I know that Boky's Birthday was in November but I really started feeling guilty about not getting her pictures done at the beginning of December. We set up a little background and everything and I got her all cute looking and this is what happened...

Christmas 08
Christmas this year was different than most in my life. I have always had 'believers' to wake up with on Christmas morning until this year (well I guess last year too). When Brooklyn got up at nine I was so excited to head down stairs to see how she reacted. Smiling the biggest smile ever we made it down stairs and showed her the presents, she wanted nothing to do with them :( All she wanted was a sippy of milk. We had the video camera going and everything and we had to stop it so she could have her milk. It was kinda funny but kinda disappointing too. Once we got started she loved it. Her favorite gift was her hair brush that Santa left in her stocking, she held onto it almost the entire time that she opened gifts.
After we did our own little thing I headed off to work for a few hours. At 5pm we all met at mom and dad's house to do a gift exchange and eat dinner. It was a good night!

December is almost gone...
So before I get to Christmas I want to update you on a few things that happened during the month of December...
Brooklyn got her first black eye...
Brooklyn got her first black eye...

We have a metal bucket thing that we keep our socks in and she came around the corner a little too fast for her wobbly little self and fell onto the bucket. It was so sad! At first I had thought that she hit her mouth so I was checking the inside of her mouth to make sure she didn't hurt her teeth then Zach pointed out her bright red eye lid. I felt so bad as it started to turn black and purple then green as it healed.
Brooklyn figured out the computer...

I was trying to rearrange her bedroom this day and she was being a stinker. She wanted to help with everything so when she disappeared for a few minutes I was OK with it. I was trying to move the twin bed and had already almost smashed her with it which could have been a very bad thing. When I went to go find where the heck she had gone to it only took me seconds to see this! I was shocked! Our computer chair is the most awkward thing ever and she had managed to climb on top of it and get to the computer. I must say her climbing abilities are tremendous.
I must admit that I turned off the computer and just let her sit there like she was in control before I took the picture.
What an adventurous girl!

Mom's Birthday!
Yesterday was my mom's birthday!!! She turned the big 40!
Zach and I took the girls while Mom and Dad went to dinner and shopping in Layton. While we had the girls we made a cake for Mom (better than anything cake) and played the Wii! It was a blast. Then when Mom and Dad got back we sang happy birthday and enjoyed the cake.
Here are a few pictures...

Yes we made her blow out FORTY candles. It was fun.
I must say that I really look up to my mom. Everyone kept asking her if she was freaking out because it was her 40th birthday and she just replies No. She enjoys aging and everything that comes with it (Grandchildren, gray hair, etc.). She is a great example to me and everyone else in my family. She is always putting family first, because that is what matters most. Happy Birthday MOM!!!

Apple Juice...
Thanksgiving was different this year (not only because I was away from home) because it was Brooklyn's first time eating real food at Thanksgiving! It was funny to watch her try and eat mashed potatoes by herself with her own spoon, try to hold on to an egg, and most of all 'bath' in her juice!
We put her down for a nap before Thanksgiving dinner started so that she would be a happy baby and when she woke up this is what she looked like... wet hair, grouchy, sticky, and sweet smelling. She had somehow gotten her apple juice in bed with her and it had leaked all over the place. She had already had her bath earlier in the day and was not happy that she had to have her hair washed twice because of the faulty sippy cup. It was funny though at first we all thought she just drooled a lot but it was obvious once we smelled her and saw the full extent of the wet hair it was APPLE JUICE!

Sleepy Heads...

We had the joy of babysitting baby Esi last Sunday and she was so good (not a surprise). She fussed a little right after her mommy left but then she was great she even took a nap, and so did Boky and Zach. I was up stairs trying to get ready and when I came down to check on everyone they were all asleep!!! It was funny because it was only 10 or 1030 in the morning and they were all out so I had to take some pictures!

Spider Web...
I bet you are all thinking of a nasty arachnid thing....
sorry to disappoint you! I am actually talking about the new hair style I tried on Boky!
She wasn't very cooperative (that's why she is in her high chair) but it turned out really cute. I think it is my new favorite way to do her hair. Let me know if you have any other ideas for me to try in her hair. Just Remember her hair is thin and long!

Not very pleased! This picture reminds of what I used to be thinking when my mom would do my hair SUPER tight!

Close up it looks perdy good!!

