MUSIC OR WATCH VIDEOS. =’((( Wish me luck with finding the correct driver… (and hope that the computer won’t give me any more problems, I can’t take it anymore)
P.S.: Many thanks Suresh for helping out with my tech problems. Sorry to keep bombarding you with questions, but I was desperate lah. Oh, and your windows dvd. =))
ALAS, i still can't help but to feel disappointed... ...
WONDER why i cannot send files to my CD drive to burn in my laptop. maybe it is just sucks.
its gonna be a hectic coming week for me and everyone. MST right after the so-called e-learning week. to put it nicely, it is for us to learn at home. i rather think that it is study week for us to mug for the tests that come right after it. in addtional to projects which all ends the week after this MST week.
my com's storage is going to burst soon. only 10GB+ left. but even if i manage to clear the files of little importance (and maybe transfer them to external HDD), its not of much help. at most give me nearly 8GB more. wonder where all the space has gone. =\
8GB is considered little in the usage nowadays. i only used about half of the space over the last 3 years i use this computer. and the last quarter is absorbing fast today.
argh.
im watching it.
phew.
finally got a new skin up after months. not sure whats wrong, but blogger keeps screwing up the template in preview mode (in both my desktop and laptop) and my spirits were killed.
i had to edit this quite a bit too to make it more to my liking. this one is originally coded in tables, and the author also thinks that it is a nightmare doing it. i was thinking, why do it in the first place? using div tags are good enough, tables are more for info-containing. never seen a skin coded in this way anyway.
colours are dull, i know. even simpler than the previous. but i just want a change in look, and i havent got the mood to go edit the skin which i liked to my preference. thanks to blogger.
fridays are always worth looking forward to.
Subject: Women's Rights (ladies must read)
DEAR LADIES,
Something for us to know..... I was talking with a lawyer friend of mine. We were discussing the law and women`s rights. She told me about this incident - a young girl was raped by a man posing as a plain clothes officer ; he asked her to come to the police station when she and her male friend didn't have a driver`s license to show. He sent the boy off to get his license and asked the girl to accompany him to the police station. Took her instead to an isolated area where the horrendous crime was committed. Infact, the law clearly states that between 6 pm and 6am , a woman has the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station, even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her. It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested between 6pm and 6 am , ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and taken to an ALL WOMEN police station. And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be proven that a woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest. It is good for us to know our rights. To what extent it comes of use remains to be seen in any situation. But as they say, knowledge is power. Just thought I`d share this with you. I did not know this and am sure lot of us will not know this- please be informed..... And pass on this info to whom all u know.......
(Received 3 of such emails in one day. )
Nor did I know. How did this law come about anyway. Complete crap.
If a woman were to be arrested for a crime she committed, do you think she can get off by saying to the police, "Oh, its 6.01 pm now and according to the law, YOU CANNOT ARREST ME"?
And what if it so happens that there are no policewomen in the police force one day?
There will be no law and order. Just commit a crime at night and you are ensured that you wont get caught. Most likely.
By the way, who can tell me where the all-ladies police station in Singapore is? I'd like to see it myself.
Random scribbles
Anyone knows any good bit torrent programs? The one im using kind of sucks, the downloading speed keeps fluctuating. To the lower side.
Dunno whats wrong with netbeans. I ran my java program a few times [in run time] and keep getting errors. Yet I dont see any obvious errors made. Yet there are no problems during compilation. I retyped the arguments again and it finally run correctly. I changed them to the ones stated in the [practical] question and it gave me error again. wth. Typed again it is working again. And still working [I hope].
I want more songs in my media player. Somebody be the supplier(s) leh. Anyone. And gimme nice songs.
I am kind of glad to rid my notorious HP printer. Cos the one at dad's office got some problems. And he desperately needs one that has copier function.
The Ch8 9pm show is nice, but tuo ni dai shui. One crime not solved and another prop up. So far, no cases have really been solved yet. -.- And its violent rather than action, unlike what the press releases promised us. (Maybe in the first few episodes, yeah. But its simply getting more violent lah.)
The corn (ji yan) on my right sole refuses to heal itself. For months. Agony.
Does that give me the excuse to wear slippers to school?
The house's air-con has broken down as some chip board in the big box went sot. And dad's too busy to fix it. The weather has been too good to coop ourselves in the air-coned room. While he is whining about his immerse workload, we ourselves are also whining about not getting our own unit fixed. The others out there are fortunate than us.
The guys in my class are slow to notice the unusual way our database teacher speaks.
(Roughly what happened)
Teacher: I will tells you how to type the commands later.
R (shocked): What did you say?
Teacher: I will tells you how to type the commands later. Note that if you didnt type it correctly, the program will scold you (she keep saying this).
R (and the other guys): roar out with laughter
And they keep inmitating her speaking now. -.-
Why do the rest of the polys have such a long holiday? And also less teaching weeks. Wonder how are they going to finish their syllabus. Mom must have been glad that I go to SP. "Worthed the money."
I want that Shi Xinhui CD, cos it got the songs from local drama which I like. Especially Xiang ting de hua.
There are so many nice songs that come with local dramas. Why didn't Mediacorp produce a CD of these wonderful songs? I will very much want to buy it.
My bit torrent software is way too slow lah. 120MB file took more than 1h to download. z.
And I am very sianns now.
FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL (Caution: [Really] Long post ahead.)
Monday
First lesson was Database Management [DBMS]. As we (lx and I) expected, the lecturer looks like someone who is old enough to be a granny. The lesson sounds a lot got to do with MS Access, at least from the theory she taught us. It was not engaging though, she kept repeating stuffs as though we cannot understand the concepts at all. Somehow, she reminds me of my Pri 2 Chinese teacher (Mrs Long, xianns). -.- Next was Management [MOB] tutorial. At first I thought the lecturer looked a bit proud, but it turns out to be her strong confidence. She said she is the best lecturer (she did received the Best lecturer award, 2002) and she is very enthusiastic, very vibrant (even though she might be over 50 y/o, though she 'tried' to hide the fact from us). She promised us some packed but fun turorials (we are going to learn through playing games 0.0). And she went through the first 2 tutorials fairly quickly, and let us off like more than a hour earlier, and also the tutorial on Thursday cancelled, since she already went through with us beforehand.
Which means, we will only start lessons at 2pm on Thursday! Only for this week.
After break was Java programming [JAVA], the known killer subject of the semester. 3 hours! And you can tell from the number of students having need to forward it (retain), I think our class (with Class 01) has nearly 5 of them. The first lesson was nothing much, just telling us to download the software program need (which take ages, because the wireless connection was sucky and some laptops, especially from our end, suck away some of the download speed from the rest). The lecturer also taught us a bit of simple programming and using it to output our initials. As the connection was very poor, the lecturer cannot start proper lesson and told the class to do the downloading and installation at home and let us off 1 hour+ earlier.
Tuesday
The second day is as pack as the first, somemore with the same modules, but the difference is whether they are lectures or tutorials. DBMS, as usual, want to sleep, and the teacher let us off like 40mins earlier.
The first week is just soooo slacked lah.
