SIA it is then

Finally, I've chosen Singapore Airlines. Now the problem is how long I want to wait in Singapore before the plane flies to Adelaide. Yeap, I can get out from Changi Airport during my transit.

When I think of Singapore Airlines, I'll think of Esther. Haha. Esther, I hope your dream will come true =)

money, money, money

I've been working very hard lately, for U Mobile. Gosh, I feel so bad for neglecting my receptionist job. Although the pay is much better at U Mobile but I still feel bad. I wish I have more time, more than 24 hours a day. Then I can juggle between two jobs =)

Today is my first day working at U Mobile's flagship store at Berjaya Times Square, I don't really like it cause I guess I'm meant for roadshows. Lolz. If you think you saw me U Mobiling at Sg.Wang, PWTC, and One Utama then yes, you saw the right one. I was there in the past weeks. Actually I'm quite sick of repeating the same information over and over again. I can be the perfect customer service representative for U Mobile man, from the broadband to prepaid services. Throw questions to me, I can answer directly. Lolz. Ehh, most of the times even before I try to promote U Mobile, some people will make the 'U' sound. It shows the power of advertising. Hehe. Oh, I'm using that for my message tone. Get it from me if you want =)

Besides working, I really need to prepare my stuff for UniSA already. I need to book a flight very soon, am waiting for MAS and SIA to answer my enquiries. I want to fly by MAS but my mind wants SIA. Hehe! SIA is cheaper than MAS loh. Surprisingly. So, MAS or SIA?

A dream came true for me =)

the three words

How many people will actually say 'I am sorry'? I helped a friend of mine recently (just a very small help) then she sent me this:

I smiled when I read it =)

Saturday, November 08, 2008

alright, what's next?

One of my gloves has gone missing. Damn it! And my throat is not feeling very well, again.

Why! Who is the one cursing me at my back? I seriously had enough. So tired.

same shit, different days

ARGH! I'm wondering who is cursing me lately at my back. First, I lost my thumbdrive (with all my assignments and priceless pictures inside) and now, my Advertising assignment is gone!

As I was rushing to finish it yesterday night (almost finish ok), the file suddenly gone! I was trying to recover back the file but I failed. Hence, I had to start all over again at 3am.

Oh, there is some problem with my study plan attached with the offer letter from UniSA too. Why am i so unlucky in this week?

"Zam zam ala ka zam"! All the bad luck go away!

lost of creativity

I feel so sleepy right now but I must blog about this stupid advertisement I saw yesterday on the Star, it was Oldtown's. Yes, the cafe that is doing so well now and I heard it is opening its 100th outlet soon. I almost couldn't believe it cause the ad was stupid. I know the purpose for them advertising is to create awareness but it was too hard-sell of their products. Let me elaborate more.

The headline is something like 28 reasons why you need to go Oldtown, or something like that. The reasons are so stupid, I remember a few hilarious ones. First, 'you can sit down and look at the people passing by, then evaluate their dressings.' What a stupid reason? Can't I go to mamak (which is much cheaper) to evaluate people's dressings? I think there are more to be evaluated there. Lolz. Next, 'not in the mood of eating our nasi lemak? you can try some noddles too'. So hard-sell loh.

I wonder which agency produced Oldtown's advertisements. It's just, plain stupid. It's just depressing to see those kind of ads are being advertised. Maybe I shouldn't blame on the agency's fault because clients have the last word to say.

Miss Astro 2008

I think this is the first time I'm blogging about beauty pageants. Everything has its first time anyway. So, let's get it started with this year's Miss Astro Chinese International. Well, I'm blogging about it cause my classmate is one of the finalists and to the 0506s, in case you didn't know yet, it's May. Oh, to my dear readers, May is contestant number 6. Elaine was talking about the pageant yesterday and she told me our friend is one of the finalists and I was shocked to know who she was! She looked so different in the pictures but when I went to the official site and checked it out, yeah, it's her! Contestant number 3, LiNaa.

