Back from India!

15 days away from home...
12 days in e village of Bukkapatna,
2 days in city of bangalore,
1 day in e air...

days in the village were simple n joyful...
the kids made us feel like superstars...
their conversation starter was always: "wat is ur name?"
which gets abit irritating after a while...
the adults were hospitable and helpful...
esp our caretaker.. who is onli 25 yr old.. but doesn't look his age.. hehe.. =P

the main projects we did:
-painting of pri sch
-teaching english at high sch
-cultural exchange w pharm colleges
-establishing an english language learning centre for e high sch
-health camp n health screening

everyday was enjoyable w new things to learn n experience...
there's so much to write abt tat i dunnoe how to write them all down.. haha..
so i will juz note down some of e more significant stuff ba..

e weather there was cooling but dry...
so it irritated my throat q alot..
in e end i had sore throat.. n by day 5 i developed a fever... =(
luckily i recovered after resting for 1 day... =)

blackouts were rather common in e village...
n if there's blackout.. highly likely there will not be any water supply..
cos e water is pumped up to e water tank which will den flow down to our taps..
so our torches realli came in handy... heez..

the ppl there can realli party n dance...
we transformed 1 cafe into a club like place during 1 of e nites when we were invited to dinner..
n yanling is realli a gd dancer! haha..
i was an em3 dancer.. haha..

our favourite past time when we had nothing to do was to either play uno...
or gossip n try to dig out scandals... hahaz...

also played w e love tarot cards tat bx brot over...
i got alot of bad cards.. =( boohoohoo...

rode on a motorbike for e 1st time with 3 ppl on e bike...
haha! all thx to jingkai... who even tried to purposely slant e bike to scare us!

realised tat e food e ppl eat r realli just to fill their tummy..
not for taste or anything...
really juz to stop their hunger onli...
rice w sam bar... i dun tink i can survive on this everyday...
realli abit xin suan to tink tat e kids at mutt eat tat everyday...

cooking was done in a little room on e floor..
realli v yuan shi.. haha..
n i noe how to cook rice w/o a rice cooker!
amazing!! =)

the villagers love to take photos...
they will be so happy when u take a photo of them n den show it to them...
simple stuff like tat can make them so happy...
i tink it is something realli worth learning from them...

i saw shooting stars!!
i saw a real sunset!!
as in the sun literally xia shan!
e feeling was indescribable...
got a natural high lo..

the chai (tea) there was fantastic!!
super nice de can...
cant find a nicer tea in spore...

almost cant come bac to sg cos we din confirm our flight..
n we were offloaded from e plane...
sounds scary?
haha.. but strangely.. i din feel a thing when i was told this news...
i din mind staying over there for a longer time.. =P
but in e end it worked out n we were able to come back...

now to introduce e 20 other members of our DAD 07:
bingxun - leader aka gd bf aka vincent (cos his name was always mispronounced in india)
yong qiang - leader who speaks too softly but is v caring towards every member on e team
shu fang - big eyed efficient secretary who is sweet, pretty n nice
xue ting - meticulous treasurer aka loan shark who lends $ to us when we were broke in bangalore
azza - the boss of programme cell n a humourous talented gal
kah mun - leader of my cooking group who like to speak of herself as a third person and always wakes up early!
clara - the most lovable game goddess who is so innocently sweet n who also happens to be my angel
yanling - as i have mentioned, e fantastic dancer who is so ever confident in front of an audience..
wanling - another gd dancer in e grp n also a gd cook!
yao yao - another early waker n gd cook too!
jielin - ex-comb gang member who is a v capable leader of e health camp n health screening
felicia - great singing voice from NJC choir!
choon pei - leader of marketing comm n also a member in my cooking grp who provides life saving ikan bilis!
n now for COT members...
zhi yuan - a realli nice guy who happens to also noe alot of my frens from anderson... tot he looks q dao at 1st impression but realli q a happy go lucky guy..
edwin - typical chinese high guy who is crowned chapteh king by dad 07... haha.. din expect a 183cm guy like him can have such a soft side! his theme song: qing qing he bian cao... haha!
kuang kai - promising village head for bukkapatna...who is realli popular w e indian kids.. a leng mian xiao jiang... my mortal! most memorable line from his kkfc: kuang kai, wat is ur name?
jingkai - oldest n most experienced member of e team, always taking beautiful photos of everything in sight
hooi ching - leader of log cell.. v capable gal who gets high easily n cares alot for e team members.. can be crazy at times but it's e reason she's so lovable
mindy - e strong joyful gal who is always smiling at others.. popular w e indian guys.. esp mr painter who allowed her to be his onli helper... haha!
huilin - my buddy for this trip.. a gal who noes wat she wants n is not afraid to voice out her own opinions.. a fantastic cook! can be forgetful bout where she places her stuff sometimes.. =P