Then we had our first MOB lecture with another lecturer. She speaks kind of fast and like our previous accounts teacher, she is bit loud. We are suppose to do self study on our own as she wont go through every part of the notes. For the lecture, we are suppose to read up the part b on our own. >< JAVA we went through some concepts and that was it. Was let off 1h+ early yet again. I wonder with all these early let offs, will they ever be able to finish their lessons? =.=
Wednesday
Was supposed to have IDEA, but the lesson was cancelled as the teacher was on MC. WTH. This last minute notice (pasted on the classroom door) made a number of us came to school for nothing, because that is the only module for the day. People like me and lx will have to wait for 3 hours before we have our GEMS, others who are going to have it on Fri just made a wasted trip. So many of us just slacked the nearly empty library until the time comes as it is a hassle to travel here and there.
Lx and my GEMS module is Maths puzzles and games. A couple of Lx's CO mates also as the same class as us. Its basically about solving what seem impossible trick maths questions. Kinda fun. And we are suppose to have 3 group projects (30% each) and a test (10%) for the module. Open book notes test some more. And the 'project' is about solving the trick questions and present to the class how you solve them. LOL. Some GEMS are just so easy to pass.
And the lecturer also says if we just present ourselves for the lesson, we will get 3 participation marks each time, which counts into our final grade. LOL.
After GEMS I rushed to Moberly block for the monopoly challenge which the boss [Suresh] asked me to join last week. Our group was split up to compete with different people. Joy, my freshman orientation group leader was sitting opposite to me, but she doesn't recognise me. The banker was damn noisy, keep asking us to make private transactions.
At first there was a 'fight' for buying up MRT stations, one player who already has 2 stations offered to buy up another's with a fee and the other wanted to trade it with an additional piece of land. They were negotiating when I was having my turn, and one of them didnt notice that I land on her property and I just kept quiet, LOL. (The rule says that it is the responsibility for the owner to collect rent themselves, otherwise you cannot do it when another player starts). At first the banker nudge me if I wanted to buy the property (he didn't noticed it was sold) and I just gestured quietly that it belonged to someone else's, haha.
I managed to build 6 houses on the street which I owned entirely, so you can imagine how the others were when they saw what I have done, especially when it was right after the GO. One of the land (on that street) through auction, because another player refused to buy. So me and o antoher player bid for it, until I find it not worthed for me to pay so much and I stopped. By then it was already $1500, and the player realises she did not have that much money to pay for it. Everyone started to psycho me to buy it, saying that I already own the another land and with that I can build houses, collect more rent, increase wealth, etc etc. So I obliged. And haha, I end up owning the own stretch of the street.
But hor, even though I seemed to have so many land and houses (most houses, btw), I still lost by $300 to the second place, and cannot proceed to the next round. Just as well, though the process was fun, I don't feel like staying so long either.
Suresh and ZL got last at their table.
Another end result was that, I lost my calculator [again] of 1+ years. -.- When I took it out to calculate my monopoly assets. Though I made it a point to store my hp no. inside one of the memory slots of the calculator, at first sight it may just look like a string of numbers, and someone might have pressed the reset button and everything's gone. I doubt those people will guessed that it is mine anyway even though I have also written the second character of my name on the back of it.
Sighs.
Thursday
I decided that, whether I get it back or not, I am going to get a new calculator. The old one was starting to get low in battery anyway, but I don't wish to change the batt until it is so going to die out; and I wanted to get another one long ago as a spare. So on the way to school I went to popular and paid $20 for a new one.
MOB tutorial was cancelled so lesson starts at 2pm. We had our first MAths lecture and the first topic we had was none other than my worst feared subject MATRICES. I thought I was so going to die cos I am soooo bad at the multiplication part. But the teacher wasn't going to touch on that until the next day.
DBMS practical: only it is more theory. I noticed there is something funny about the way the teacher speaks.
For instance: "one columns", "four column", "I'll tells you more about it later", "It will then go search for the informations", "this will impry (imply) that...", "it has to be com-ba-ta-ble (compatible) with...".
The most obvious is sometimes she likes to speak words with a 's' when they shouldn't be, and vice versa. But sometimes she gets the words correct.
I wondar wartis going on wit her.
And the IDEA teacher showed up insisting that we give her 5mins of our time before we go home (it ends up to be nearly 15mins). She apologised for having to make some of us came for nothing the day before and talked a bit about the module.
And she goes on and on, more like ranting her dislike for it to us.
She told us this year the module has went through a revoluationary change with the change of the new top management fot the module, much to the teachers' dislike, she told us.
Her tone was sarcastic, and I can tell she seems pretty impassionate about the module.
She told us she is a very pratical person, and not only is it true, I say she is very honest to us too. Too honest. 70% of her sentences start with "...I'll be honest with you..."
I won't say more in case of inviting trouble.
Friday
Continued with Matrices. I think I might have get a hang of the multiplication, but my rate of doing the tutorial questions is way too slow. How am I suppose to get through my exam?!?!?!
BTW, the Maths tut teacher seems to be mumbling to himself. Can't really make out what he is trying to say. -.- Went home after that. I love Fridays. x) Spent the afternoon shopping with mom for shoes and bag needed for relative's wedding. Mom also bought long pants which are more formal for me.
Saturday
And its weekend already! I have been spending the morning trying to fix my antivirus program. It seems alright now after I am finally able to get it removed and reinstall it (for god knows reason, it is not uninstalled even though the window says uninstalled successfully). But there are still a couple more to go. The computer's a bit siao lately.
This has been a rrrrreally long post! I hope nobody's eyes has fallen out already, heh.
THE VERDICT.
It came by email this morning (faster than I expected).
Singapore Polytechnic 2007/2008 S1 Examination Results
Student ID: 07*****
Name: CHAN LIN YUE
Module Code - Credit Unit - Grade
---------------------------------
ST2104 - 5 - A [WCD]
ST2103 - 4 - A [ITOS]
BA0287 - 3 - A [IEB]
LC0918 - 2 - B [CRS]
BA0276 - 4 - B+ [ACC]
SP0901 - 2 - B+ [CD]
BA0289 - 6 - B+ [FOM]
SEMESTER GPA: 3.692
CUMULATIVE GPA: 3.692
ALLOWED TO CONTINUE IN THE COURSE
WTH?! Only B+ in CD? I thought I should have gotten A when I make myself present everytime for the frigging module. Skits huh. And the unforgettable CIP.
Duh.
Not too bad for the first time in my polytechnic life. My mom was going, 'What? only 3 A's?' -.- She doesn't know how difficult it is to get A (>=80) in poly.
But mark my words, I have a history of getting my subsequent results corresponding to a straight downward line from the first. e.g. Sec 1's Literature common test was A1 and by Mid year it was C5. You get what I mean?
I am keeping my fingers crossed for my next semestral exams.
P.S. I am posting this on wireless@sg and the frigging network died on me when I tried to post this. I am so glad the post was retrieved because of the constant save as draft Blogger introduced. Or I'd die.
my uncle bought an external hard disk for me during his overseas working trip. ^^
now i dont have to cry like there is no tomorrow even if my went to the west heaven tmr. because i am prepared!
while he was here, i asked him to check my laptop's DVD drive, cos its not working since before the term ends.
at first he thought it might be a driver problem. so he uninstall, reinstall, etc etc, go online to search information, but still no result. in the end, he asked his friend.
and the conclusion was, it could be a hardware problem. thus it is not a problem anymore.
because, if it is a hardware problem, i just have to bring it to comtech for another check when school reopens, then if they still cant solve it, i will throw it to fujitsu to settle liao [warranty].
i am now harbouring thoughts of ditching this laptop after my 3 years study liao (initially i thought of continue using it if there isnt much problem).