The grand finale is coming Saturday at Genting I think but you guys can catch it live on Astro Wah Lai Toi at 8.30pm I guess. I'm wondering whether either one of them will make it to the top three. I hope they will. Cheers~

No.6 : May

No.3 : LiNaa

Show Mi Again

A million apologies to my dear readers, I'm so sorry for neglecting my site for quite some time. The first thing I'm going to touch on is going to be Sammi's Show Mi Again concert at Genting last month. Actually I'm very lazy to comment about it because I have too much to say! Lolz. Overall, the concert was superb. I did many unexpected things during the concert, embarassing ones. I seriously think her performance on both nights were awesome. Some of the songs she sang were even better than the studio recorded ones. Oh, did I mention I managed to touch her hand? Lolz. See, I did something unexpected. I knew alot of good friends from the concert, one of them purposely came from Hong Kong just for the concert but I think it was worth it. Right Rocky?

complicated

Dear readers,

I might be going to continue my final semester in UniSA, Adelaide. Look at this point of time, it is most likely to be a positive answer. I should be happy cause this is what I wanted since Diploma but I'm not as happy as what I expected it to be.

When you want to get something, you'll work hard to achieve it but when u have the things you wanted, you'll feel differently. Why? I don't know.

C'est La Vie~

Look at the amount of tickets bought. They're worth more than RM 50,000 in cash, enough for me to own a decent car. My ticket to Show Mi Again is hiding himself comfortably in between the stack of tickets.

It is entering the third week since my new semester started. Everything is going well except the odd break hours and timetable. This semester is definitely far more relaxing than my previous one. Remember when I first started my degree, first week itself I'm stressed already but now? I still can afford to hit the gym four times weekly. Trying hard to keep it consistently.

I don't know if I can do well this sem, cause I have to write alot. I'll see if I can transform my creativity into writing skill. I hope I can nail it. Speaking about this just reminds me off Creative and Feature Writing class. This is supposed to be fun but most of the times, I feel like I'm in the World History class. boring.

I'm currently looking for a superb outdoor advertisement. For my assignment lah, what else? Really so free go scout for fun meh? I couldn' think of any yet. Need to go outside see see look look to look for one. The one, hopefully, that gives me a HD =)

a full-stop.

The end is not always a full stop, it might be a sign to start a brand new beginning. It's so hard to put a full-stop in the story isn't it? But this is how the story goes, sometimes a good start doesn't end with a good ending.

I guess just have to be optimistic.

08.08.08

It's not only in the western calendar but today is also the 8th day in lunar calendar. The spooky month, Hungry Ghost Festival. Traditional and maybe not-so-traditional Chinese (like me) believe that the hell gate will be opened on the July 1st (lunar calendar) which is on August 1st. So, there'll be many ghosts wandering along the streets. This is that time of the year again where your parents will nag you if you're back home late. No matter you believe or not, try to get home by 12 a.m..

08-08-08, the time is now, the place is in Beijing. Everyone knows about 2008 Beijing Olympic, so I'm not going to talk anything about it. All the best to the Malaysian team~

After so many days, I finally saw Swee Ling in college. I was so excited seeing her in class today cause it feels so good when you're taking a subject with someone you have known for years (actually three years only lah, lolz). Ah Ling, I'm sure you can adapt yourself well in this new environment. I know it's hard but don't worry cause we'll be there for you =)

I'm very tired today after gym but still online just to check my gmail. Hehe, my ticket to Show Mi Again is confirmed. I just can't wait for September, for many reasons =)

Assignments have started to queue up in a straight line awaiting me but I think I'll be enjoying to complete them cause some of the assignments do not require a single referencing. This is just so cool! Ask any of the college/uni students, they'll understand.

