Free Music Archive doesn't want to be free

WFMU's excellent project, the Free Music Archive, has gone live, promising 5,000 free-and-legal tracks released under Creative Commons licences.

It's exciting sounding, and seems to be popular. Which is probably why it's showing a database error right now...

Something to listen to: WMFU's Archive

WFMU are about to launch a massive archive of free music, drawn from the stuff they've recorded over the years. Right now, though, they're offering a bunch of stuff drawn from the Bay Area [San Francisco, not Cardigan] which means lots of free stuff from Negativland, Bob Ostertag, TITS and - inevitably - many, many more.

A splash of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, a dash of Au Revoir Simone, and you've gotten yourself an indie supergroup. WFMU had them in session and they're sharing the whole lot with you.