BLOGGED [loh].
sorry, really no idea what to write.
Post #150.
Dear Friend,
Good day and compliments,
I am writing this letter in confidence believing that if it is the wish of God for you to help me and my family, God almighty will bless and reward you abundantly and you would never regret this.
I am a female student from university of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou. I am 25 yrs old. I'd like any person who can be caring, loving and home oriented. I will love to have a long-term relationship with you and to know more about you. I would like to build up a solid foundation with you in time coming if you can be able to help me in this transaction. Well, my father died earlier two months ago and left i and my junior brother behind. He was a king, which our town citizens titled him over sixteen years before his death.
I was a princess to him and I am the only person who can take care of his wealth now because my junior brother is still young and my mother is not literate enough to know my entire father's wealth. He left the sum of usd 7, 350, 000.00 dollars (seven million, three hundred and fifty thousand usdollars)in a security company. this money was annually paid into my late fathers account from shell petroleum development Company(spdc)and chevron oil company operating in our locality for the compensation of youth and community development in our jurisdiction.I don't know how and what i will do to invest this money somewhere in abroad, so that my father's kindred will not take over what belongs to my father and our family, which they were planning to do without my present because I am a female as stated by our culture in the town.
Now, I urgently need your humble assistance to move this money from the security company to your bank account that is why I felt happy when I saw your contact because I strongly believe that by the grace of god, you will help me invest this money wisely.
I am ready to pay 20% of the total amount to you if you help us in this transaction and another 10% interest of annual after income to you, for handling this transaction for us, which you will strongly have absolute control over. If you can handle this project sincerely and also willing to assist me in lifting this fund, kindly reach me,
Please, note that this transaction is 100% risk free and I hope to commence the transaction as quick as possible, I will send you my picture as soon as I hear from you.
Yours sincerely,
Princess Mariam Faso.
Fatso, more like.
didn't little miss princess know what our very hardworking working police force has worked tirelessly to warn us against such frauds? and that i am just a humble seventeen-year-old polytechnic student who know nuts about transferring money out of some mighty companies? and that i wont care a damn for her so-called money because it is not rightfully mine?
duh.
YOU know... i have been noticing this particular name on the news whenever i watch it. makes me wonder if its the same [and legendary] person from my primary school.
WU LEI.
well. the chinese characters are the same alright. though they refer him/her as mediacorp's reporter, never got to see his/her real appearance though.
~ponders~
HOHOHO.
i must be mad. suddenly im missing school. but only WCD lessons.
miss those times being kept in the super cold room learning HTML and CSS (no thanks to javascript though). and Kim can be really laughable sometimes. not to mention she can let us off really early before the scheduled dismissal time.
i cant bring myself to think how i am suppose to survive java programming next semester. not when my javascript is so weak.
im talking crap again.
P.S. i did not expect wireless@SG's download speed can maintain at >55kbps for such a long time. i expected it to be like 10-20 kbps only. btw is it a LAN or a WAN? the former right? =\
The Tale of Two Printers
As some of you might know, I have currently two printers. Both which drives me crazy (maybe not that much w/o the existance of Mr. HP).
Problem 1: Printer HP's language turns out to be Chinese instead of ENGRISH.
I don't mind Chinese characters but I mind them a lot on the computer, since I am so used to the English interface. I will have a hard time interpreting what shit they are talking in Chinese.
I have no idea why it turns out to be Chinese anyway. Some of the software I installed are like that, but some are very nice for they come with this 'Select Language' feature, so not much of a problem.
And never mind the Chinese characters, sometimes my computer couldn't understand the words and give me things like '??? ??????? ? ???'. YES, the question marks. To add on to my already questionmark-filled brain.
Problem 2: Printer HP will not scan.
For god knows reason, this printer will not scan. And I dunno the reason cos as mentioned before, the error message was in question marks and I don't understand that kind of alien language. (Which is why I have to bring in my old Epson printer for scanning jobs instead.)
Problem 3: Printer HP is the one doing the printing when I assigned Epson to do it.
I think it's got to do with the default printer setting, but when I set Epson to be the default but wanted HP to do the printing (don't ask me why, I have my own reasons), Epson will do it instead. And even more strangely, though the print menu says this printer will be printing this document, sometimes it will end up the other printer doing the job instead. This is more for printing document from the net.
Like lucky draw huh? You never know where it will comes out.
After all these fiasco I decided I shall switch back to [though reluctantly] Epson after HP has exhausted its ink supply. Somebody has somehow repair it for me and it seems to be working fine. But I'd prefer a Cannon next time (I never had a good time with Epson printers either; looks like I have no affinity with printers heh.)
Thursday
went on bag hunting with qing ai de hh. in the end we bought the same bag, but different colour at marina square. and she bought her tarot card. =) she damn excited about it. and she is going to cultivate some nice relationship with her card to make it more nice and powerful in future attempts of divination.
Friday
met up with hh again to discuss what to write for miss chua. spent the whole afternoon at the jurong east library to squeeze out what to write for her and put it in photoshop. though we didn't use much fancy features [only the text box, layers, brushes, etc], its my first ever creation from scratch in that sophisticated image editing software. i just hope miss chua wont faint from happiness when she receive our notes [along with others'].
Saturday
met the citizens of the C at JE's mrt station. before that met up with hh [yes, again] for lunch. what a feat, man, to meet 3 days in a row. the only other time we managed to do it was when we were in school.
over a dozen went: marvin, hassan, choo, kai ru, sherryn, atiqah, jonathan, derek, huiwen er zi, hh and i. siew ming and yu hui came later. after discussion some of them had their meal and we went for pool. hh pro lah, first time playing and she already got the professional style. and the boys coached us a bit in the technique instead of playing. so we were pretty much ok after some time, except our hits are pretty weak, with the exception of hh.
so that leaves the mask we are suppose to make to disguise ourselves on the day, and how to make miss chua stay put in school... i think hassan's already got some spies [i.e. juniors] checking out the target's plans. let's hope everything goes well. =]
OK i made a mistake at the last post.
31 Aug should be the celebration day. got to cancel the trip to dad's.
A very touching story.
烛光晚餐。
桌两边,坐了男人和女人。
" 我喜欢你。"女人一边摆弄着手里的酒杯,一边淡淡的说着。
"我有老婆。"男人摸着自己的手上的戒指。
"我不在乎,我只想知道你的感觉。你,喜欢我吗?"
