Here are the grosses of comic book-related movies released in 2024—ranked by domestic (U.S.) box office—according to Box Office Mojo:

2. Venom: The Last Dance: $140M ($479M)
3. The Garfield Movie: $92M ($235M)
4. Joker: Folie à Deux: $58M ($208M)
5. Madame Web: $44M ($100M)
6. Kraven the Hunter: $25M ($62M)
7. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira Training: $18M ($44M)
8. Here: $12M ($16M)
   
9. The Crow: $9M ($24M)
10. Spy x Family – Code: White: $8M ($60M)
11. Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle: $7M ($100M)
12. My Hero Academia: You're Next: $5M ($32M)
13. Look Back: $2M ($13M)

Once again we've put the worldwide box office figures in parentheses, where you can see that many (most?) movies now do the bulk of their business overseas. 

Aside from Deadpool & Wolverine, it was not a great year for comic book movies. Sony's decision to flood the theaters with movies based on Spider-Man villains tanked (although Venom 3 did okay internationally). And both Here and The Crow were highly publicized duds, both critically and at the box office.

Movies scheduled for release in 2025 include: Dog Man (Jan); Captain America: Brave New World (Feb); Witch Watch (Mar); Thunderbolts* (May); Superman (Jul); The Smurfs Movie (Jul); The Fantastic Four: First Steps (Jul); Red Sonja (???)

Commentary:  

• Dog Man: Big Jim Begins stays on top this week, and with the Dog Man movie opening in theaters today the top four spots on the Amazon chart are taken up by Dog Man books. There would likely be even more if Amazon was classifying them properly.
• This week's top debut is a forthcoming issue of Nightwing on the Kindle.
• Just two print debuts this week: An anniversary edition of  The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse; and the pre-order for the next Hilo OGN.

Commentary:  

• Kind of a surprise for this week's top comic (and top debut) as the pre-order for next month's issue of Batman (wrapping of Zdarsky's story ahead of "Hush 2" debuting the following month) edges out Dog Man: Big Jim Begins, even with the Dog Man movie due out at the end of January.
• A few other Dog Man comics return to the chart this week, though it's hard to tell if that's because of movie enthusiasm or Amazon reclassification (and it could be both!)
• The only print debut this week is the second volume of Dandadan, which hasn't hit the top fifty previously even though later volumes have done so.

• Dog Man: Big Jim Begins returns to the top of the chart after a single week at number two.
• The top debut this week is a new issue of Transformers on Kindle. The top print debut is the pre-order for the eventual DC x Sonic the Hedgehog collection (the first issue of the comic debuted this week). Also debuting is the pre-order for the next volume of Chainsaw Man.

Commentary:  

• No sooner did we say last week that Dog Man: Big Jim Begins would be at the top of the chart for a good while than we were proven wrong. We forgot that the end of December/start of January is calendar time! The Far Side Off-the-Wall 2025 Calendar moves up into the top position this week, several other calendars move up on the chart, and Comics from Pants Pants, The Little World of Liz Climo, Non Sequitur desk calendars debut, along with a Garfield wall calendar.
• The top debut this week is the new issue of Absolute Superman. Aside from calendars, we also get the print debuts of the first G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero! compendium, and a forthcoming, volume of Destroy All Humans. They Can't Be Regenerated.