Show Mi Again

This is the name of Sammi's concert this year, Show Mi Again 2008 Live in Genting. Why again? Cause she came here last year for her Show Mi World Tour so since she's coming again, Genting named it Show Mi (me) Again. So funny right? I've been waiting for the ticket pricing since June and taa daa, Genting had already released the information. The VIP ticket on the last show is RM 430. You heard me right, RM430. I've booked my ticket through someone where I can get 10% discount (but still expensive thou). Nevermind, it'll be worth it I think. I missed Show Mi 2007, I hope I won't miss Show Mi Again cause I don't think there'll be Show Mi Again and Again 2009. Lolz! Oh, although tickets have only been released on August 5th, VIP and PS 1 (RM 380) tickets are already 70% sold out on both nights. Hmm, I don't mind at all if someone plans to sponsor me VIP ticket as my 21st birthday! Wakakakakakakakaka!

Anyways, first day of college was great cause got to see my friends. After the battle of emails with my Programme Director, I finally give up on arguing with someone that doesn't understand the main point but keeping on to beat around the bush. Friends, I'm now seriously considering Miranda's choice to do her final sem in Adelaide. I'm so tired of Taylor's poor management already. But I need more time to think and plan. This is not talking about buying vegetables at market but using at least RM 26,000 in just four months. Should I proceed with this selfish decision? I'm thinking of getting 'loan' from my family. I'll pay back bit-by-bit when I start to work. This is something I'm proud of myself, I used my own money for most of the things I bought. I believe most of the students are like me, want to go abroad to study. I'm not like my other friends who already studying in Australia, I have many things to consider if I'll be going. Things that hold me back.

I don't know. Should I go?

up and down

Oh, semester one's results are out at UniSA's portal (my academic records). The business subject that I took is not out yet but generally, dissapointing. No High D. Signs to work harder for semester two. Anyways, I got Credit for Digital Media Technique (damn, I seriously thought I can get a Distinction) and Issues in Publication and Design (the blogging assignment killed me), and a Distinction for Public Relations (ok, I gotta admit that this is the only subject I was so confident in getting a High D but damn!). It's just, membabikan.

Speaking about that, I was chatting with my friend about some cgpa matters. I was wondering how are they going to calculate the gpa and cgpa. She then asked me why I was so worried about it. How can I not worry about it? Especially now when my sem one's result is not fantastic. I'm not giving pressure to myself, I just want my degree to look good and convincing.

Erm, have you guys seen U Mobile's advertisements? I'm not promoting it ok but I really like their tv commercials (tvc), especially prepaid's. Print ads so-so only but it attracted my attention to look at it. Back to the tvcs, I think they are interesting because U Mobile's USP is they only charge for what you call as the tagline goes "Call The Shots". For example, if you only talk for five seconds, they only charge for the five seconds. Other operators charge for 30 seconds' rate if I'm not mistaken. The tvcs look different from other telco's tvcs too, I don't how to describe but they just look different, for the better. Please don't think that I'm being bias towards U Mobile just because I'm working for them. You go watch the tvcs first.

Ohh by the way, U Mobile's 018 is not bad afterall. We're giving out free starter packs with pre-loaded RM 1!

Haha. Just a lil' promotion lah.

Shirtliff versus Dynamitez

They created a new history for Cheer 2008 by being the first team ever to walk away with more than one award, all are big awards okay like the Best Showmanship award, Silkygirl Merit award (with no mistakes at all, no deductions) and orfcourse, the overall champion for Cheer 2008 which is organised by The Star, Youth 2. It was a tough decision between Shirtliff from SMK Seri Bintang Utara (formerly known as Bukit Bintang Girl School which the land is now being replaced by The Pavilion) and Dynamitez from SMK Damansara Jaya cause both teams performed equally well, very near to perfection. However, I personally think Shirtliff outshined Dynamitez abit due to their energetic routine and return-to-win attitude.