went to agnes' bday party...
ate like an er gui cos when we reached... we were freaking hungry!!
gd thing there's gd food! =)

v bu hao yi si de went bac to cwp gu*rdi*n to buy some medications n essentials...
saw ms tan.. jiaguo.. meilin.. n er.. chaki also..
ms tan even intro us again...
i felt q paiseh lo.. cos i always ignore his sms.. =P
we onli smile, nod n say hello.. den no more.. =P
i tink he dun care abt me alrdy..
which is a gd thing.. =)

den i will be less qi guai ba.. haha!

now i dun realli feel prepared for e trip!!

i finally ran e stand chart 10k...
slower timing...
but it's my 3rd 10k run this yr!
so proud of myself.. haha..
i used to find 2.4k v tough alrdy...
now.. wahahah..
i can run 10k!!
even thou is v xin ku-ly...
like wanna die alrdy... legs aching like dunnoe wat...
i guess cos it's due to lack of training and stretching ba... =(
but i got e 10k medal!! hehe..
jiejie got 42k medal!! not cos she ran 42k..
but cos she took e wrong medal... hahaha..
my jiefu however, did run e 42k...
so li hai.. i can never imagine myself running 42k in this lifetime.. =P

juz discovered something tremendously sweet...

Back Tracking...

just want to write down some of e stuff tat happened over e past wk...
=) was too lazy/tired to do so previously...
due to e mugging for ph*rm*co n MC~ =P

anyway...
alrdy toked abt last fri...
so now i shall tok bout last sunday!
last sun had dinner w jrm...
cos he was muggin in wdland's lib n asked if wanted to eat dinner at 9pm...
so oki lo.. went to meet him cos anyway i had to post some letters...
naturally by 9pm i had alrdy eaten...
i onli pei him.. sat there drinking his coke... hee...
he toked bout how unprepared he was for his paper....
n refused to listen to me tat i was also super not prepared for my tests n papers...=P
so bad rite.. onli he can be unprepared... *blah*

hehe.. but seriously... meeting him for dinner was not a wasted trip!
cos he offered me a ride to hall e nxt morn cos he was driving to his sch~
lalala!! yes.. i am pampered~ hehe... zhen hao!

so i was v guai... woke up at 6.15am (dunnoe how long i never wake so early le..)
n met him at e busstop at 7am...
i was early lo.. so guai...
n he said i was dependable.. haha.. *bu hao yi si la!*

reached sch super early...n so we went for breakfast at biz canteen...
which i din realli like.. esp e drinks stall.. still prefer sci de! =D
to bao da him for sending me to sch...
i went w him to biz lib to help him borrow txtbk for his mod...
lalala... i lied to get him inside e lib... cos now need matric card to go in de mar...=P *guiltyguilty*

anyway e bk borrowing thing was a success...
so he drove me bac to hall...
locked me inside his car... so tat when i opened e door.. e car alarm blasted n i'm sure all e ppl in dining hall were staring at me when i alighted.. *super paiseh* evil guy~ =P lucky not many ppl there...
den visited bert..(or rather we caught him at his door when he was abt to leave)
den went up to my rm to be pirate... cos of my new cd la.. =P
n i realised i left my cd cover in his car...
all becos he never bother to help me carry my laptop, bag, breakfast, etc...
he only carry his precious lappie!!!

