Had the idea in my head, and just had to get these down. the three main characters of HBO's newest miniseries 'The Pacific". I'm quite happy with all of them actually, and I'll probably make a finished piece out of this by the end of the weekend.

an in class exercise from my drawing class. i think i pretty effectively got the sense of 3 dimensions. however, i didn't quite put enough into the rendering to really see the different materials. I'm not really that kind of artist though, sort of a big picture 'you get the idea" kind of artist.

finally got this done. quite happy with how it turned out. I was able to strike a balance between cartoony simplicity and realistic rendering that i really like.

Yes, i have been drawing

One more attempt at a self portrait in graphite. probably the best so far. however, i'm not too fond of how i handled the medium. It was hard to balance the visibility of strokes in the background and the more delicate shadows and details in the face. I would have preferred to use charcoal, but Oh well, subject to the requirements of the assignment i guess.
