The scary bridge

It's time to share photos from Langkawi's Oriental Village! And that would include the cable car as well...

the lake in the middle of the village

another end of the lake

There were several bridges across the lake (because one end was like a river, actually...)
Then here's the main attraction, the cable car. There are three stations, the bottom station where we take the cable car, the middle station where we can take photos, and the top station where we can go and take a walk on the famous suspension bridge.

Then from the middle station:

The suspension bridge is a little way down from the top station...to get there we have to walk along a small trail.

This is it! On the suspension bridge

It's really scary if you are scared of heights...because once you're in the middle of the bridge, it's like you're out in the open, floating in the air. Of course, it's a way to be walking in the air without magic...and that's the point of the whole thing. But I couldn't walk the whole length of the bridge...I was afraid I would get stuck in the middle, not daring to move either way. -_-

This is as far as I went...before turning around and heading back :s
At the very top, we were at an altitude of 700m, as a signboard kindly informed us. :P

In an earlier photo, we could see two round things at the top station...here they are.
one of the "round things", for lack of a better name

the other "round thing", where there was a stall selling drinks and hot dogs/burgers

Telaga Tujuh (Seven Wells)
We didn't go there, so this is the only photo we can get (though even if we did go there, we wouldn't get this photo. Haha...)

And to end this post...some rabbits!

There was a petting zoo (with only rabbits, if I'm not mistaken) in the Oriental Village. We didn't go in, but some of the rabbits were near the fence.

Hello there...

another one came along...

Whatcha lookin' at? (grumpy, huh...)

this one is cute!
On that dose of cuteness...please wait for the next instalment! ;)

Cook, little pot, cook!

Today I have a fairy tale for you.

Once there was a little girl who worked on weekdays and therefore did not have time to cook. She had to resort to buying hawker food for dinner on the way home each day.

One day, a kind witch gave her a magic pot. With this pot, she could heat up some food in the morning, place it in the pot, and say, "Cook, little pot, cook!" The pot would continue cooking the food until it was ready to be eaten, then keep it warm for when the little girl returned home from work. This way, the girl could enjoy a home-cooked meal for dinner, even on weekdays.

The end.

I present you...the Magic Saver Cooker!

It was actually my mother who suggested that I buy it from Cosway. Retail price RM200, but with some redemption points (which my parents had on their account) I got it for RM100. (both prices rounded up 10 sen, in case you're wondering ;P )

I bought it last weekend and have already used it a few times...it's really convenient! Actually we have to bring the food to boil, then let it simmer for 10-15 minutes before putting it into the cooker. Then the cooker will continue cooking the food and keep it warm for 6-8 hours. (which means that by the time I come home in the evening, the food will already be cold...but for the purposes of the story I decided to keep it all sunny :P )

Also, it's only suitable for dishes with at least a bit of sauce or soup (so that you can bring it to boil, you see...), so that means I have to plan for only certain kinds of dishes. I can't cook vegetables with it (unless if I want vegetable soup every day), so I'll have to either have sliced cucumber (which doesn't go with all dishes) or make some quick boiled veggies. Which means I would still have to cook a bit...and that's why I'm not using it every day. But it already allows me to plan for one or two dinners a week... (for weekdays, I mean) and even during weekends it does make things easier if I can just leave something to cook by itself rather than checking it on the stove!

The inner pot (which we have to use to cook in) is high, so not really easy to stir things inside. But I guess that's what helps keep the heat in...

But all in all, I'm really satisfied with it...a magic pot indeed!

~~~~~~~~~~~~
On another note...does anyone know that fairy tale I adapted my story from? The magic porridge pot...about a little girl who was hungry and received a magic porridge pot... She had to say, "Cook, little pot, cook!" for the pot to start cooking delicious porridge, and when she had had enough, she had to say, "Stop, little pot, stop!"
The story ended with the girl's mother using the pot and forgetting how to tell it to stop, so the whole village was flooded with porridge until the girl came home and told the pot to stop making porridge.
Did anyone read that story too?
A trashy gift
When WW is around, he is the one who takes out the trash every night. The other day, I had tied up the trash from my bathroom and I told him something like, "Hey, there's another bag of trash for you."
And he said, "You don't have to say it so nicely...like you're giving me a present."
So I asked him what I should say instead. Turns out the right thing to say is, "Sorry, you have more work to do." Hahaha...
A firmly sealed bottle
A few days ago, I had to open a new bottle of soy sauce.
When I opened it, I saw this:
I have been buying this exact same brand before this, and the inner seal was one with a ring, and you pull the ring to open it. But this...no ring to pull. I tried pressing down on it but it wouldn't budge.
Have you seen this kind of seal before? If you haven't, take a little time to think about how you would have opened it... I would like to hear your ideas in the comments!
If you're done thinking... (or just don't want to think at all) what I finally did was to cut it open with a knife. I came to the conclusion that it was what the manufacturers intended us to do...because with the two different-sized circles in the middle, by cutting horizontally we could choose how big we wanted the opening to be. (I chose to make it small. If it doesn't work so well, I will make it bigger :P )
And also...I think I've seen this kind of seal somewhere. But I've forgotten where...maybe one of the bottles in my mother's kitchen?
Don't get addicted!
The other day I found this stopwatch game online, through this post about interesting online clocks. It challenges you to click twice as quickly as possible, once to start the stopwatch and the other to stop it.
After a few tries, I got these times: (I noted these down when it looked like I wasn't going to break my record so easily the next time :P )
0.123 s
0.116 s
0.072 s
And then...out of the blue, came this:
0.005 seconds?!!! That's 5 milliseconds! I somehow think that that was a trick of my mouse...it probably clicked twice when I clicked it once.
Anyway, just before typing this post, I tried again a few times, and I got 0.050 s. Not too bad... and now I've got to stop before I get addicted to it like I did Minesweeper :P