ai.. so i had to climb down to his car...
den send him off.. den climb bac up again...
sweating like crazy by e time i reach my rm again...
n den i realised i forgot to return his hanger to him!!! aiz.. how blur can i get...

we made a discovery tat hell is divided into departments..
MC dept... Ph*rm*co dept... etc.. w their respectively lecturers.. muhahaz!
den we went co-op... started talking to pens...
haha.. we were going nuts... tink we scared afew guys away.. =P
learnt a new phrase: bi bu ke mao xiang, bi mo bu ke dou liang..
cos she said all e pen cover colours were diff from their actual ink colours.. haha..
so we came up w e phrase... stupidly la.. =P

n now i'm bac in my rm after nua-ing away my nite...

Last Friday...

i went out cos i couldn't take it alrdy...
stuck in my room mugging all day long was making me v sian...
so i decided to go out for awhile by myself to breath in some air outside nus~

my destination: Bugis Junction~

i have no idea how much bugis has changed...
e lovely coffee bean is gone...
fortunately starbucks is still ard~ whee!
ordered a frap n sat outdoors... drinking n mugging anti-viral =X
haha.. but it was a gd change of environment...
plus i could listen to my bu neng shou de mi mi soundtrack...
this is LIFE man!! felt so you zai xian zai... even thou i had e burden of pharmaco.. =P

anyway.. w regards to changes in bugis...
i realised there are no more cd shops in bugis..
except for poh kim..
which amazingly doesn't sell jay chou spore edition cd..
all china de..
so i din buy.. cos e packaging looks q...er... plasticy?
i bot e cd when i went bac home on sat morn instead.. at causeway!

so qiao tat on e day i went bugis.. xiaozhu was also going..
haha.. saw many xiao mei meis queuing up lo...
so i sms-ed sh...
she sadly wanted to come.. but couldn't.. cos she got lessons!
muahah.. so i said i'll take some photos of e stage...
not of xiaozhu la.. cos i also wont stay until so late to wait for him n to ren ji ren w xiao meimei... =P

In the end...
we still lack a chia hong...
but i still enjoyed myself during the dinner! =)

Wedding dinner @ Malaysia~

went over to malaysia on sunday morn...
cos jie jie n william had wedding dinner at nite...
had to wake up early on sunday morning too~ so sadded...
anywayz... reached my ah ma's place at ard 11.30am...
started eating buffet food... which was yummilicious!
*slurp!*

den was another jing cha ceremony...
followed by them going out to do up their hair...
i juz stayed at ah ma's place to read some of my notes n slack ard...
soon my spore cousins they all arrived too...
so i got someone to tok to~ hehe...
*i was not shou w my malaysian cousins... plus they all little kids running ard e hse screaming n all.. i couldn't join in at all.. hahaz.. *

finally it was evening n we all got ready to go...
this time round i tink we all dressed more sui bian alrdy cos e ppl here also dun wear until v formal... =P
n i was e photographer of e day so dun need wear too nice la.. hahaz..
my cousin joel also was part of e papparazzi team.. hehez...
so we went ard taking photos of everything n anything~
he lousily couldn't control his camera lo.... den kanna complained by everyone... muahhaaz..

soon we were all eating...
e food wasn't as gd as spore's dinner...
but it was ok la...
shark's fin tasted v weird thou... XP

e malaysia wedding dinner was v different from e spore wedding dinner...
becos thruout e dinner...
there were ppl singing...
as in KTV style singing on stage... u can go n dian ge to sing lo...
those ppl who went up to sing r our relatives yes... but i really dunnoe who they r...
cos i've never even seen them before...
so it was q weird.. n e songs that they sing has got no link to weddings at all...
some of them even brot their own cds to sing...
amazing rite...
i've got no memory tat malaysia weddings r like tat... even thou i've attended afew when i was v v young... =P
but it was q funnie thou...
cos my mama sabotaged my uncle (joel's dad)...
got him up to sing songs... hahaz..
joel supported his papa by taking photos.. heez...