意料中的答案。男人抬起头,打量着对面的女人。
20岁,年轻,有朝气,相当不错的年纪。
白皙的皮肤,充满活力的身体,一双明亮的、会说话的眼睛。
真是不错的女人啊,可惜。
"如果你也喜欢我,我不介意作你的情人。"女人终于等不下去,追加了一句。
"我爱我妻子。"男人坚定的回答。
"你爱她?爱她什么?现在的她,应该已经年老色衰,见不得人了吧。否则,公司的晚宴,怎么从来不见你带她来 ……"
女人还想继续,可接触到男人冷冷的目光后,打消了念头。
沉默。
"你喜欢我什么?"男人开口了。
"成熟,稳重,动作举止很有男人味,懂得关心人,很多很多。反正,和我之前见过的人不同。你很特别。"
"你知道三年前的我,什么样子?" 男人点了根烟。
"不知道。我不在乎,即使你坐过牢。"
"三年前,我就是你现在眼里的那些普通男人。"
男人没理会女人,继续说。
"普通大学毕业,工作不顺心,整天喝酒,发脾气。对女孩子爱理不理,靠自慰来发泄自己的欲求不满。还因为去夜总会找小姐,被警察抓过。"
"那怎么?" 女人有了兴趣,想知道是什么让男人转变的。
"因为她?" "嗯。"
" 她那个人,好像总能很容易就看到事情的内在。教我很多东西,让我别太计较得失;别太在乎眼前的事;让我尽量待人和善。那时的我在她面前,就像少不更事的孩子。
也许那感觉,就和现在你对我的感觉差不多。那时真的很奇怪,倔脾气的我,只是听她的话。按照她说的,接受现实,知道自己没用,就努力工作。那年年底,工作上,稍微有了起色,我们结婚了。"
男人弹了弹烟灰,继续说着。
"那时,真是苦日子。两个人,一张床,家里的家具,也少的可怜。知道吗?结婚一年,我才给她买了第一颗钻戒,存了大半年的钱呢。当然,是背着她存的。若她知道了,是肯定不让的。"
" 那阵子,烟酒弄得身体不好。大冬天的,她每天晚上睡前还要给我熬汤喝。那味道,也只有她做得出。"
男人沉醉于那回忆里,忘记了时间,只是不停的讲述着往事。而女人,也丝毫没有打扰的意思,就静静地听着。
等男人注意到时间,已经晚上10 点了。
"啊,对不起,没注意时间,已经这么晚了。"男人歉意的笑了笑。
"现在,你可以理解吗?我不可能,也不会, 做对不起她的事。 "
"啊,知道了。输给这样子的人,心服口服。"女人无奈地摇了摇头。"不过我到了她的年纪,会更棒的。"
"嗯。那就可以找到更好的男人。不是吗?很晚了,我送你回去。"男人站起身,想送女人。
"不了,我自己回去可以了。"女人摆了摆手。
"回去吧,别让她等急了。"
男人会心的笑了笑,转身要走。
"她漂亮吗?"
"……嗯,很美。"
男人的身影消失在夜色中,留下女人,对着蜡烛。发呆。
男人回到家,推开门,径直走到卧室,打开了台灯。沿着床边,坐了下来。
"老婆,已经第四个了。干吗让我变成这么好,好多人喜欢我呀。搞不好,我会变心呀。干吗把我变成这么好,自己却先走了?我,我一个人,好孤单呀。"
男人哽咽的说着,终于泣不成声。
眼泪,一滴滴的从男人的脸颊流下,打在手心里的相框上。昏暗的灯光中,旧照片里,弥漫着的,是已逝女子,淡淡的温柔。
Such men are considered endangered nowadays.
LINYUE'S stupid mistakes for not getting the correct answer for:
Profit & Loss statement:
- Added other operating revenue with operating expenses, resulting the former to be SUBSTRACTED from the gross profit instead of ADDING it.
Balance Sheet:
- Forgot to add the item [CLOSING] STOCK (AKA INVENTORY) to current assets.
- Did not substract accumulated depreciation costs for fixed assets to obtain net book value.
piss off.
was IS feeling siann-ed for mugging for accounting so i decided to take a break.
z. i cannot do a number of the questions in the past year papers, btw. =(
they are not as direct as they are in our previous tests.
and my new printer is giving me lots of problems. -.- i wanted a cannon de, but my parents suddenly become paranoid of the ink refill charges and duh. end up with a hp. i wouldnt have mind that much if not the problems it is giving me hell.
=((((
hm. just found out an old classmate is being nominated in the hey gorgeous show. she was one of the prettiest ones in my class. i remember someone said our old class quite a few chio ones. =x i never thought of that except that we are known to have some rather crazy mates and form teacher.
i wish holidays would just zoom here faster. im sick of staying home to study for tests/exams.
A number of things happened lately... which makes me kinda sick of my own life.
only in my dreams, i can seek solace with you.
THERE i go again.
sore throat, bad flu (not to mention very slight fever).
i cant breathe, man. ><
what a way to welcome the nation's birthday.
sometimes, i wonder if...
never mind.
Thursday, August 02, 2007
i just drown myself with another pack of chips even though my throat's feeling a bit weird.
=(
and i kinda regret it. beacuse it doesnt taste like sour cream and onion as mentioned on the package.
I have a feeling something unusual is going on in my class. i dunno how to explain it.
today's lessons are really -.- WCD consist of only telling what you did in your project to the lecturer and itos is just throwing out what we have done, no much of speech is needed, actually. and fom the lecturer just spam us with what he call tips. -.- keep telling us what will happen and to do when we have to be absent for the exam.
the personal development program cost me a bomb. but they seem interesting enough and you get 2 cca points from each one you sign up. something to learn during the holidays, at least...
Thursday, July 26, 2007
I am unhappy these days because:
  1. I've got never-ending projects, many of which I told myself to do well but ended up slacking and determination go wavered.
  2. I cannot grasp what the teacher is teaching during WCD about the holy javascript. Reasons might be: the teacher is either not herself these days (as before); javascript is a difficult thing to teach; I'm a noob.
  3. End semestral tests are coming and I don't feel I have learnt enough to take them.
  4. I think I've got a part of my FOM project wrong but the report is already submitted. And I'm not sure how I should make my powerpoint slides (part of it).
  5. Holidays seem so near yet so far.
Just call it bad rotten luck.
HAVE you ever tried taking your test/exam with your face feeling hot?
must be the nerves.
but i think i got the answers alright. not sure about careless mistakes though. =\
ystd was great, only 1 hr's worth of lesson. only to be disrupted by the scary singing in the foyer. i thought i'd die. ><
why didn't they have in-venue auditions? distracting us who are in the lecture halls. grrr.
~~~~~

jack's got such a bad breath.
THE accounting test went well.

-end of update-

(lol)

(NEARLY) the whole of DBIT 1A/02 is in a CS frenzy.

the boys started it, of cos... with the exception of WS, cheng yi, and CSS (maybe, dun think he plays a lot)...

and they somehow got the girls to 'hooked' to it too...

mainly val, liting, joaquim, lixuan [who claimed that no one will ever get her play such things] and yours truly...

actually i prefer to be a spectator [looking behind the shoulders of people playing it] more. cos the momentum is too fast for me.

~~~~~
finally done away with the damn CD module. it was a complete crap. glad that its the last lesson today.
REMINDER:
  • IEB presetation
  • FOM presentation
  • ITOS project
  • WCD project
luckily the last 2 is pushed to another week... or we will have 5 things to present instead next week(originally there was another CD skit BUT NO MORE CD LESSONS!). =.=
end-semestral tests coming... >< why does time zooms like light years...?
