Just recently, if you have been following my blog, you'd notice that I had an endless cravings for Yang Chow Rice. Fortunately, my friend, Madz, asked me to accompany her to an event that involved unlimited Yang Chow Rice. In fact, it was a 'chowdown'! Now don't get me wrong, I'm not the participant here. But believe me, just witnessing the contestants consume bowls of bowls of Yang Chow was enough to make me feel full. And besides, I'm not even qualified to join the event.
The Super Bowl of China Yang Chow Chowdown: The Ultimate was held at Glorietta 4 branch in Makati last July 19, 2013. This is actually the second of the two events they had in tandem to their Unli Yang Chow promo which ended last month. So how does this work? Simple. The person to consume the most number of bowls within 10 minutes (with no spillage) will take home a *drumroll* Super Bowl Party Package worth Php10,200! That, my friend, is good for 30 persons. What a big prize for simply eating too much!
Tagged as the Unstoppable 5, the contestants, coming from different branches of Super Bowl of China, were chosen based on the number of Yang Chow bowls they were able to consume during the promo. Meaning, they were the ones leading the Yang Chow leaderboard as the diners who were able to finish the most number of bowls during the entire promo period.
Mr. Gabe Mercado as the Host of the event.
The Unstoppable 5 were: Aljon Mortega, Vincent Rebultan, Ryan Tanada, Jan Magdaraog, and Amorsolo Tecson. It's funny how some of the contestant shared their strategies to win during their interview. One mentioned not to drink a single drop of water while another planned to take his time. When the contest began, everyone else inside the restaurant also felt the adrenalin rush and the high determination of each of the contestants. It was a close fight between Jan and Ryan! But in the end there will always be one winner. In this competition, it was Jan Magdaraog, who was able to consume a total of 11 bowls!
Let the battle begin!