e dinner ended n we all went bac...
actually quite tired alrdy...
but i still managed to study abit of e practical schedules tog w joel...
he was studying for his bio module test...
was nice to study w him cos halfway he got up to make milo!!
n i got him to make 1 extra cup for me.. muahahaz...

joel is of e same age as me.. but i'm older than him by 19 days...
n he's studying chem engine in ntu now...
tat explains y we r closer among all e cousins...
cos from young play tog until now...
den same age got more similar topics to tok bout also...*

tat's pretty much e whole trip to malaysia..
we left in e late morning to get bac to SG...
after we played w little puppies tat we saw outside someone's hse!
so super adorable!!! wish i could bring 1 home! =P
1 of e puupy tried to bite my toe... hahaz.. so ke ai!
forgot to take pic of them.. so sad... =S

den now it's bac to sch~ cos jiejie finally finished all her wedding things!!!

1)retracted my s/u option...
so now i got 3 s/u to use again...

2)saw my med chem grades...
unexpectedly lah...
i tot i would fail...
but i got a gd grade wor!
thanking my lucky stars for that!!

William n Jiejie's wedding!!!

i'm finally free to blog again after the v xiong pharmaco test which was today...
8 chapters worth of drugs to memorise n according to serene...
there were approx 50 drug names!
omg.. din realise i actually studied tat much~ =P

Yup yup.. the wedding was last sunday, 21st October 2007~
i realised weddings r really quite tiring...
by the end of the night we were all pretty jaded... =P

Sunday morning:
woke up at 6.30am...
prepared the props for teasing the groom...*evil grinz*
get changed n anyhow makeup by myself.. (no one help me cos my jie jie was busy having her makeup by the makeup artist at e same time!)
e photographers had arrived by this time n were snapping away at jiejie...
relatives n my jiejie's jiemei tuan arrived...
hohoho... time to lock e door n await e groom's arrival~

the groom finally arrived...
n e jiemei tou (peggy) started e bargaining with him...
in total we played 4 games which include
1)william having to sing barbie girl with a mop on his head, a ladle as a mic, toilet brush as a comb
2)posing for e camera in stupid poses like spastic, sexy, 007, cute interchangably
3)writing a love poem for jiejie (which turned out like a pri sch level poem haha!)
4)wo cai wo cai wo cai cai cai (looking at pic, guessing e location, e significance, n finally acting it out..)
5)this one was not a game but a service provided.. haha.. he had to pay $50 bucks for 15min of fan power.. (cos william is v afraid of e heat.. =P)
he did well for all e above...
so he was allowed in after giving several ang paos.. hahaz...
but he still cant go into e room to get jiejie yet!
e final task was to do push ups n shout out e love poem outside e room until my jiejie is satisfied... muahahz...

finally he was allowed to go into e room to c my beautiful jiejie...
so they jing cha n everything to our relatives n i also had to jing cha to them!
i din know tat.. hahaz.. but gd also la.. cos i got ang pao! =P
all these while william (i shld say jiefu) was giving me e evil stare cos of e teasing of e groom.. i juz chose to ignore him =P

Sunday afternoon:
after eating chatting n stuff...
i accompanied jiejie to jiefu's place...
they also jing cha n everything...
den we eat again~~~ *full like dunnoe wat alrdy.. XP*

finally.. jiejie n jiefu headed for e hotel while i went bac home...
once i got home... it was time for me to pack stuff to bring to e restaurant!
plus i had to go styling for hair...
busy busy... rushing for time~
i q like e style e hairstylist did for me.. =)
looks youthful!! hahaz..