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks so I thought I would write a small list of things I am grateful for...
1-My husband. He has always been extremely supportive and helpful. I am thankful he is so willing to work and so eager to make me happy. He treats me like a queen :)
2-My daughter. Even though she can be a hand full I am thankful that she is a part of my life and can be so sweet to me. I am thankful that we were able to have her and she is healthy and happy and growing.
3-Family. In general I am thankful for all my family and all of Zach's family as well. They are always there when we are in a pinch. I am grateful that they are such a part in our lives and set such good examples for us to follow. They are always there when we need advice or just a shoulder to cry on.
4-My job. Even though I get frustrated sometimes I am very thankful to be able to work and to have a job. I am also grateful for the people I work with and their willingness to accept my faults and make up for what I lack in, they are the best team workers ever.
5-My home. Even though we aren't in a house yet I am thankful for the fact that we have a place to call home. It's nice at the end of the day to be able to feel relaxed and comforted just in the fact that I am 'home.'
6-Life. It has really hit me lately (maybe because I work in the ED) that not everyone has great health. I am so thankful that my body is working and that I am not chronically ill or have any significant health problems. I realize I shouldn't complain about the small things because there are so many people that have worse problems than I do.

Babysitting Esi May
Here is my very sweet little niece!
I got to babysit her last Sunday morning while her mommy and daddy worked. It was fun to have a little one but Brooklyn hated it, she is really jealous of other babies. At her birthday a few close friends of ours had their baby there and whomever had the baby she wanted. It was funny because she would let whomever hold her (even Zack E. (the babies dad) got to hold her). But anyways back to Esi...

Ok so she started to get sick of me taking pictures and wanted to be held! I assure you that after this picture I immediately sat the camera down and cuddled her :) She LOVES to be held. I can tell she is spoiled at home!

1 Year Check Up
Ok well just a few little things about Brooklyn...
We took her to the doctor today for her one year check up and everything looks good. He said that her hernia is looking good and he wouldn't be surprised if it really did fix itself. He said that she is doing the things a regular one year old should be doing and is staying on the curve according to her height and weight. I must say I was a little nervous because she looks so tiny but here is why...
She is in the 50th percentile in height and only 10th percentile in weight!! Skinny little thing huh? We also asked about her shoulder (it's been popping and then she cries for up to 5 minutes in pain) and he said he hasn't ever dealt with a one year old having shoulder problems. He said he would talk to the orthopedist and get back to us. It SO reminds me of when Rach was little and she had nursemaid elbow.
Another thing I might have forgotten to mention is that she got her first tooth!!! She got it the week after her birthday and now she is working on getting the one right next to it. Now we get to really brush her teeth (or tooth for now). We also need to get better about giving her vitamins.

Disney on Ice...
Yesterday we headed to Salt Lake but this time we were doing more than just visiting family, we had tickets to:
"Disney on Ice Celebrates 100 Years of Magic"
Mark and Tammy dropped us off at the Energy Solutions Arena around 1810 (which was nice because we didn't have to walk far or pay for parking) and Brooklyn was just waking up from a nap. I was really nervous that she would be a grouch through the entire thing but she did extremely well for a one year old.
When we got there we wanted to find our seats to be sure we wouldn't get lost. We were front and center and only 20 rows from the floor. They were perfect seats.
This Picture isn't the greatest but it shows the mood Brooklyn was in...
SILLY!!
While we were there she tried to kiss the lady to the left of us at least three times before she decided she wanted the lady's popcorn. (The lady was really nice about it thank goodness) The only other problem we had was when she pulled the hair of the mom that sat in front of us because she couldn't reach the little boys head!!! She also enjoyed looking at the little girls behind us twirling like princesses during the intermission.
This was the opening act and Brooklyn was enthralled. She kept clapping and clapping it was very cute.
Here are a few more pictures of Disney on Ice:
Over all we had a blast. Brooklyn sat through all of it but the last 10 minutes and those last ten minutes we spent "shopping." Zach bought her a Minnie stuffed animal, a flashing light crown, and a slushy. She had a ball and it was fun to be able to have a family outing that went so well. I would highly recommend this to all of you!!

Brooklyn's FIRST Birthday!
Overall Brooklyn's first birthday was great. I was a little stressed out because that's just how mom's are sometimes but things went smooth. We had a fabulous turn out at both parties. I think that Brooklyn had a great time at both parties. She got the hang of opening presents so Christmas will be great, and she loved the cake!!! Thanks to all of you who were there or called Brooklyn to say Happy Birthday.
Check out her birthday pictures here:
Just an FYI some of the pictures are really bad quality but we got them :)

PRIVATE!!!
Ok so I have been hearing some crazy things about blogs not being private and anyone being able to see them. All in all I would prefer to leave it open to anyone who would like to look but with all the weirdo's out there I guess it's time to go private. I will need your email addresses in order to let you view my blog, I think! I haven't ever set it to private so this will be new. Please add your email address to the comments of this post and I will hopefully get it up and working this next week! Thanks!!!
P.S. I won't publish your email address, don't worry :)
P.S.S. I think that if I make it private you have to have an account, so if you don't have a blog get one started!!!!

