A Trip to the Cat City ~ Day 4 The Cultural Village
After an adventure at the Sematan Beach, we went to the Sarawak Cultural Village on day 4.
Before that, I would like to share with you all the breakfast we ate Fu Chow Noodle with chicken (福州鸡面线) --- RM 4.50
Not really good looking as you can see cause only a chicken drumstick and an egg
It looks simple but it tastes super duper delicious
something not that heavy just perfect for breakfast
Another noodle I would like to show you all is this Preserved Vege Noodles (槽菜粉干) --- RM 4.00
I directly translate it into english by myself^^
the noodle is what we called in hokkien “cho bi hoon”, the thick noodle
with some green vege, pork inside
It tastes sour! but trust me is worth to try^^
Both dishes are highly recommended^^ and they are originally cooked by Fu Chow people
After around 45 minutes of driving, we finally manage to get in time for the award winning cultural performance in the mini theater
AWARD WINNING??!! Not that I simply say but is stated in this website below
http://www.malaysiahotelreview.com/sarawak/destination/taman-budaya.shtml
How amazing that he climbed up on top of the bamboo and spinning using his tummy
(strong back extensor to maintain that position)
A volunteer is asked to ‘pop’ the balloon by using the blow pipe and she manage to do that in just one shot! *applause*
At last, the group dancing of multi-cultural…
1) The Chinese Farm House
Guess what is this??
Is pepper tree!
pepper is divide into black and white pepper depend on how you process them^^
Chinese girl
2) Malay House
3 tries for RM1.00
but none of us dare to take up that challenge =)
According to the Malay guy, a small top can spin for 3 minutes non-stop and a big one for 5 minutes (if it is spin properly)
A spinning top (the big top)
3) Melanau Tall House
The Melanau Tall House is built about 40 feet above the ground.
climbing up using the tree trunk staircase
trying hard on the traditional Melanau dance
4) Orang Ulu Long House
Orang Ulu playing a string musical instrument – sape
5) Penan Hut
Shangkar tried the blowpipe *bergaya* (3 tries for RM1.00 if I’m not mistaken)
see the man beside him without wearing any clothes? That’s the Orang Penan… Cute fringe for a guy =D
6) Iban Long House
The interior view
7) Bidayuh Long House
Behind the girls is the Baruk, which functions as the congregation place for Bidayuh warriors…
There is a raised platform right in the middle of the Baruk. If you look straight up from the platform, you will see human skulls hung from the roof top. (can’t see from the picture below)
Those human skulls were once the enemies killed by Bidayuh warriors.
hmmm… I’m not so sure this ‘bridge’ is for Iban or Bidayuh Long House
(ops… sorry for my poor memory)
And that’s all! total 7 different ethnic houses…
I personally like the Melanau Tall House
amazed by the height… wondering how those people last time can built such a tall house without any proper tools?
Sorry for the “not-so-detail” post about the cultural village
because I was lazy to read about the description and forgot some of it… click the link below to check it out if you are interested^^

A Trip to the Cat City ~ Day 3
Before telling story about my day 3, below are the pictures I wanted to share
This is the smaller room which can be accommodate 4 person
2 single beds above and 1 double bed below
this room has a very nice sea view
This is the outlook of the girls’ room (not the upstair)
It is a family resort which can fit 6 person
2 rooms inside with 1 double bed in 1 room and in the other room, there are 1 double bed and 2 single beds
Each of us have to pay RM 69 ONLY for 2D 1N stay including buffet dinner and breakfast^^
Consider cheap huh?
Pictures say a thousand words, so lets us have a look what Kwang manage to take =)
Early in the morning around 5.30am!!! still can see the moon in the picture below^^
East Malaysia there the time is slightly about 1 hr earlier than Peninsular Malaysia… So we all woke up at 5am and spent our lovely morning at the seaside waiting for sunrise…
Our sleepy face immediately disappeared after we saw the sunrise^^
Love the sun rays
Here come the SUN
I personally love this shot, credit to Kwang^^
Fluffy white clouds
Below 3 pictures are taken by me =D![]()

Jeff with his monkey again @.@
A random shot from Kwang
After sunrise and breakfast, we rented bicycle from the resort
My 1st time to ride bicycle after more than 10 years =P
still unstable but I like it
my 1st time to try this double seat bicycle
RM 8 for normal single bike and RM 15 for double seat (duration: 1 hour)
Group photo before we leave Sematan beach
after tried for so many times, this is the best shot out of 20+ photos =P
(the only one picture that all of us are off the ground)
Then at night, we went to The Junk for western food.
It is located in an old Chinese shop house built in the early 1900's.
The Junk is situated in Kuching's oldest street, Wayang Street.
Amazed by the interior decoration with lots of antique items.
Caeser Salad
Fisherman’s Basket (all deep fried things inside including fries, prawns, fish meat…)![]()
We ordered 2 different flavor pizza: chicken and mushroom…![]()
Overall the food was good and come in a very big portion. The atmosphere was great with the dim light but the food was a bit pricey to me…
thats all for the day 3^^