Thursday, July 12, 2007
WEEK 13
MY mood isnt getting much better these days. =(
  • FOM Report (week 14) + presentation (week 15)
  • CD skit + CIP presentation
  • IEB CA4 (week 15)
  • WCD project
  • ITOS project 2
~!@#$%^&*
went to school at 9 today. end up i was 1 hour early cos i read the timetable wrongly. i could have slept for another 30-60 mins. =.='' must be lack of slp.
the guys shot difficult questions to our group during our presentation yesterday. for the sake of the participation marks. wth. damn tricky. just you all wait, when its your turn next week, every group waiting to do the same.
and the WCD lecturer starts calling a classmate CSS (one of the guys above) -- Cascading style sheets, which is a computer coding. cos its also his initials.
i need SLEEP.
Tuesday, July 10, 2007
NEARLY overslept to meet the group for the appointment with CRS lecturer at 8 about tmr's debating activity. turns out she is late instead. =.=
at 9 was suppose to meet to talk about the upcoming CD skit. something which mr chin told us last week actually came true. he told us we need to have valid reason if we cannot attend tests/exams. like he had one student, apparently she was locked inside her house and her parents and siblings have left for work/market/etc. so she had to call a locksmith to get her out but was still too late. she took the receipt of the locksmith and appealed to the school director, and was allowed to take the exam next semester.
history repeats itself on wee sheng today. his parents left the house already and his sis took his keys instead when she cant find her. in the end he had to climb out of his house through the window. and it seems the news have reached almost the whole class liao.
today had FOM make up. slacking. damn lot of tutorial questions. but luckily hand in only on thurs.
still got to prepare for CRS tmr. next time, then.
HMS. am doing some project research now with my laptop on at the same time. funny thing is that it actually got connected to the internet- i never knew wireless@sg is so qiang in my past experiences, for my area is the network boundary and my lap usually do not get hook with it. and without the need to sign in too.
that was until i realise the ingenius lap hooked up with some neighbour of mine de wireless network. =.= signal is low though, well, but at least its stable, connects continuously, and usable (above my expectations). so why not? :D
click to enlarge
during ITOS lesson. quite a feat though, we never had everyone in the class online at the same time much, funnily. and some guy actually go add everyone into a conversation window, but sadly other people thought its boring and left one after another. i was kena signed out cos of technical problem. -.-
and today's FOM lecturer, instead of the usual boys, 4 girls actually pon it. and all the boys attended.
funny how the world works.
不高兴.
:(
<<想念你的歌>>
是否曾经后悔过
那时候负气说走 就走
是否偶尔想过我
所以埋怨我
没打听你的下落
逞强常常让人无法负荷
躲起来边哭边说
I miss you
还舍不得把你 封锁
星光闪烁 如何拥有
站在远方才看见星空的轮廓
虽然有时候会寂寞
墙上时钟 停格
你说放开手才会快乐
用悲伤的脉搏写成
想念你的歌
该怎么才能 让你懂呢
谁对谁错已经模糊了 忘记了
我们都处理 得有点笨拙
毕竟从来没有
像这一次如此爱过
想念常让我无法负荷
常常只有一个念头
I miss you
我的爱情来没有死掉过
LECTURERS SAY...
"the hairstyle suits you."--mrs tan
"next week's tutorial, friday the thirteen, will be cancelled. because it's a bad day to teach."
"no lah, because its my son's enlistment day, and i have taken leave to attend his oath ceremony, tour tekong, before dumping/depositing him over there."
--mr chin
"when are our results going to be released?"
"next week. everything's on the blackboard."
"blackboard?"
"yeah, thats where we do all the editing, moderation... etc."
"so are we going to be moderated?"
"i think your class needs to be moderated down, in fact... your marks are too high."--mrs boo
??!!
(bold=student)
funny mrs tan says about my hairstyle. she is the first one, lol. its done by my mom's primary school friend. its funny though, how things work. initially my aunt primary school friend recommend her to patronise her cousin, and it turns out she is my primary school friend. weird eh.
la.
and i cant believe we are going to be moderated down for WCD. mrs boo said our marks are generally high. how can it be when so many of us think we are going to fail. maybe she's lenient. but another lecturer (who also taught us) said so far she mark her class' work was 'very bad'.
-.-
accounting is going to be a mess for sure. even those with accounting background finds it hard. gone case.
well, i better get on with other more important things...
THE coming july is going to be ever so eventful.
firstly, the GST is going to rise again. we get to experience more of how it feels like to part with more of our money. $.$
next, HP 5 movie is going to be out on 12 july! ^^ traditionally, i have been watching this movie with my cousin and nobody else (somehow, we always watch them together and no one else =\). i have a feeling that the tradition is going to break this year though.
den barely 2 weeks after which, HP 7 is going to be out~! but im not exactly exhilarated though. cos i am not going to buy it yet (my mom will jump for a >$20 book, let alone >$40). i just have to look out for spoilers and borrow it from my friends who have it. until the paperback version comes out which is like 2 years later.
-.-
oh. and a couple of days before its release, its my mom's birthday. hm...
ps: isn't the release of HP 7 on racial harmony day? 0.0
I'M having trouble with my quicktime. now re-installing. perhaps its because i did not install properly the last time.
seriously. i dun really like quicktime. i rarely use it (the last time i use, according to control panel, was 2 years ago -.-). i prefer windows media player. cos many things can be played with it and i feel its simpler to use for me.
pls dun tell me how much better apple's things are or what cos thats personal opinion.
if nt for the trailers i downloaded require QT, i dun think i want to bother it at all.
*****
and boy. it does take quite some time to install. -.- zz.
dude, if you happen to read this, i salute you.
really, this guy shouldn't be schooling. he has all the markings for being a sucessful entrepreneur.
btw, the newly established class blog is so common and plain. can someone come up with a nice layout or something? i know this is possible cos, we are all well equipped with the required knowledge already. ;)
i can do the checking though. :D never good at designing, me. lol.
typical example of a hoax. though it does not do any major damages.
not sure why i am this alert this time.
IN the past i was under the mindset that blogskinners, not only they are good at designing, they must have been HTML (and CSS) well-versed too.
but i must admit though, now that i am actually learning the real stuff, many had minimal knowledge about them. just look at how they arrange and put their codes. they added in commands when there are no specifications on how it should be executed. they add in end tags when there are no starting tags to begin with.
i supposed they just chunk everything how they want their layout to look like by clicking and dragging them in HTML editors like frontpage and dreamweaver. they are likely not to know what really goes into the HTML tags.
GIVEN by qing ai de quite some time ago.
incidentally, i put up a link of a similar video, but its abt muar of msia. i think the sg one might have been inspired by this muar one.
http://textfiend.net/zerohero/index.php/2007/03/09... http://textfiend.net/zerohero/index.php/2007/03/09/muar-chinese
beware though. the muar one is full of vulgar languages and if you dont enjoy listening to them, better dont. though its hilarious.
this is quite popular. just thought of sharing in case you havent catch it.
partly why i have been in a foul mood lately. they just wont heal. =(
after lunch i went to sch's lib to return a movie. den to je's lib to return a book for lixuan. borrowed 2 books about javascript, hoping to learn more now that i got what i thought a bit of the basics. but heck, no lah, like before, i cant understand anything.
its been an unfruitful and boring day. one man show all the way. what a way to spend your holidays, especially the first day.
i miss qing ai de. but she's far at her hometown msia now enjoying her tian lun zhi le, probably forgetting all abt me. hope we can you hui and catch a movie again soon.
and it looks like everyone's chionging too or smth. so many were still online late at night. and there are many sleepyheads in our class today. cheng yi even skipped lunch to catch up with lao zhou during break. lol. not to mention some girls ponned marketing lecture cos they were too tired or smth.
i just realised our IEB teacher is so easily satisfied. she seemed touched when we handed in our reports for our projects promptly. she fell in love with gayraymond when he told her she should take a break for she's been talking too much and her throat needs rest (when he was the want who really wanted the break). and she say she'll be nice and give us high marks for our projects cos we were so ready and punctual for presenting our projects.
