I used the Mojo Monday Sketch this week to make a masculine birthday card for a friend. I love, love, love the colors in the CTMH "Lucky" paper packet! I thought the two complemented each other quite well. I did rotate it 90degrees to accomodate my patterned paper which had a bicycle the size of the card base. It was so cute. But once I covered it up with embellishments, it's not even visible!

ColourQ #94 and Inspiration Medley
The weekend is here at last! I raced home (even with an aggarvating head cold) to throw supper in the oven so I could "guilt-free" create in my scrap room.
This card has been in my head for a while now. My son recently added this SuperHero Tshirt to his "impressive" collection. (He did NOT need another SuperHero shirt!) and the blocks across the front stuck with me. I had seen other cards recently that did a color block or color strip with a matching button (same color as the paper). And, I have wanted to put them together using the below "You're Sweet" (B1351) stamp set from CTMH. I thought this week's Colour Q Challenge coincided perfectly!

Clean & Simple Stamping sketch 148
Good evening. Almost Hump Day! Yay!
I had fun this weekend with my little projects, but now I have to buckle down and get them posted. :) That's always the hard part for me. I want to participate in every challenge, but I'm sometimes lazy about the "submit" part! Claaaasic Mandy.
I loved this sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping when I saw it. Gina will say it's because of the circles! :) I knew it would be perfect for the cupcake stamp that had been on my mind for the day.
I am using an oldie but a goodie from my scrap stash, CTMH's "More to Adore" paper packet and the "Cupcake Sprinkles" stamp set.
Here is the sketch:

PDCC89 - Color Challenge
This week's challenge at The Play Date Cafe is a color challenge using Mint Green, Buttercream, and Taupe. I have been aiming to use my "Western Flourish" stamp set as a complement to flowers for ages but never tried it. These colors spoke to me for this set for some reason. The finished result isn't what I had initially pictured, but I really like it.
And my project using these colors ...

All items are Close To My Heart with the exception of the felt leaves. They are from a border ribbon, but I don't remember the brand.
This is one of my favorites lately. Hope you have had a great start to your week! TFL!

H2H - Photo Inspiration week
Happy Sunday (evening)! If you are like me, you are still up - clinging to the last threads of the weekend. Sunday nights are the hardest for me to turn in. I just don't want to let go of the weekend -- usually I hold out as long as I can. :)
So here I am blogging, after a wonderfully satisfyingly creative weekend. It was great! I spent a lot of quality time in my "Fortress of Solitude". I made three cards for challenges, a layout for a challenge (all to be posted sometime this week), and the final layout for my niece's album. It was great fun and I finally kicked myself out of the room this evening to catch up on laundry and give my neck/shoulders a break. (I could easily "undo" my Saturday morning chiropractor visit by spending hours at my desk!)
Enough about that --- this week at H2H a photo was provided for inspiration for any type of project. It could lead you to a color scheme, sketch idea, theme, etc. For me it was a little of all three. The colors and flowers made me think of the happy, light floral prints and pinks/greens in the Sophia kit. The three side-by-side photos spoke to me, as well, because I love for my projects to have an orderly symmetry when I create. (Not that they always do).
And here is my project....inspired by the happy, light photos above:
For the center of the cards, I stamped the small button image from the "Sophia" WOTG kit stamp set, then covered it in Glitter Gel. The flourishes are stamped with the same stamp set and a pink jewel is located in the center of the tiny flowers within the flourish. I also used the birdcage and bird from this same stamp set on the interior of the card. The stamped phrase "So Very Grateful" came from the "Miracle" WOTG kit stamp set. I used Hollyhock and Sweet Leaf ink pads and inked the edges of the card, both inside and out, with a texture tool and Baby Pink ink.

Color Q Challenge #92
Happy Hump Day! I'm excited because I was off from work Monday and Tuesday, so I have a short work week this week. I could get used to this! (I know - everyone feels that way.)
I started this L/O yesterday, happy to use up some supplies I've had lingering in my stash and it worked for the color cue. I have made a new resolution to deplete stash. I just HAVE to. :)
I am also working to finish up layouts for my Mom's vacation album (I started LAST YEAR!) sigh....I have way more ideas than I have time. "Mama said there'd be days like this...."
These cool colors are from this week's Color Q Challenge.
And, here is my layout using these colors for my parent's trip to Sedona, AZ a few years ago.
I don't usually include a list of supplies used because they are almost always Close To My Heart, but this one is such a blend, I should be more specific.
Colored cardstock (black, blue, and orange) and baker's twine: We R Memory Keepers
Patterned cardstock and large dotted epoxy brad: My Mind's Eye
Stamp, ink, photo clips, button brads, fabric brad & mid-sized epoxy brad, orange brad, and rub-ons: Close To My Heart

CFC #9 and FTL147 weekend challenges
Hello! Long time - no post! I've been remiss in my blogging duties. BUT --- not in my creative duties! I got to spent some quality time in my "Fortress of Solitude" on Saturday. I finished a layout from my Thursday night Hostess Club, made 2 cards for weekend challenges, and made another layout for my neice's baby album. I feel complete again! I go into withdrawals when I am away from my room for too long.
This week's CAS-ual Friday challenge is called "KRAFTS-men". Kraft cardstock projects made with a more masculine theme. I hope mine doesn't seem too girlie. But I also liked the sketch challenge hosted by Clean and Simple Stamping. As soon as I saw it, I thought of my new Jubilation stamp set from the CTMH June stamp-of-the-month. I wanted to try it out, instead of just purchasing it, then sitting it in a neat stack with all my other new & UNUSED stamp sets! (It's embarrasing - I'm not kidding.)
Since I had just been working with the CTMH Fanfare paper kit and it's so close to the 4th, my color scheme was a no-thinker.
TFL and have a fun and safe 4th of July holiday! Pin It
