Sirens

Everything has a first time. Especially here, in beautiful Baltimore.

My first time in the USA.

Admiring the full moon in a whole new continent.

Watching my first baseball game as part of orientation.

Met so many new people in a day during play fair.

Hearing police sirens, ambulances, fire engines at least once a day. That can be explained by either I'm living in front of an emergency room, or there are just so many emergencies in Baltimore.

Hearing a gun shot. At least that was what people said. Initially thought it's a car crashing into something. And watching five police cars chasing a suspect. And witnessing a police pulling out a gun to the suspect. Live. Out of my window.

Baltimore

Day 1

Luggage got delayed. Was at night when we reached. Met a very friendly Californian girl with her mom. Was really lucky to have her. Got all the help moving our suitcases up. Thanks for all the breakfast! Walked to a senior's apartment at 12 and got back safely.

Day 2

Went to Wal-mart. Did not get everything. Rushed back. Chatted and napped. Invited for free dinner.

Day 3

Went to the bank. Went to a mall again. Again, thanks to the kind people who helped us. Walked back. Listened to a talk about security. Went to a Malaysian senior's apartment for dinner. Felt so tired I feel like dropping to sleep on the spot. Went for the floor meeting.

Day4

By now the most hectic one. Went out late, grab a bite at the FFC. So many choices. Rushed to a talk, got lost, and ended up late. But no matter, they are trying to tell us to stay away from alcohols and I don't drink. Got to another floor meeting. Explored campus. Went for some more meetings. BBQ and met more people. Convocation!!! Playfair and met even more people whom I had forgotten half their names. Drop by at the pajama jam.

I realize that I have never paid for any meals since coming to Hopkins. Good sign.

Nostalgia

However loth I was for the happy moments in INTI to end, end it must, as there will be no start if not an end. Here I am, savoring the last few days of free Internet and freedom. The joys, sorrows, euphoria and despair, love and hatred, ups and downs, successes and failures, have added color to my life. It is a really meaningful stage of my life to be here.
From the fantastic orientation, frenzy of SATs, tests, exams, to some crazy times with friends, they feel like they have only happened yesterday. Time flies really like an arrow. It is just like some unobtainable dream of yesterday, here being presented in front of my eyes now. I do regretfully admit that there are still many unachieved goals, hope my mistakes would drive me to fulfill them later.

Friends, there are hardly any better words to describe you other than awesome. Being close to supportive and wonderful friends has been more than just pleasant. Having parted ways, there might be possibilities we may never meet again, but these beautiful memories I will treasure.

Roomie, a great companion.

Goodbye and good luck everyone.

Appreciating

Meru. I survived. Without any mood to compose, so there you go.

Yes, I believe everyone would agree that the camp was very successful in bringing out feelings, especially a sense of patriotism, anyone who felt it might agree with me that it is a strange, but strengthening feeling.

Struggled to talk in Malay, and other than a few glitches regarding girl and boyfriend, ithe camp was really nice.

The best part is none other than abseiling. The pure euphoria would get me through any day no matter what happened. Now I see why extreme sports are addictive. Definitely going to do some abseiling some other day.

Feeling sleepy now. To end this post, let us put in every strength in our soul and shout,

MERDEKA MALAYSIA!

WE SURVIVED THE CAMP!

Ambivalent

Absolutely love this song...

Hot N Cold- Kate Perry
You change your mind
Like a girl changes clothes
Yeah you, PMSLike a b****, I would know
And you over think, Always speak, Crypticly
I should know
That you're no good for me
Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in then you're out
You're up then you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up
You don't really want to stay, no
But you don't really want to go-o
You're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down
We used to be
Just like twins
So in sync
The same energy
Now a dead battery
Used to laugh bout nothing
Now you're plain boring
I should know that
You're not gonna change
Someone call the doctor
Got a case of a love bi-polar
Stuck on a roller coaster
Can't get off this ride
You change your mind
Like a girl changes clothes

Scrabble

If not for Scrabble, I would be insane now.

Really. Scrabble offers peace of mind, a chance to stop thinking about other things and focus only on the board.

It lets me reminescence the sweet taste of victory, something that hardly comes by these days.

3 Bingoes in 4 sets: TOILETS, SUITORS, BREASTS.

I am happy.
