1st Annual Teachout Gathering

Yesterday we had a family gathering
at my nephew Rick's property
on Otter Lake.

I have 1 sister -
we each have 2 sons....
not a big family.

We used to get together
on Mother's Day
Christmas
Mom's Birthday

Without mom...
Sis and I just don't see our nephews
and their families.

So we made a date -
for an outing at the lake.

It was nice.

It could have only been nicer
if my nephew Randy
(who lives in Tennessee)
and his kids
(who are grown and live in Georgia)
could have been there too.

With my boys - Landon and Levi
on cousin Rick's boat

Rick picked up the "big kids" -
Brooklyn, Nick, Sydney, Morgan & Mina
from the sandbar...
and dropped them off at the beach.

Later....
I got a picture of 3 of mom's grandsons
Rick - Ron - Jason

and then I said
"I want a picture with my boys"

To say that I am not photogenic
is putting it MILDLY
Soooo
here my son Ron (on the right) had just whipped off my sunglasses
and was about to take that left hand up to hold open my eyelid...
....because I usually shut my eyes when I get my picture taken...
and if you look very closely at my son Jason's mouth
you can tell those lips are forming the word SHUT
as in shut your mouth....because....YEP
my mouth is usually open.
OPEN mouth --- SHUT eyes
that is my usual pose ;-)
We got this
(eyes open - mouth shut)
and this...
eyes (again) open - mouth in a "sort of" smile

oh well .....
That's all we got.....

Last Weekend

Last Friday..
we went " up north"
a little ways
to yet another Amish community
where Bob had a job to look at.

Almost home,
Bob suggested we go to the U.P.
for the weekend...
I said,
"SOUNDS GREAT"
We packed a bag, fed our critters
and headed north again.

We knew we wanted to stay in Curtis,
arrived there about 9:30 PM...

This little spot is pretty much the reason we like this motel so much!

The next day -
we visited Grand Marais --
I LOVED it and I hope to go back someday...
just to spend a day or two walking that beach.

Oh yeah, Bob was there too.....
:-]]]]]

Last Week

Last week something...
we are pretty sure a raccoon,
got in the chicken coop
and killed one of these girls.
She was sitting on "a bunch" of eggs.
He left the eggs and didn't harm
any of the other chickens.
The next day -
Bob did some more patching on the roof
and we went to visit our
Amish friend for a price on material .
Hope we can get a new roof on SOON.....

Also last week...
I put on some of my thrift shop threads
and headed out thrift store shopping!!

Only found a couple of things ---
But still FUN!!!

While in the "big city"
I visited Hobby Lobby....
looking for nothing in particular..
just looking.
I was surprised to see an  aisle of
pumpkins and Autumn signs.
I was AMAZED to see....

CHRISTMAS!!!!
This was not the only aisle...
WAIT, isn't it only JUNE????
I can't believe it!!

Oh well, that is all for today...
Guess I will close with...
Merry Christmas to all!!!

Happy Birthday to You and You and You

Yesterday was a good day - - -
no, yesterday was a GREAT day!
I headed to Otisville, (my hometown)
to visit with my family...
the TEACHOUTS!
Sadly, most of times we come together
at this point in our lives seem to be to mourn.
There was no mourning yesterday.
There was CELEBRATING!

There was reminiscing...
sure, there was a bit of sadness,
(we have lost too many loved ones not to have some sadness)
but maybe because of our lost loved ones
we were more able to just enjoy the moment --
enjoy each other.
We celebrated the birthday of  Darlene,
the wife of my cousin Carl,
who left us way too soon.....

It WAS a great day!
I am "borrowing" some of my cousin Shelly's pictures...
(You can't be dancing and taking pics at the same time)

SO much fun!
I have to thank my cousin Darla...
too many times I have  been to celebrations
and watched everyone else dance and have fun...

Darla just danced and danced and danced.
When I said "I need to rest"
she said, "soon you will be resting forever,
COME ON, Let's DANCE!"
Thank you cousin..I will remember that!
Darlene, the birthday girl, with Yevonne (my sis)

I left this party to go to my son's house.
A party to celebrate my granddaughter Morgan's 13th birthday.
WHAT???
Our Morgan is a teenager????
My beautiful 13 year old girl!!!
Because there was just toooooo many birthday celebrations this weekend...
I missed my grandson Landon's 5th birthday celebration..
so I gave him his card on Sunday...

He seemed OK with that... :-)
Happy 5th Birthday Landon!
Y E S
It was a GREAT Day!!