-.-
i was playing msn zone games as usual during ITOS. >< and marketing was the same as before: lecturer talking to himself while we copy whatever he wrote on the mindmap, without much understanding.
tmr'll be a better day. :D cos lessons end at 1. wheeeee. and after that we shall tackle on the darn marketing project on dear osim.
so long then.
《很想说》
在我眼里你永远最美
连你一个微笑也都会让我醉
你所谓的幸福我想给
以为手不放开
就是痴心绝对 太愚昧
难道 笑容没了
距离有了 快乐也走了
还是 真心死了
彼此不信任了
终於懂了 真的
很想说有你是幸福的
很想说我的心是你的
很想说你真的误解了
很想说你真的忘记了
My love
笑容没了 距离有了
快乐也走了
还是 真心死了
彼此不信任了
终於懂了 真的
很想说会好好疼你的
很想说爱你是自由的
很想说你是否听见了
很想说你真的忘记了
爱了 就有坚持理由
别说 我会留在路口
不会走 爱你会直到最後
很想说会好好疼你的
很想说爱你是自由的
很想说你是否听见了
很想说我们可不可以 复合
Was listening to this song and, suddenly find it quite meaningful.
I love WCD, but i dislike the assignment [project] given.
MY 3 projects are in a mess.
all 3 are not done yet, and they are due next week, 2 on monday.
We haven't even got the slides and report out for IEB.
i seem to lost the ability and motivation to do projects. my mind's blank, i dunno how and where to get the info, and i am damn slack at doing projects.
simply put, not as ji(1) ji(4) as before liao. sad*
i hate myself for being like that.
i wish they'd just stop giving us projects at the moment. my brain's in a mess. ><
Thursday, May 31, 2007
i feel so dead now.
me and lixuan are still unable to come up with the proper webpages for WCD. we just dont have the flair in designing i guess. unlike other people (e.g. the blogskinners) who can come up with layouts that are loved by so many and downloads exceeds 1000.
this is saddening.
sighs.
how i wish time could just stop.
POST #101
hello. im back again. im like 60% through my WTG and am having a block of what to write next.
in case you are wondering, its an essay on ur opinion on a controversial item [yeah, a lot like GP i guess] and blah. i've picked the american gun shot thingy and trying to squeeze out what other nice things i can say abt our govt enforcing the measures of not letting us owning our guns.
somewhat bootlicking, but true at a large extent. im glad that we dun just die with a *BANG* in a split second.
so long then.
POST #100
hello. this is my hundredth post here. its been slow though. its been over 5 months (i.e. more than 150 days) already since the commence of this blog.
sighs. things have not been eventful. i still got the stinking WTG to finish (by tmr) . and im starting to hate CD more and more. we were told that the skit today was only a warm up, and that we have to do one for our weekly case studies. on top of 10 hours worth of CIP.
i felt like saying *toot* now. she's as bad as that sec 3 CME teacher of mine-whats her name? i think its mrs *hor.
i still rmb how hanxiang changed his voice to scold her when she was abt to come into our class. lol.
i better go. still got to chiong that WTG. dint even know how to start. ><
><
time practically ZOOMS. its almost the end of the week again. and im not being productive. all my projects are half-done and seems rather stagnant. and they all due in week 8 [2 weeks later]. wth. not 2, but 3 projects. being in poly trains you to become superwomen/men.
dunno whats SP lib doing. the movie i reserved has been "IN TRANSIT" (moving from one lib to another) for practically the whole day. duh.
r-rest? dream on.
n-not so easy on students
i-incomplete assignments will mark you down
n-not forgetting projects
g-groans
!!
*faints*
SOMEHOW, my lap doesnt like cbox and i cant tag. so i shall reply them here.
JOAN & hh: thats what that speaker claims. like all of us will believe him. our water is already full of chemicals and no matter how u see it, its not pure anymore lah.
ws & joaquim: lol. usually i dun mind people gt link me a nt one. i just link them. ha~
Saturday, May 19, 2007
BTW, the speaker yesterday also claimed that boiling water is actually much more harmful than tap water.
because when we boil it we are letting the pure steam to evaporate away. or something. what is left is the more concentrated solution of harmful particles and chemicals. or whatever it is. he said many people is doing that and is wrong. tap water will do [for singapore, at least].
my mother does that all the time too, even water meant for drinking. =\
*grabs throat and whole body trembles suddenly*
-.- PLEASE.
Friday, May 18, 2007
MY friend lixuan asked me to help her create a blog yesterday. she's the second one to ask me for help on setting up a blog after my dearest "qing ai de". just like qing ai de [hoho xD], she has no idea how to start with blogger and some HTML stuffs... although she has been learning it from our WCD class the past one month. -.-
and she has dedicated her first entry to me! lol. i think im in love with her liao. =x hope qing ai de wont realise my 'jian qing'. heh.
anyway. not sure how many know about (or watched before) the show Get it Right (zheng shi ru ci) on channel 8. i doubt any lah. anyway personally i think (part of) it is ridiculous and kinda stupid show. the show is divided into 4 segments i think.
first segment is to ask the participating celebs who they [a video will show some ppl who are going to 'explain' the word) think will correctly explain a certain chinese word or idiom. they have to use their instinct to guess who will get the answer right, and they get points for guessing correctly (which may contribute to the ultimate winner-best proficient in chinese-just by guessing). i mean, this is certainly not a way to learn chinese. you cant guess to learn chinese. i cant see the rationale behind it. the whole segment is just ridiculous.
the second segment was to replace dialect words to proper chinese. i think this is alright. fourth segment is that the celebs are givin some chim word and asked to write the hanyu pinyin. like the second segment, i think its perfectly fine.
den the third seg., again its abt guessing. celebs have to guess which other celebs will give the correct sentence making with a certain word, and sometimes though they looked as if they know how to do it, they actually do it wrongly. on purpose, no doubt. just whats the point? those celebs suay suay got the wrong person den no marks. den they (may) end up not winning the 'title' of being best in chinese among the others just because they got the wrong person when they themselves not necessary do not know the meaning behind. (almost) everything is by luck. stupid right?
and the hosts still claim they have gotten high ratings for their show. -.- sianns.
~~~

the talk just now was kind of a bore. it was suppose to be some health talk by this certain 54 y/o man who has claimed that he has no gotten sick at all for the past 15 years. at first i thought it may be interesting and that he may be giving tips on how to be fit and all that.

but heck, no.

he started crapping lots (in a very enthu non-stop manner) and towards the other half of the talk i was almost dozing off. lixuan is capable enough to carry on listening to the talk. it turns out he seems to be more eager to promote some products (this machine that is suppose to charge all your cells back to 90 milivolts, the healthy rating) and blah (cant rmb as i was almost dozing off). it costs nearly 10k and to my amazement, lx actually told me she also have one at home, and it kind of works. but as she seems to be a better conductor of electricity in the family, she dun use it in case kena electric shock.