I was late with my friends, so I missed a few teams which I think could be in the top five. They were Titans, Blitzers, Stunners All-Boy, and Vulcanz All-Boy. You may think "Yer, guys also go for cheerleading?" but I can tell you, some all-boy teams are way better than girls ok. Results have proven it. The atmosphere was good and loud, with the majority supporters from SMK Convent Bukit Nanas (Xavier) all dressed in green, no wonder they went home with Best Supporter award. This award is usually dominated by Blitzers cause they will come in a few school buses. One interesting reason of me going to Cheer is because of the teamwork by all the teams and of course, the supporters from the respective school. It just makes you go 'Wow' when you see them perform synchronizingly.
The results are as follow (too many awards to be remembered, just to list a few):

Champion: Shirtliff (SMK Seri Bintang Utara)
1st Runner-up: Dynamitez (SMK Damansara Jaya)
2nd Runner-up: Stunner All-Boy (SM Sri KDU)
3rd Runner-up: Titans (SMK Ave Maria Convent)
4th Runner-up: Xavier (SMK Convent Bukit Nanas)

Best Newcomer: Pirates (Boys team from SMK Cochrane)
Best Dress: Can't remember but they're from SMK SS17 Subang Jaya.

This is hilarious but I think it is embarassing too cause when the host announced the Best Dress award went to SMK SS 17 Subang Jaya, one of the two teams ran happily to the floor mat to receive gifts but when they nicely posed to take picture, the host sensed something wrong. It was the wrong team, should be the other one instead. That was embarassing ok, but in the end both teams were there to take picture together. Hehe. I seriously cannot remember all the winning teams considering I'm very good already by remembering the top five teams.

Anyways, I was quite surprised that Blitzers from SMK Bdr Utama 4 did not make it into top five and was dissapointed with Sellors of SMK St.Mary. Something off the record, girls from St.Mary quite pretty lor but that was during my time in form five la. Lolz.

I actually recorded both Shirtliff and Dynamitez but somehow I couldn't upload the videos here. Guess will show it other time but I'm sure 8TV will air it soon. Just wait.

beyond my expectation

Friday night is never relaxing for me, very tiring instead cause I'm going to gym at Menara Standard Chartered every Friday to attend classes. Not yoga class, not dancing class, but for body combat and body pump. Oh girls, I think the reason why I eat so much and yet I can stay at 58 kg is because of body combat class. Don't hate me first, I'm giving you some tips ok? Let me continue, eerm, during body combat, we jump alot, stretch alot, and sweat alot too. That's the reason why I failed to gain weight I think. Body pump class is meant for muscle toning/firming. Two weeks ago, the instructor asked me to load up the weight to 7.5 kg each side. I can't say no cause he took the two 5 kg plates for me and today, it happened again. He asked me to load up the weight, so I was thinking ok lar, nevermind I can add 1 kg at each side but he took another two 5 kg plates for me! That's 10 kg each side ok, which is enough to kill me but surprisingly, it wasn't too bad. Oh, the California Fitness at Menara Standard Chartered is relocating to Lot 10! *thumbs up*

My friends are wondering how can I survive for three jobs during my sem break which is now. Erm, why not? Not like I'm working three different jobs at the same time, I've arranged the schedule nicely in order for me to have my own sweet time to do whatever I like. But I can't deny that it is very tiring sometimes, like you work till night today then tomorrow morning another job. Money is never easy to earn, I won't understand that theory till I experience it. Working ar The Gym is...eerm..fun boring! Luckily I met Bao Li on the first day and same shift with my friend on the second day. The food and beverages there are pretty awesome, healthy somemore. As the gym is located facing the road, I always see nice cars around. The ones that I, maybe most of us can't afford to get one. Why there are people so filty rich?

I have friends coming back from the States, Australia, and Argentina but I don't have the time to go hang out with them. When my friend came back from Australia earlier this year, I promised her for lunch or dinner but it didn't happen. I hope I can make it this time or else I'll feel damn guilty but I think she's leaving soon. Lolz.

