Today I have a fairy tale for you.
Once there was a little girl who worked on weekdays and therefore did not have time to cook. She had to resort to buying hawker food for dinner on the way home each day.
One day, a kind witch gave her a magic pot. With this pot, she could heat up some food in the morning, place it in the pot, and say, "Cook, little pot, cook!" The pot would continue cooking the food until it was ready to be eaten, then keep it warm for when the little girl returned home from work. This way, the girl could enjoy a home-cooked meal for dinner, even on weekdays.
The end.
I present you...the Magic Saver Cooker!
It was actually my mother who suggested that I buy it from Cosway. Retail price RM200, but with some redemption points (which my parents had on their account) I got it for RM100. (both prices rounded up 10 sen, in case you're wondering ;P )
I bought it last weekend and have already used it a few times...it's really convenient! Actually we have to bring the food to boil, then let it simmer for 10-15 minutes before putting it into the cooker. Then the cooker will continue cooking the food and keep it warm for 6-8 hours. (which means that by the time I come home in the evening, the food will already be cold...but for the purposes of the story I decided to keep it all sunny :P )
Also, it's only suitable for dishes with at least a bit of sauce or soup (so that you can bring it to boil, you see...), so that means I have to plan for only certain kinds of dishes. I can't cook vegetables with it (unless if I want vegetable soup every day), so I'll have to either have sliced cucumber (which doesn't go with all dishes) or make some quick boiled veggies. Which means I would still have to cook a bit...and that's why I'm not using it every day. But it already allows me to plan for one or two dinners a week... (for weekdays, I mean) and even during weekends it does make things easier if I can just leave something to cook by itself rather than checking it on the stove!
The inner pot (which we have to use to cook in) is high, so not really easy to stir things inside. But I guess that's what helps keep the heat in...
But all in all, I'm really satisfied with it...a magic pot indeed!

On another note...does anyone know that fairy tale I adapted my story from?
The magic porridge pot...about a little girl who was hungry and received a magic porridge pot... She had to say, "Cook, little pot, cook!" for the pot to start cooking delicious porridge, and when she had had enough, she had to say, "Stop, little pot, stop!"
The story ended with the girl's mother using the pot and forgetting how to tell it to stop, so the whole village was flooded with porridge until the girl came home and told the pot to stop making porridge.
Did anyone read that story too?