Sunday evening:
finally headed to e restaurant to find jiejie n jiefu...
again did my own makeup while jiejie n mama had theirs done by e makeup artist...
(i din get mine done by e makeup artist cos it cost 80 bucks per person! so muz cut cost... =P)
finally everyone was mei mei n ready for e solemnisation ceremony...
exchange of vows n rings n e impt kiss to seal e promise of a lifetime!! =)
yes.. both families witnessed e whole event!

next up was e wedding dinner itself...
i was responsible for reception tog w afew of jiejie's frens...
stressed-up la! so many ppl come at e same time n papa n mama juz keep telling me who who who come alrdy in a very unclear manner... fortunately... all was well at e end w everybody's help...
e pretty ang bao box n corsage i made also came to gd use! hahaz... =)

settled into my seat promptly at e family table...
i enjoyed e dinner much cos i was happily seated beside my 2 cousins (joel n jonathan)...
they provided much entertainment thruout...
joel was so blur it was realli funnie...
1st he tot some chinese herb was a piece of chicken meat n ate it... haha! his rxn was so funny when he realised it was herb la! haha...
2nd he said he chose to drink red wine cos he tot it was classy but he din realli noe how to appreciate it... haha! gd thing i learnt abit abit last time from wenjun.. =P so taught him e bit i know.. hahaz..
3rd he argued tat e dessert was not honey dew sago but rock melon dew sago cos they used rock melon but e problem was there was no such thing as a rock melon dew.. hahaz~
me n my ah ma also kept pushing wat we cant finish eating to e 2 nan rens.. haha.. in e end i tink we made them v full.. =P
e other funnie thing was during yam seng~ hahaz...
my jie fu found a group of runners to be his yam seng party...
so they realli realli yam seng for super long!! never ending...
cos they got huge lungs! hahaz...

tat's pretty much bout it...
e dinner ended n i took a ride bac to hall...
i knocked out on my bed straight after my shower...
cos realli super lei... =P
but i tink everyone was also v happy that night... =)
a great event! hahaz...
another dinner this coming wkend at malaysia..

last week i had my vaccinationsss
hep A n typhoid... for yep...
they also drew a big tube of my blood!! *pain*
severe muscle aches after tat... =P
yuan lai e vaccinations r so exp!!
last time in sch always juz go for jabs when they tell us to... dun even noe e price lo...

got ppl get chicken pox in sch...
so scary! wat if they accidentally spread to me?
i never got chicken pox before! many other ppl also never got before... YJ also scared.. hahaz..
n this guy he came bac to sch 1 wk after he kanna...
like tat isn't it q dangerous??
feeling so paranoid tat i begin to increase my vit C uptake in e hope of increasing my immunity!

we had loads of fun playing uno!!

plus e food is yummilicious!
n there were pretty n delicious cupcakes!!

v fast jiu full alrdy.. n we had to hide e unfinished food somewhere..

st john island!!

Slpt realli late e previous nite cos of project meeting...

slpt at 3+am?

n had to wake up at 7am...

so i onli slpt for 4hrs.. yawn yawn...

in the end i mis-calculated the timing n reached 40 min earlier...

so blur rite.. i could have gotten 40 more min of slp... =S

so to wei lao myself... i had this delicious breakfast at city hall!

Den it was time to make our way to the destination...

15 bucks to n fro~ our transportation is by sea!!!

like some time haven sit on ferry alrdy...

so exciting... all my slpiness vanished once i boarded the boat.. (got aircon de lo) hahaz..

we actually stopped by kusu island 1st...

there was a 30min break before they would set off to st john...
so we alighted and walked ard the tiny kusu island...
took some photos and made a wish at the wishing well!!
we also bai bai abit at the temple... =)

got many small wu gui there lo...

finally... we reached st john island...

there was only 1 bungalow on e island n it was e one we were staying at..
it was actualli not bad...
except for e scary barbed wires surrounding the whole area...
felt like we r prisoners like tat... hahaz...
we took a walk ard e island...
n e scenery was not bad~

nobody de beach n sampan... reminded me of someone who said he wan to sail off away in a sampan... hahaz.. so romantic ar~ =P

den i found out it wasn't a sampan...
cos it had a motor.. hahaz..
we can actualli c singapore mainland from e beach! nice wor...