My result will be announcing very soon, my lecturer said end of next week cause the assigments are still under moderation. Guys, Ms. Jenny said check the result at UniSA's portal. Let me know when it's up there okay? Haih, just received a call telling me that I need to work tomorrow for U Mobile. So tired lah but what to do? I bet you all can see the $ symbol in my eyes. Hehe. I need to save money le, for Show Mi =)

b.r.e.a.k

Finally, I'm on semester break! Someone told me having one month break is good enough, I shouldn't complain so much. Fine, one month also not too bad actually but I will be working. Sigh~

Anyways, if you're wondering how was BCB finals yesterday then let me tell you. It was complicated and troublesome! Thank God I revised on the last tutorial questions, a few of them came out. Surprisingly, the MCQs were pretty easy and straight-forward but the short answer part, gosh. Not short at all, there were 20 questions on that section, I wrote for almost one full page for certain questions. I had a hard time okay. Just imagine sitting inside the exam hall (about 150 students) writing non-stop for three-and-a-half-hour, that was insane! I seriously don't know why there were students managed to leave the hall in just after one hour plus. That time, I was just finishing my fourth question I think. As much as I wanted to go washroom, time didn't allow me to do so. Even till the last few seconds, I was still trying my best to write something on the paper hoping to get higher marks. So sad right, but overall, it was not too bad.

As usual, I'll do some predictions at the end of the semester. I think this semester i'll be getting one hd, two d's, and one credit. Of course I hope will be getting something better than credit, say one hd and three d's but it's very hard to get high marks from Miss J's hands. Nevermind, I've worked hard and tried my best for all four subjects, should be proud of any grade that I'll be getting =)

exam fever

Yes, my degree course is assignment-based but somehow I have to take this subject called Buyer and Consumer Behaviour (BCB) at TBS and this subject allocates 50% for the final exams. As much as I thought this is just another 'Introduction to Human Behaviour', I'm wrong. Maybe that is the different between diploma and degree. Now that I think of it, I'd say the assignments in diploma are so easy. I believe all degrees are tough, no matter which course, be it medicine or mass comm. I seriously hate people when they underestimate those who are studying mass comm. I just don't like.

Back to BCB, I have 12 chapters to be revised. As a procrastinator, I not yet start at all but I don't worry much. Don't know, maybe the time is not here yet. Anyways, I do remember the important terms and definitions. All are still fresh in my mind. I have a goal for BCB and will work hard for it (Esther, the McFlurry deal yea). Looking at my current standing is not bad afterall, just a few points behind top scorer for BCB. Finishing 20 MCQs and 20 short answers (lecturer is expecting us to write half a page for each of the short answer, how 'short' for a short answer right?) in two hours and 30 minutes might be quite hard for me, knowing that I write alot although it is for short answer. Oh, we're considered as Non English Speaking Background, we're granted another 25 minutes. Plus 10 minutes reading time, I have three hours and five minutes to answer. I think it is sufficient enough.

Can't wait for BCB to end, then I'll be officially on my well-deserved semester break. Have been working so hard for this semester. Hopefully next semester will be better. Actually I think it will be cause my friend is back with me, at least for Reporting For Print. Hehe.

Was chatting with my ex-colleague at Starbucks recently, he asked me if I want to work in Starbucks again, but this time it is the one inside the shopping mall. I thanked him for offering but I rejected it. Yes, I miss the times I worked in Sbux KLCC 1 but I can't commit myself to it. I'll have a month's break only. My friend also introduced me a job that earns RM7.50/hour which I think is not bad (though as a promoter for U Mobile, I get RM120/day). The work scope is easy, just stand at the reception and scan members' card when they come in. It's a high-class gym by the way, the gym where Datuks and Datins go. My friend told me the gym provides Crocs sandals/slippers in the showering area. Damn, I hope California Fitness will do something on that. Lolz.