=\

i think my dad would rather pump more money to get a new van for his company instead of spending it on this high tech machine.
TODAY'S really slacking. we first have our FOM tutorial for 3 hours (yeah, 3h) at 0830 in the bloody cold classroom where we sat and research and think about our next PBL on Osim. going through the long and boring financial reports and looking up news articles in the databases our school library has subscribed to is kinda boring, though it still has its incentives.

val brought sweets in class to keep herself awake and our PT cum tutor didnt even bother. the other group even had oreo cookies with them.

and some of our class instead of researching, they were either playing games, listening to music, or whatever that may or may not be related to our assignment. jack was playing chinese chess on his lap and was kept beaten mercilessly by his opponent. the teacher did not care and even walk to him asking who's winning. lol. he's just there slacking too, occasionally walk by groups and make a couple of suggestions. i didnt know being a lecturer can be so slack one (in tutorials, at least).

after our break was another 2.5 hours of WCD to endure. im not sure why i wasnt looking forward to it as i had before, probably because it has been a slacking day for me. i didnt even bother to carry on with my practical assignment unlike my own initiative as before (though you can also choose to work during the practical lesson, but i prefer to do it ahead usually). duh.

but luckily it has been an interesting lesson, though it may be slightly confusing. we finally touched on Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and i kind of enjoy myself with it. CSS are those settings you see in ur template like scrollbar colours and A:link, A:visited stuffs.

i simply love WCD, cos it teaches the things that i have been hoping to learn. ^^

and the WCD lecturer was damn high and amusing today. keep making jokes and funny gestures. lol. dunno whats up with her. and instead of the usual 2.5h worth of lesson, she let us off earlier by half an hour or so. what a nice way to start off our e-learning week. =]

now slacking in FC6 before going for the talk by e-club, to earn another point for my cca. lol. i hope the speaker will make it short and nice, and speaks faster so we can go home earlier to 'enjoy' our e-learning week.

*makes note to self to finish assignment #AMAP so can enjoy the rest of the week*

The Amazing Race

Ok, i know this is rrrrreally late (the show ended last monday), but i was not in the mood to blog since then as my com's view of blogger is just simply, irksome to my eyes.

buy anyway. i got my perfect combination! congrats to the dating couple Eric and Danille for winning the race! Eric's been one of my favourite teams since season 9 (thought towards the end i changed my preferences as he and his old team mate sorta irks me a bit) and i have them rooting for them since the start of this new season (11).

i think they really deserve this, although Eric's been really ungentleman and made her girlfriend do many of those nasty roadblocks (tasks that can only be complete by one team member). after surviving 2 yields (stopeed by another team from proceeding to any tasks until the sand in the hourglass gets thru), came in last place in a non-elimination leg, hence being marked for elimination (30 min penalty unless they come in first) and despite the fact that they never won first place before and their placings have been really dangerous throughout the episodes. BUT THEY STILL WON. woohoo!

beauty queens dustin and kandice came in second, and (whining) cousins charla and mirna third (i.e. LAST POSITION. seriously i'm surprised that they could come so far in the first place.)

they're starting to film season 12 already! i look forward to it! ^^

yeah, i am a hopeless fan girl for THE AMAZING RACE. as quoted from an article i came across in my CRS (Critical Reasoning Skills) module, that Race is just too Amazing to miss.
i thought of changing the template after i got the right mood.

=\

feeling tired. zz.

yesterday bumped into yewming outside school's popular. surprise, surprise- he's studying in EEE now. some electronic course or what.

i was looking for nice wallpapers for my laptop and i found a site with really cool and cute wallpapers! but for some reason, maybe my connection sucks, i cannot load the site. >< (www.wallcoo.net)

im beginning to find my class more and more like my old one. siang sheng (or whats his name) was loud and crappy like hanxiang. and cheng yi sounds and sorta behaves like yewming. maybe they used to be twins in their previous lives or what.

tmr gonna wake early for trip to ECP with e-club. z. shall end here.

speaking of ants, something happened during ITOS yesterday.

there we were, having our yet another boring lesson of ITOS, den got this bee inside the newly furbished lab we are in. it was flying around the guys table, and the guys are a bit 'fraid abt it. the teacher said just leave it, its coming to attend ITOS lesson.

den suddenly one of them got up from his seat and 'hide' behind the next guy's chair, frantically saying something to the other guys not to dirty his bag or what. lol, cos the bee landed on his bag i think. so funny, a big guy (da nan ren) afraid of a bee.

and the bee flew to the binding curtain, and they say trap/squash the bee in it [how cruel indeed]. den later it flew to our side, and the teacher was there, dun worry and he slap and stamp, finally killing the poor thing who only wanna come for a lesson of ITOS but ended up being killed.

tsk tsk. may it rest in peace.

Monday, April 23, 2007

i'm feeling kinda bored, so here i am.

... ...

sighs. one sure can never have enough problems. and i am quite sick with the same problem that keeps happen to me.

i'm feeling kind of dead for now. friend(s) out there, revive me please. x6 (its suppose to be an emotion...)

why isnt life a breeze? why god/buddha/allah/... ... made the world a perfect place when they first created it? if not, the scientists wont be frightening us with global warming and pollution, there will be no crime, no baddies, no unhappiness, no bad karma, no anything. the earth wont be exploding at anytime.

duh.

guess i better go- though tmr's a relatively short day (for lessons), we got to finish our IEB project slides or we'll run out of time.

ps: one sure can never have enough ants too. baby red ants have been lurking in my laptop and i keep seeing normal black ones on my pc table. ><
anyway first week of school we already gotten 3 projects. -.- poly (at least, ours and especially RP) loves PBL approaches. thats problem based learning for ye. have to keep doing research on your own under the guidiance of lecturers. wonder does JC's do this? =\

and well, though i have mentioned this to someone already, just thought of saying it again~ yours truly got a real shocked when i saw myself 'online' during ITOS lesson on friend's lap. cos my wireless is not working again (damn) and there is no way i could be online, even though the rest in the conversation window thought i was. it turns out, unsurprisingly, to be my mother who forgot to turn off my msn when she's suppose to use. cos the display pic of mine is only available at home. -.-

today's a long and heavy day. i got to bring accounting book, IEB notes, ITOS book, laptop, which the other usual things. accounting lecture is starting to make more sense to me, it more or less sticks with the equation A (Assets) = L (Liabilities) + OE (Owner's equity). at FOM lecture we chose seats a couple of rows behind nick and frens. and yeah, he realised our change of seating but lucky din come over to pester us.

~~~
when i reached home my mom told me my dad kept looking for me for his quotation, and was unhappy (according to my mom) that i return home so late. but no choice leh, thats my timetable. today's already considered fast cos the lecturer let us off by 10 minutes or so. not that i can help it, i want to return home earlier too. =x
i'm gonna kill SP for giving me so many lap problems despite having bought it at school.
