Blogging from tae gong gak hostel at jeju island now!
Korea's been treating me pretty well so far. Travelled from seoul to busan to jeju island and flying back to seoul tomorrow. i'm dreading the freezing cold in seoul. Jeju's temparature is the warmest but the other two is just impossible to go out without wearing gloves. The wind is so chilly that i shiver in 3 layers of clothing and a thick winter jacket =/
Been eating lots of yummy BBQ pork. Its paradise! Got some beary souvenirs from teddy bear museum today and i hope my luggage won't burst from all the shopping.
PS. Its so cold here! Brrrr...

I can't believe its happening!
Its tomorrow. i'm done with all my packing and waiting for time to tick by. Excited but worried about the cold weather in Korea. i'm super scared of cold!
This trip wouldn't have been possible without the awesome planning of Kat and i can't wait to see her plans unfold. Also, wanna thank he-who-wants-to-be-named-as-mr-anonymous for helping me get all the necessary winter stuff (lip balm, winter gloves and ear muffs).
My body clock snoozed but i just can't sleep!

Been busy getting stuff for korea, pigging out and catching up in my remaining singapore days...
Yesterday, i visited winter essentials at clarke quay central after stumbling upon them online. Their jackets were on sale, from as low as 45 bucks. Most winter jackets here are in the 200 range, so i thought it was worth a look.
I ended up buying a water-windproof jacket, woolen beanie and socks for only $65. Bwahaha. Call me cheapo :)
And since we were in the area, we had weekend brunch at epicurious!
I've been wanting to try it for sometime now. And epicurious has definitely lived up to all its positive foodie reviews.

Fresh orange juice.

Pancakes! Strawberries weren't sour and the pancakes go so well with maple syrup. Yum!

Eggs benedict is a must-try! i heard that they are always sold out.

Smoked salmon bagel. Love the rich cheese!

Our sumptious brunch. Another reason to be happy on weekends :)

Lately, i've been feeling hungry at midnight. And my supper is either an apple pie or banana.
I can't remember the last time i had a sumptous supper but what i do remember is that roti prata used to be my favourite supper menu. Kinda miss those bonding sessions at night over cheese prata, which is the only prata that i eat. Hehehe.
I've tried many prata shops from the famous ones to the ulu neighbourhood ones. Most of them are either a little disappointing or inconsistent in their standard. i like my prata to be crispy and i get really upset when it only has a small spot of cheese, which is not any different from eating plain prata.
My craving for cheese prata came back again and there was only one place i had in mind to satisfy it...

PRATA WALA AT NEX! Cheese prata and teh tarik for $4.20.
What i like about their prata is its crispiness and size. It usually takes me two to feel full but their cheese prata is almost the size of their basin-like plate. And i like their curry which is hot and thick, not lumpy like some others when they just serve you with cold leftover curry.
Especially on cold rainy days like these, it's comforting to have something hot and spicy!

EXCITED!
I can finally feel our MAGNIFICENT KOREA TRIP 2011 (named by Kat) drawing near with the preparations. Well, i haven't really prepared anything actually but i bought those daiso ziplock bags and went around searching for winter gloves.
At the same time, i made a list of things i wanna do and eat before leaving because work begins right after i'm back :(
Its also like a year-end thing, to do stuff that i never found time for so that i'll look back at the year with less regrets. December's always a nostalgic month when i reflect on how the year has been and ponder on the what-ifs. The unfulfilment of new year resolutions only makes me feel worse.
So... To make me happy, i'm gonna go on a crash course to gain some happy brain cells!

I had this sudden craving for chilli crab since last night and when daddy asked what's for dinner, it was naturally...
MELBEN SEAFOOD!
We reached the toa payoh branch at 6.30 pm and managed to find parking lots. There were a number of empty tables as well although most of them had reserved signs.
Despite hearing so many reviews from friends, its actually my first time there and i was surprised by the small seating capacity.
After quite a wait, we finally got our super yummy chilli crab!

And we dipped the savoury thick sauce with fried mantous.

It was so nice that daddy ordered another 10 more lol!

Thinking that it wasn't enough, he ordered another plate of gong bao prawns which were super fresh!
Man, we were so full because it was just the both of us. Major satisfaction! :)

In this one month, i've been lied to, betrayed and hurt. There were many things i never understood and many answers i never knew. But it doesn't matter because i've learnt not to trust, not to cry over things that aren't worth my tears, not to let my heart go soft. i'm without feeling, cold and numbed. This isn't me but my coping mechanism. To move on, i need to be harsh.
Hush.
Hush.

Comfort food and happier moments :)
I've always wanted to try texas chicken breakfast (because i'm sick of macs, KFC and BK). After checking in at T1, i was left with 20 mins to finish nom-ing.

Satisfying breakfast for the hungry girl!
Met up with Nic kor and Lyn at KLCC for lunch. Lyn recommended this mini wok stall at signature food court. The food menu looked really good. i should have ordered something else because this dried chilli beef rice turned out to be a little over spicy.

Nasi pattaya for dinner at devi's corner, bangsar. Spicy food the entire day and the lack of appetite welcomed my gastrics back. Tsk tsk.
I was somehow enormously hungry and didn't have the stamina to shop lol. Wanted to try the cream & fudge factory from my last visit because the ice cream creations looked tempting!
After a pretty long time of indecisiveness, i finally chose this strawberry fantasy sundae for 12.50 RM.

