Coup de foudre

Je t'avais seulement aperçu de loin... jusqu'à aujourd'hui. Et puis, nos yeux se rencontrent et... coup de foudre!*

Okay, not exactly true. But that Pikachu is cute! A bit hard to the touch, but probably that's how it keeps its cute pose. Anyway, this is the same Pikachu I posted about in this post, when I took a photo from a distance. Today I went to take a look after lunch, because I happened to come back rather early and no one was there.

And these are its two Shin Chan friends, which look nowhere as cute.

*I had only seen you from afar, until today. And then, our eyes met and... love at first sight!

"Coup de foudre" means "love at first sight" in French, or literally, "bolt of thunder". (wow, I just realized how apt this expression is for Pikachu :P )

Flashing headlights

On my way home from work today, there was a car flashing its headlights at another car that was trying to cross a junction. (It's not the first time I've seen this, of course, but it's the first time I'm writing about it.)

You know, I can never understand what flashing headlights mean. Does it mean, "Hey, let me pass", or "Go ahead and pass"? How do you figure it out?

I just posted this on my Facebook as well, I do hope I will get some answers. :P

Time to relax... or was it?

This time (click here for last time) it is National Relaxation Day!

But it seems that Firefox is late (or relaxing overtime), because National Relaxation Day is supposed to be on the 15th of August. Are we too relaxed, we don't even know the day has passed?

(I meant to post this yesterday but forgot. So this post is a day late, and the relaxing fox was on my browser on the 17th.)

Fire Bulbasaur

With Pokemon Go out, some people who have never played Pokemon in their lives are jumping onto the bandwagon. One such example is my colleague, and this is the exchange that took place between us:

Me: So what was your starter Pokemon?
Colleague: *hesitates*
Me: Just tell me the colour.
Colleague: Orange. Bulbasaur, I think.

For those of you who know Pokemon, that should be hilarious :D

Because, you see, there are three starter Pokemon, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. (Here's a Google image search to show you what they look like) They are respectively fire type, grass type, and water type Pokemon, and they have colours to match (orange, green, and blue). So... saying that you have an orange Pokemon and then saying it is the green Bulbasaur is a bit.... ahem.

(Note: I'm not playing Pokemon Go, but I am still keeping myself updated in how the game works)

On a separate note, I saw a Pikachu in the office!

I've seen it earlier than today, but today I managed to snap a photo (from quite far away). Today she has these two Shin Chan dolls, one wearing a Pikachu suit and the other wearing an Eeyore suit. Not nice. (I never liked Shin Chan anyway) The actual Pikachu's cuter!

Alpaca love

I saw some alpacas in Daiso today.

Yeah, they're chair leg socks, to prevent your chair legs from scraping the floor. I wanted to buy them, but I didn't know what to do with them. I wasn't going to put them on chair legs and make them dirty!

So I reluctantly left them behind after taking a photo. They were so soft too! ♥

Now I am trying to think of some use for these mini-socks so that I can buy them if I see them again... any ideas? :P

Purple bookworm fox

As I have mentioned before, at work I don't have a home page for my Mozilla Firefox browser. This week I am greeted by a cute purple fox reading a book.

See the fox at the bottom? The recommended list is here, and I've downloaded two of Cory Doctorow's e-books from craphound.com already. But reading them will be for another day... I have too many things to read!

Dinner at Meltz

Yesterday we went to a cafe called Meltz. I found it on Groupon, with an offer of one main dish, one drink, and one cup of ice-cream (two scoops) for RM19 per person.

After we placed our order, we were given a plate of complimentary chocolate. Not sure whether it was because preparing our order would take long. We had seen the display of chocolates when we came in, but there was no price indicated.

From left: raspberry, cappuccino, orange and oreo (I checked after the meal :P )

Pan-fried barramundi fish (normal price RM25.90)

Seabass with an orange and caper dressing (normal price RM24.90)

Salmon with mango and fennel (normal price RM24.90)

Smoked duck breast (normal price RM22.90)

All the dishes came with the same side dishes, which were vegetables and potatoes. The only difference was whether the potatoes were presented separately with a creamy sauce on it, or whether they were used as a base for the vegetables.

The plates for the fish were huge... but the plate used for the duck was smaller for some reason. That is why there is less empty space on the plate :P The presentation of the dishes is really well done, and the service was very nice and courteous, but the food was really slow... The barramundi (siakap) and the seabass came first, and we had to wait quite some time for the salmon. By that time, the first two dishes were more than half-eaten, and by the time the duck arrived, we had been pushing the food around our plates for a while, and one dish had been finished (with the second one unfinished simply because we were trying not to finish it).

So thankfully the taste was able to make up for it! (and probably because we were not too hungry yet) As for the drinks and ice-cream, we had the choice of orange, apple or mango juice (sold at RM5.90 normally) and then blueberry, raspberry, strawberry or vanilla ice-cream (one cup is priced at RM5).

Siamese twins

A few weeks ago, I bought a bunch of bananas that has a pair of Siamese twins.

See it?

And after peeling:

Looks like they're only joined at the skin!

The NJOI guide

We have NJOI at home, and the visitors often forget how to use the extra remote control. So I drew up a guide:

It's exaggerated of course... pourquoi faire simple quand on peut faire compliqué? :P