Time passes so fast, it's so late already. I promised myself that I will start to revise my BCB on saturday. Though my mood is not here yet but right after this, I'll grab my BCB notes and go through it. Looking forward to sunday night, will be having a family dinner celebrating my grandparents' birthdays.

the story of 0506

(Source: Teo, 2006)

June 27th, 2005, when the story of 0506 started. Without realising it, it has been three years we get to know each other my fellow 0506-ians. Thanks to National Service, it ruined my initial plan to start my diploma course in January but I'm truly blessed to have started in June instead.

Throughout the two-and-a-half-year diploma, I've gained so much, and lost so much. I don't want to talk about the sad things. Yeah, I have many wonderful friendships. Friends that can share so much things together. "We've been there together, We cried, we laughed, we scolded, we bitched, we did everything together," said Karen. We're not bitching lah Karen, it's just commenting. The RAWK activities, SPA drama competition, and the list goes on. There are so many things to be remembered, they are all worth it to be well kept in my brain.

Close friends? Yea, a few of them. My definition of close friends: when you can read your friend's mind without trying hard, eerm, in another word, clicked well. Sometimes it doesn't need a ruler to measure how close is your friendship with your friends, the chemistry that matters. Though it's only three years, but the feeling is like long long time ago.

Diploma has ended. Degree has started. Some of us already left Taylor's, some continuing in Taylor's. But no matter what, the 0506 will remain as what it is.

Monday, June 16, 2008

Sigh, I didn't sleep. Am enjoying a cup of coffee with some biscuits.

Anyway, I'm not sleepy at all.

burning midnight oil

Look at the time now, it's already close to 5 in the morning! I have just sent my assigment to AssignIT (to University of South Australia, via internet). Another one more to go, the worst ever, CSS. I seriously hate it lah.

I have 55 minutes to take a nap. Better go now. Nights.

three to go

Three more assignments to go, but the work load of each assignment is enough to give me sleepless nights. UniSA's assignments look easy but trust me, they are all heavy-loaded with strict marking scheme. Yes, I realised it's not easy to get a high distinction at all. So, what are my three assignments? First up is the Design & Publication's issues (to be posted at Blogspot), there are four to six posts. I hate this subject cause it is the toughest, as in the assignments. So many things need to be done, not forgetting countless readings to be read and analysed! Oh, Public Relations' 2500 words limited time assignment sounds good to me cause I think there isn't much problem when doing it. This should be my best subject throughout the semester =) (surprisingly huh). Lastly, it's the killing Digital Media Technique's cascading style sheet (css) assignment using notepad. Why on earth we need to learn on using notepad to do html and css when there is Dreamweaver?!

No, it's not the end for me yet. Buyer and Consumer Behaviour's final exam is tentatively on July 1st. Meaning to say, my semester is ending one/two weeks later than what it is supposed to be. All credits to the management of Taylor's College. Plain stupid.

Ohh, I went to Chilis KLCC yesterday to audit my beer thingy. When I ordered a Tiger bottle, the bar tender looked at me with a suspicious look.

"Can I look at your IC please?"

"Oh, I'm 21 years old"

"But I just want to see whether you're above 18 cause you look really young"

I'm flattered.

Cook Archuleta

It's that time of the year again, time to determine who's the next American Idol. Did you realise that the finale of American Idol would be in May? I remember I watched the moment Jordin Sparks was named American Idol last year while interning in Mc Cann. Lolz! Yes, we can watch tv while working, but not always lah.

Anyways, it's finally down to top two contestants which pretty much predictable from the beginning. David VS David, Cook and Archuleta. Based on the performance on the finale, my vote goes to David Cook. Simply because I can feel his presence there on stage while Archuleta's performance was so-so. It is forgettable. Nothing to be 'Hoo-Hah' about.

But, David Archuleta seems to be the judges' favourite idol (at least it's Simon). I think Simon is biased towards Archuleta. I seriously think Cook did better on the finale. Perhaps you guys can you-tube and see it yourself.

Who's going to win? I hope it will be David Cook but I think it is David Archuleta.