after e walk under e hot hot sun...
we went bac to our comfy aircon bungalow...
rested and played a funny game.. forgot e title le.. =P
but it was funnie.. n i tink i have q bad communication skills.. hahaz..

at nite me n huilin prepared pasta for everyone!
poor us were doing the mosquito dance as we cooked cos there were loads of mosquitoes!! my legs were terribly bitten.. n bx n jk each took a video n photo of my leg respectively... muahhaz...

ngrateful to e guys who helped us light up mosquito coils to drive away all e mosquitoes finally.. n also kill all sorts of bugs tat were flying in... n to scare away the cats tat were attempting to come into e kitchen.. hahaz.. they like so busy like tat...
finally dinner was all served n e few of us sat down at e kitchen n had a gd meal w coke!! woohoo!

after dinner was more games...

n i love the runner singlet tat they gave!

actualli i was v disappointed...

i dun c them even grabbing a space in e front rows to support our float...
there wasn't any qi shi at all...
super sad...

6 weeks r finally over…
Today is my last day…

Thinking bac…
I was realli q apprehensive bout going to work initially..
Worried bout how my work place would be like…
Will there be gd ppl??
Will I be able to adapt??
Etc etc… loads of unknowns…

But fortunately…
I was attached to a gd shifu…
I was attached to a great store w interesting characters…
I enjoyed e gd company of serene…
Actualli nothing much to complain bout except for maybe e low pay n e sianness when there was nothing to do n e ever looping songs from e same old CD… n of cos e stress from all e mini assignments our shifu gave…
Tat sounds like a lot of complaints alrdy.. hahaz.. =P

Along e way…
Loads of funny n unforgettable n sometimes weird incidents have happened…
Recalling them now brings a fond memory..
Hahaz… I sound like I’m toking bout something tat happened ages ago…
But realli.. I mean I wont miss e work there…

N I was to wander ard on my own until it was time to meet wj for dinner which was like 3hr later…
So I went over to dhobby ghaut to shop…
N there I spent more $$..
Bot a white top from m)phosis…not appropriate for work de.. casual wear onli… haha…
This series of clothes tat they got now got a lot tat I like! But aiz.. no $$.. so cant buy.. hahaz..
Finished my walk thru PS n finally I made my way to clark quay to wait for wj…
Unfortunately I was still early by bout 15 min…
So bo bian I took out my book n started reading…
Den suddenly this guy appeared out of no where standing beside me n started to talk to me… he looked like those office workers… ard late twenties or early thirties??
asked me if I was waiting for ppl… if I was reading a novel… *diaoz -_-* introduced himself… asked me if I was studying.. wat I was studying… den started toking bout his own frens… *diaoz^2* den he asked me to take down his no. n made me call him bac…
I stunned…
So being a stupid ah dai… I did wat I was told…
Actually when he tok to me I look away.. pretend super not interested… give 1 word ans… Sms wj to ask him to faster… (realized I shld have juz called him instead.. hahaz) but he juz keep toking… =S
N gd thing he finally walk away when his fren came… *relieved*
Den wj came n we had dinner at liang court…

Den we walked to funan cos he wanted to get his d200…

So we went to this shop where e boss was super chatty n frenly…
He even offered me a seat while they stood toking.. (maybe cos I look tired?) hahaz..
After some bargaining… he finally bot his brand new d200!!
N it was late.. so we made our way home… =)
On e way home…
Unexpectedly received a call frm jrm!!
Hahaz… did abit of catching up here n there before realizing he wanted help w his chinese script for his sis wedding…
So I got my sis to email him samples of e scripts cos my sis handled some MC jobs before… =) hope they were of help!!
Den something happened n fortunately it turned out to be nothing serious…
