Fed- uP!!!
went to
NTU freshmen ceremony yesterday
with Jac & her fren, Amina.
reached tamp MRT station at 0745 to meet Amina.
haha.
I reached on time.
From Tamp to Outram,
we keep on chatting till
we forget that Jac meeting us at Outram.
Saw Lihin at Boon Lay MRT station.
just knew she studying
Chemistry & biological Chemistry (CBC).
0930-1230
reached NY audi at around 0930.
lots of food & refreshment outside the audi.
we sat together and saw 2 more tpjcians.
1 from S21, the repeat guy
who is studying mathematical sciences
and the other girl,
not sure which class,
studying Art, media & design.
each sit as a goodie bag and a graduation robe.
good stuffs in goodie bag-
NTU jacket,torch light,diary,2gb thumbdrive,
map.
we were like so curious
why we are given a graduation robe.
wasted 1 hr sitting on that chair.
finally, it started at 1030.
2 rows of VIP came in from the top door,
dressed in robes and graduation hats.
I felt the scene looked like
those in Harry Potter.
VIPs sat on a horizontal roll on the stage,
with the most VVVIP in the middle.
he's a eurasian,
thus the scene look even more like those in HP,
with "dumbledore" in the middle.
speeches were delivered by 4 person-
president of student union,
a prof,
channel u news broadcaster
and
"dumbledore".
his speech is the most not boring one.
a funny white man.
he said:
"don't just study, enjoy
as report shows that 2/3 of the
people find their wifes/husband in uni."
had a NTU pledge reciting
with our robes on.
continued with a light-up ceremony
where everyone light up their torch light.
somehow,
it looked like an early celebration for National Day.
a sea of lights.
quite grand as the audi looks like theatre in Esplanade,
just that it as only 1 circle and stall.
performances by different CCAs to welcome freshmen.
there's salsa,malay dance,NTU's MJ-modern jazz
and also perf from international students.
finally at around 11plus,
we can get our refreshments.
they learnt their lessons from pervious event-
HSS tea party where the food is not enough for the crowd.
there's
fried rice, ice cream, jelly, candy floss, and some small dishes.
we decided to collect our tertiary ez-link.
really spend quite some time to find the student services centre.

at around 1330,
we proceed to LKC LT for HSS ceremony.
as usual, we have to split into our divisions.
received an sms from my new friend which i knew previously.
instead of saying new friend, ok,
his name is Donovan.
weird name.Ha.
We queued to register
then proceed to our seats in the chinese division region.
i feel we can communicate more freely compared to previously.
from our research with our eyes,
not alot of china people.
and there's more girls than guys.
as usual, perf and speeches.
boring ones.
finally,
food!!!
we placed our bags in LT 23
whereby all chinese students
are supposed to go for our briefing and intro.
we are supposed to sit in our monday's orientation groupings.
my is emergency unit.
i memorised the eng name instead of the chinese one.
so after food,
we proceed back into LT.
before it starts,
group leaders passed around a paper
for us to write our contacts & email on our name.
Then i realised something.
I can't find my name
and the worst thing is
the group name on the paper is wrong.
I asked 1 of the senior and said
my group is not this.
but the paper pasted on the seats has the
english name:
emergency unit.
She said,
there's a mistake with the names,
so follow the chinese names.
SO!!!!
i seated in the wrong group.
I asked her what is the chinese name for EU.
she was like "i not sure, can u check it yourself outside?"
I thought
"ok... but since i'm ur junior, can't you just check it for me?"
fine.
the speeches by seniors n teachers started.
so i can't change seats.
so damn bored.
i don't want to start talking to people around me
since we are diff groups.
after that
students start to collect our matriculation cards
once our name is called.
so this is my chance to move!
i target another senior and asked her my doubts.
she was kind enough to check out for me.
she went to and fro, from the front to me, and explain to me,
and even find my correct group leader to bring me to my correct group.
kind seniors.
my real group seniors are so hyper.
2 girl, 1 guy.
esp that guy senior,"Bobby",
look quite similar to boo.
haha!
he know i was new to the group,
so he was like try to engage me into the group and
intro everyone to me.
so i manage to start a conversation
with 1 girl on my right.
a malaysian.
she was with another girl,also a malaysian.
they 2 are quite nice.
forget their names.
they explained to me what are au, ue and pe.
even said if there's a chance to meet me in lecture again,
will photocopy a copy of that for me.
but unfortuanately,
they have to leave earlier as
they have some stuffs to settle
as an international student.
so ok.
bored n lonely again.
a guy behind me talked to a girl in front of me.
that guy senior said him
"你哪里可以这样，你看我们的yvonne一个人。”
hahahaha!!!
then the student explained say
he and that girl are from same JC,NJC.
so they knew each other.
so we went touring sch
and seniors bring us to our lecture n tut places.
manage to find a new friend.
ok.
but prefer that malaysian friends.
was quite comfortable with the group
as the senior is trying me make me comfortable with the group.
they also gave us their nos
so we can find them if we get lost in sch.
i actually quite look forward to mon's orientation.
hope everything goes smoothly.