Yummy ice cream, friendly staff, empty shop, comfy seats and wifi usage (which is super important when you are overseas). So, why not!
Kor and Lyn brought me to restoran hong cha for dinner.

Famous for their pork noodles, this old stall is situated at OUG. We were so amazed when the staff whipped out a touch screen to take our orders lol!

My signature pork noodles for only 5.50 RM and a plate of soft shell crab maki shared by the 3 of us. My verdict? Just stick to the pork mee =P
Old town white coffee at brickfields was a convenient breakfast and supper venue. Camping ground for wifi access too keke.

Cham yuan yang with cheese and ham polo bun, and soya cincau ice blended.
Another must have in malaysia is...

Snowflake! i'm a boring eater who sticks to my usual order: soya ice series set 4 with additional taro ball. 8 RM for it.
Last meal at d'tau heritage food village.

Char kway teow set lunch. Had it once and having it again because its really nice!
And i'm never going to fly from LCCT ever because i was so lost. Procedures were messy and announcements were unclear. i thought i was going to miss my flight back because i didn't know where to check in.

Thanks to this cute-looking plane, my flight back was delayed for 45 mins because they were "changing to better performance tyres" with all of us inside the aircraft. Shouldn't they have done it before asking us to board and get belted to the cramped seats?
Okie i shouldn't complain because this is paying for what you get :)
The wait made me super super hungry and poor buddy had to wait for me at the arrival hall. i'm really thankful that he took the trouble to fetch me from the airport and accompany me to eat, yet again!

Starbucks to the rescue! Toffee nut latte and country chicken pie.
Peace out :)

Been awhile since i met up with Huishan mummy and her tummy's so huge now! Hee hee. She wanted to try out antoinette at mandarin gallery and of course, its anything to satisfy her craving!

Seriously, everything in the menu looks good! With our instincts, we ended up ordering...

Hot chocolate. Scrambled egg with tomato fondue, sauted mushroom and ham. And super yummy strawberry crepe with vanilla ice cream and chantilly cream.

Not forgetting, this pretty little thing. Which sadly, only looked pretty. It wasn't fantastic :(

Very cute jewel box for the bill too!
And to prove that being a mummy doesn't mean life has changed. We cam-whored! HAHAHA.

Be happy always, pretty mummy! :)

A very rare night out with my bro...

Bro treated me to watch Yanni's concert at MBS and it was just AWESOME.
I especially like 3 music pieces that he performed tonight. Felitsa, a song written to his mum which to me, had the strongest dynamics. Nightingale, a song that he wrote for a performance in china. And his ending piece, one man's dream.
To be honest, i've never really paid much attention to Yanni until my bro spoke of him. i went into the theatre without knowing what to expect and man, i was just wow-ed. His music has so much feel to it and he himself, is quite an entertainer. The musicians' solo performances were really good too.
And he said something that got me thinking, we shouldn't carry too much sadness in our hearts. All it takes is a positive thought and faith in ourselves.
PS. Thanks bro for the belated birthday treat! :)

TWENTY FIVE.
(the quarter mark)
When i saw the number of candles on my birthday cake, i went... NOOOOOOO!
Reality check :)
As with every year, i'm really thankful for all the friends and loved ones who made my first non-children's day birthday a memorable affair.
HARD ROCK CAFE WITH LIANG JIE MEI
Had a rockin' countdown night with Jiamin and Jialing. It was a heart-warming moment when the sisters sang happy birthday to me. There and then, i was touched that my bestie of 15 years has never forgotten my birthday.

I love you, bestie! ♥

My mudpie "cake" and our drinks for the night...

Members of the 2-5 club (>.<)
MIND CAFE WITH BA
Xue mei, buddy and i met up earlier to have lunch at TCC, city link.

Toffee nut and cinnamon hug, potato wedges with melted cheese dip and tako skewer and mentaiko hotate.
Made our way to mind cafe at funan after that...

To join the rest for 4 hours of mad fun!

Our first game: tumbling monkeys.

Our fave violent game! (where i accidentally scratched someone during the snatching part =X)

The big taboo. It was hilarious to watch buddy trying hard to make them guess the word using the purple doll.

The ang moh pai winning team. Hehehe. Teamed up with Hui and SW to play normal taboo and we won by 10 points!

Snorta! Man, it was tough remembering everyone's animal sound.
Anyway it was quite funny. Xue mei suddenly asked me to guess if my birthday cake is an ice cream cake or a cheese cake. And i gave a quizzical look. i didn't know that she had already deposited the cake with the staff before meeting me and buddy.
SUPER TOUCHED! ♥

Thank you for choosing this pretty strawberry cheesecake!

Xue mei was my birthday planner for the day. Thank you for all the hard work! :)

The duties of a birthday girl. i ended up cutting the cake into disportionate sizes and she took over to help haha.

Generous strawberries and oreos. According to Ping, the place where she got the cake is a very famous cheesecake shop called the cheesecake cafe. Truly yummy!
And another surprise...

Cute birthday balloon from Hui! Thanks sweets!

Thank you peeps for giving me a happy day to remember :)
SUN WITH MOON WITH FAMILY

Glorious food with my loved ones!
And before i forget...

My birthday flower surprise. Thanks!