Icky Ears...
So it's official, Boky has another ear infection!!! Both ears once again. They put her on a three day antibiotic and if this doesn't work we'll probably go see an ENT for tubes. This time has been the worst yet. She has had fevers, boogy nose/face, drooling, and VERY grouchy. We've got the humidifier going with some liquid vick's and that seems to help a ton at night. We also put a blanket under the mattress of the crib which seems to help a bit. I am hoping that by the time she ends her antibiotic tomorrow she will start feeling and acting like her normal self!
Oh one more thing...
Brooklyn turns 1 on the 7th of next month. We will be having two parties, one in Tremonton on that Friday (November 7th) and then one that following Saturday (November 8). Please RSVP. I don't have times yet but the planning is under way ;) either email me or comment on this post if you will be coming or not for cake and ice cream, THANKS!!

Treats...
These pictures are a few weeks (possibly months) old but I felt like posting them anyways...

We had gone to the dollar store in Brigham for something (Halloween decor I believe) and when we went to check out the cashier offered Brooklyn a lollipop. I couldn't say no, she was so excited. We were going to wait to give it to her until we got home because they make such a mess but we let her have it in the car instead. It probably only took 5 minutes to dissolve the way she was drooling. It was funny after wards because her mouth was yellow like the lolli, and because I got her to open her mouth for a picture. She is so fun!! Can't wait to see how Halloween goes!!

Carving Pumpkins in SLC
![]() |
| Make a Smilebox slideshow |
This past weekend we went and spent some time in Salt Lake. It was fun to be able to visit and not worry about going around and visiting every single person, we kept it very low key.
With Halloween coming up Amanda decided that we should carve pumpkins! It was a great idea!! So you can see how well they turned out...
We also had a blast watching Brooklyn walk around and play with the dogs and just be her funny little self (except for the part when she fell into the table and had a huge goose egg between her eyes, that was scary). It was a great weekend!!

Broken...
I'm so sad and so thankful...
This past Tuesday my washing machine broke!!! It's practically brand new (We have had it for a year and a half) so I was very mad. It won't drain any water and it's a front loader so it's a disaster when you go to open the door and the water gushes out on to the floor. Zach tinkered with it, I tinkered with it, we removed and cleaned hoses, and we couldn't fix it. SO... we called GE to see what they would cover because it's still under warranty. Well they don't cover anything over a year and suggested we contact the store we bought it at (Lowe's) to arrange something with them. We called and gave them all the numbers and letters and codes and FINALLY they said that parts and services are free of charge with the extended warranty we bought with it (for four years). Well I was all excited and then they said ok we have an opening next tuesday...WHAT??? I have to wait a whole week to get my washer fixed? What do they expect people to do, use the laundry mat? I am so MAD! I am however thankful that I have my mom so close and that she has a working washer and dryer (and is/was willing to help me out. I did opt to use the clothes line though!)

Aren't the mountains in the background beautiful? That is what my parent's get to wake up to every morning, I'm so jealous!!

Musical Brooklyn

At Grandma De's house there are MANY toys to choose from but this particular day Brooklyn decided she liked this little horn thing (it goes to a set that has a drum, cymbals, and a tambourine). It has a whistle in it and she can actually make it work so she thinks that is pretty cool. If you haven't noticed lately in almost all the pictures taken at Grandma De's house are on the 'TIME OUT' bench or stairs, she is such a mountain goat! She climbs over and onto anything possible. I thought her being mobile would be great but it's not so great.

Digital Scrapbooking
Okay all you digi scrappers... I want to know what program you use, what you like about it, and why you would suggest I buy it. I want to get into it but I am afraid I'll buy the program and hate it, thus I want your input!! I have tried one of the programs (I won't say which) and it seems to have too many buttons and too much to do...

Kitty....
This past Thursday and Friday we went and spent some time in Salt Lake with Zach's family. We had a great time but it never seems like we are there long enough to spend enough time with each person. We got to see everybody but not for very long. I always feel like we are running around like chickens with our heads cut off when we are there and trying to see everybody... oh well. It was nice to spend time since we haven't been there forever.
When we left on Thursday we decided to take Legacy Highway, and I have to agree, it ROCKS!! It cut time off of our trip by a lot, or it felt like a lot. We made it there in no time and Brooklyn was great on the way there.
We got to spend time with Grandma G, G-Grandma Day, and Jeremy the most. But it was good to see Grandpa G, Amanda, G-Grandpa Day, G-Aunt Mindy, G-Uncle Mark, Tyler, Devin, and Jer's Parent's. We even got to see everybody at the bowling alley (long story) and that was fun to see a few familiar faces in a public place.
Thanks for letting us invade the past few days, we will gladly return the favor if you guys make it up this way...
These are some pictures that I got when we were at the Barger's (Mindy, Mark, Devin, and Tyler). They have lots of animals and Brooklyn loved the Kitty. Here are some funny pictures of her and Tabby. You can't really tell but Tabby is ready to have babies any day now and she was still so patient and so good with little Brooklyn.
