Question for Evening Revision Sessions

These are the questions for the even revision sessions I was talking about in my previous post. If you are planning to attend my revision sessions, please try to do these questions first before you come. If you attempted these questions and listened to the answer, you learn much much better if you just listened to the answer. All questions are taken from Bond and Hughes (purple book)

Kinematics (Monday 1 Sep)
Chapter 2 Pg 11 Qn 12, Pg 12 Qn 18, Pg 17 Qn 3, 6

Dynamics I (Tuesday 2 Sep)
Chapter 3 Pg 8 Qn 4, 5, 8, Pg 10 Qn 15

Dynamics II (Wednesday 3 Sep)
Chapter 3 Pg 7 Qn 2, Pg 17 Qn 8, Pg 20 Qn 18, Chapter 5 Pg 17 Qn 13

Circular Motion (Thursday 4 Sep)
Chapter 6 Pg 12 Qn 5, Pg 13 Qn 6, 7, Pg 14 Qn 14

I will post the questions for Term 4 Week 1 later.

Oh yes, if you're coming for any of my revision sessions during the Sept holidays, please SETTLE YOUR OWN DINNER.

Preparations for Promos

Next week is the September hols, and 2 weeks after that your promotional exams, so there is very little time left. I am going to describe what I plan to do during these few weeks (keep in mind that I am still working full-time, so it is difficult for me to help you during office hours).

During office hours (8:30am to 5:30pm): If you have something urgent to ask me, send me an email at yanndao[at]gmail[dot]com. And then send me an sms to tell me that you have sent me an email. I will reply to it as soon as I can. I do not have access to MSN during office hours. If you do not have my number, get it from your Physics reps.

After office hours (from 7:00-8:30pm): Below is the schedule where I will do evening topical teaching from 7-8:30pm, probably at the school canteen. [Do you know if school will be open during the September holidays?] If you have a better location to suggest, please let me know. (24-hour Macs probably isn't a good idea as I will be teaching, and we maybe disturbing the public).

I will be teaching these topics, so you will only need to show up for the topics you are concerned about:

Monday Sep 1: Kinematics
Tuesday Sep 2: Dynamics 1 (Newton's 3 Laws)
Wednesday Sep 3: Dynamics 2 (Collisions + Streaming Particles + Impulse)
Thursday Sep 4: Circular Motion

Monday Sep 8: Oscillations
Tuesday Sep 9: Superposition
Wednesday Sep 10: DC Circuits
Thursday Sep 11: Thermal Physics
Friday Sep 12: E & G Fields

If you have questions that are outside of these 9 topics (e.g. Errors and Uncertainties, Waves, Current of Electricity etc.) please contact me individually (by email or MSN).

I will be preparing questions from the Bond & Huges (purple book) for each topic (not alot, only around 3-4 questions each topic), and I will be using these questions to do the topical teaching. PLEASE TRY to do these questions (I will post them soon) as you will benefit MUCH MUCH MORE if you have attempted the questions BEFORE I go through them. It is also a good idea to bring your tutorial notes of that topic, so that you can ask me the tutorial/assignment questions you don't quite understand.

After office hours (from 9pm onwards): If you have something to ask me, try to see if I'm on MSN. My MSN email is yanndao[at]live[dot]com. If I'm not on MSN, ask me through email (the gmail one) and send me an sms.

On the 25th September: I believe none of you are taking Biology or Literature, so you have one full day free before your Physics paper. I will take leave on this day, and will be in school the whole day (probably from 9am onwards) for any last minute consultations. I will probably not do a Physics "crash course" on this day, as it will be too heavy and tiring, not to mention it is probably already too late by this point in time. So please do NOT wait until Sep 25th if you have Physics concepts you don't understand. Attend the evening topical teaching sessions from next week onwards.

Enjoy yourselves this Teachers' Day and Best of Luck for your Promos!

Pre-Consolidation

I will be having Pre-consolidation on both Monday and Tuesday. Fro, 7:30 to 8:30pm, tentatively at the canteen. The topic we will be doing is Dynamics I and Circular Motion.

I will probably arrive in school earlier, around 6:30pm or so. So from 6:30 to 7:30pm I am open for consultation on anything. This is the best time to ask me stuff about Superposition or Current of Electricity.