Sunday, April 22, 2007
i realised i havent talk about my class yet.
our class is known as DBIT/FT/1A/02 or simply 1A/02. its a class strength of 20 people, and the girls outnumbered the boys by one. =x we include frens from neighbouring m'sia [sabah] and china [liao ning province].
we are pretty much quiet, which reminds me of 3C'05. ah, those days. perhaps we are not bond-ed enough. class 01 is so bond-ed cos i think they've got a really nice and enthu class rep.
our personal tutor (PT, somewhat like our FT aka our messenger), is mr. chin our marketing lecturer. he's married for 23 years, has 2 sons (1 going for NS the other in sec 2 frm tanglin sec), and had went to bangkok to watch ah gua show and also photo shot with the girls boys boy-girls transexuals. with his wife.
the PT was confused when he heard that russell is both class and assit class rep.
PT: who is assit rep?
class: russell!
PT: cannot lah, cannot be russell again!
class: russell! *points at russell*
PT: no, cannot be same people!
class: russell!
PT: no lah, let other people has the chance!
'russell': my name's also russell.
PT: huh? there're TWO RUSSELL'S?
he failed to realise there're 2 russells in the class when taking attendence.
(:
we are currently taking the following modules:
  • IEB-intro to ebusiness (T & P's: mrs tan)
  • ACC-Accounting (L: mrs cheung T: mrs choo)
  • FOM-fundementals of marketing (L & T's: mr chin)\
  • WCD-web client development (T: mrs boo T & P's: mrs lim [aka kim])
  • ITOS-IT and office software (T & P's: mr. 'kenny seah')
  • CRS-critical reasoning skills (T: mdm nora)
  • CD-character development (T: mrs sung)
WCD was borinnng. mrs boo [our tutor] cheated us that lecturer kim will be going really fast in combined tutorials and freaked me out so much. or maybe its just the first lesson so she went slower pace.
i half wished that she'd go faster, for all the basic html stuffs (change title, bold/italic/underline [she missed out strike through x)] text, change colour, change background...) i see from many resources and have done myself till zzz le. but no choice, since many people, including my (new) fren has no background of html...
duh.
and the lecturer for ITOS doesn't seem to know what he's doing. we learning mail merge on word (sending letters to many people without having to type out one by one) and he seems blur about his subject. -.- he has to see students' attempts to recount what he missed out.
FOM lecture was more or less same as monday. the indian guy nick and frens sat in front of our row again, and he's over sociable. he kept wanting to know my name (forgot when i told him on monday) and i wouldnt tell him. he's, well, not the good guy type lah. ah beng kind. =\ dunno why he keep pinning his attention on me. x(
though tmr's only 2 module, each lasted 2h and 2.5h respectively. wish me luck.
ps: regular tagger not here again. >< shall receive her gift later den. lol.
Tuesday, April 17, 2007
ystd i was thinking blogger was improving cos the entries are uploaded instantly again, and my background picture's in place again, did not go missing anymore (for my case at least).
how very timely wrong i was. the moment i was thinking about that (entry was uploading), the next moment the grey background picture is gone. till now.
zz.
i dunno what to say lah.
just 2 days and my shoulders are killed. ><
it seems a great deal to be able to get our own notebooks and use them during our lessons, mainly during the practical. however, this is not the case.
just imagine you have to carry them everyday to school, climb up the many slopes in the campus, and have to worry about it getting stolen when you are not careful.
"one minute," the police said during the orientation briefing, "it will be gone." (if you are not careful, and not just for notebooks.)
and despite the fact that you may be bringing only your file, pencil case, water bottle, and possibly your one or two stacks of module notes/coursebook, which seems much lesser during secondary school days, it turns out to be much more heavier than those times. it seems like you are bringing your entire study materials back home to study for revision.
sianns.
*****
i got to hand it to our lecturers in SP.
ONE week ONE module topic (chapter). and we at most see each other for 2 days a week (1h session). at most 2.
and they can finish the entire chapter within that, 2-3h timeslot. dunno how they are going to do it.
they didnt seem to be teaching at a very fast pace or what, and the content is not less.
praise the lecturers *bows*
*****
there's a big hole in my pocket. or rather in my parents' pocket.
yesterday i was given $50 to buy my coursebooks, which i spent $29 in total. den my ez-link card was low in value, so i topped it up with $10. today got to purchase IEB notes, $9 gone. and after i exited popular, my wallet's nth but coins and cards (ez-link, student card, phonecard, etc).
alright, alright. i got a confession to make [here only]. actually was going to spend only a few bucks in pop for a couple of stationaries, but then i saw this array of discounted [old] games. the sims [1] hotdate [which i am missing] is going at $12.90 and it used to be around $20. so you know what happened duh.
i guess i'm going to fork this amount out from my piggy bank lah.
and there's something funny at the counter. there i was, laying out the things for payment, then this auntie (A) says [to her friend] this the sims is old one de. den the other say you got play meh? den A said she play sims 2 and suddenly, she asked if i have the base game which is needed to play. i told her i have and she pro upgraded to sims 2 liao. auntie nowadays also very updated one can? LOL.
tomorrow's quite a long day too, though not as much as thurs. sighs.
Monday, April 16, 2007
today's not too bad i guess. :)
mrs tan of IEB module seems ok. we had her for both the tutorial and the practical for the first 3 hours. den accounting lecture was nth much, since many didnt read the announcements on the SP blackboard at the e-learning site for purchase of coursebook. and ITOS was cancelled because the renovation works are still going on and will only resume on thurs.
but the ITOS lecturer seems a bit -_-. dunno lah, we will know by thurs.
markerting lecture was so-so bahs. the lecturer is ok, but there seems to be a lot of things to remember. >< i hope i'm wrong.
la. tmr's character development's also cancelled cos the lecturer is out for talks. wheeee~ only accounting lecture. but today we already got assignment-such of mini research project-today, so the few of us going to meet up tmr before lecture for discussion.
until next time then.
Sunday, April 15, 2007
wish me luck.
Hours: 9am - 5pm
No. of subjects: 4 (IEB, ACC, ITOS and FOM)
Includes: 2 lectures (ACC and FOM), 2 practicals (IEB and ITOS) and 1 tutorial (IEB).
duh.
Monday, April 09, 2007
WTH. DBIT turns out to be under SMIT instaed of SB.
i see myself as part of SB de loh. duh.
but the 2 main teaching blocks are like, opposite one another. -.- we have to shutter between blocks for lectures/tutorials man (i got my timetable btw).
like on monday, the tutorial followed by the practical by the same lecturer, we have to walk from T21 back to T19 just for that.
i love tuesdays. i go for lessons at 10am and leave at 1pm. and there's also a 1 hour project slot in one of the days. no teacher de.
gee, i just realise we're having lectures with DMC classes at MLT 8 (mass lecture theatre). can fit in meh?
i just did an identity search on my lecturers (can search one leh, their office and phone no.). btw i have kenny sia's twin as one of my lecturers. his name's kenny seah. in secondary school we have a teacher called TTL, in poly i have a teacher called TTJ. and there are two ANNIE's lecturers.
i have yet to figure out what those symbols mean on my timetable. =\ i've have to check the module table i think. and my class name so complicated can? DBIT/FT/1A/02. at least it seems so at first sight. none of the friends i know same class as me. =(
tmr's computer training. den some activities whoch we dunno. and thurs i have to do flag day at SOMERSET. XIANNS will want to take over me. i know you have a thing for flag days, unlike me (duh).
