Picnic in the Park

I spent the last week in Denver in an advance placement training conference. So I was learning about campaign-finance reform and viability thresholds, my children spent a couple days with grandma Tina. Just so we're all clear, grandma Tina is the coolest grandma in the entire world. She took them for a picnic lunch in the park. They even got McDonald's.
This is the picture I got mid-day while I was sitting there talking about Marbury versus Madison, US versus Lopez, and citizens United.  I would've rather been eating McDonald's in the park than talking about shifting demographic effects on the Republican party.

Thanks for the awesome day, grandma!

Cowgirl Up

Roo is a huge fan of horses.  That is to say, she loves the idea of riding a horse but the actual animal makes her a little nervous.  That's where Awesome Aunt Amy comes to save the day.
Awesome Aunt Amy lives near the Farm at Thanksgiving Point.  She worked her voodoo magic to get Roo unlimited rides on the horses!

E-Man and the Hulk rode, too.  Hulk-not a fan.  He kept saying, "I done."

Then, we played.  My favorite part is when the kids were locked in jail.

I have no idea how E-Man does this stuff.

I should also mention the goats. We love the goats and feeding them, too.

Blah Afternoon

What are you suppose to do on a Saturday afternoon when everyone is kind of blah?  If you are a Wixom, you buy ice.
That's right, baby!  Ice blocking at the park.
Ride 'em, Cowgirl!

Even the Hulk gave it a try.

After that, he spent most of his time on the big toy.

I went down a time or two, too!
Goodbye blah Saturday!

Bedroom Reboot

Hulk has been trapped in a half-way done room for the last 14 months.  It was Roo's room, so it was pink.  Then we switched 'em.  And it was still pink.  I kinda painted it last year, but ran out of steam half way through.  Don't be surprised.  I'm kind of lazy.

But I put it on my summer bucket list, which is like a challenge.  So this summer I had to get it done!
Here are the "BEFORE" pictures:

About five minutes into painting, I remembered.  I hate painting.  That is probably why I quit in the middle of the wall (shown above).

Hulk's room in done (mostly).  What 2 year-old doesn't want a Spider-Man room?  Huge Spider-Man Fathead on the wall.  Spider-Man stickers everywhere!

Spider-Man bed with super special Spider-Man blankie.

Night Swimming

We are lucky enough to live very close to an outdoor, municipal pool.  I remember going swimming with my family back in the day when the outdoor pool is where the YMCA parking lot is now.  Good times.  Night swimming is also on my Summer 2013 Bucket List (shown at right).
Not surprising, the Hulk is a beast in the water.  He would jump, getting some serious air, into the pool.  Unfortunately I couldn't take any pictures of him "dum-ing" in because he expected me to catch him.
Roo wanted a life jacket, and it set her free.  She jumped and perfected her CANNONBALL!

E-Man went sans life jacket, and he rocked.  Lots of splash, lots of laughs.

It's a Slug Fest!

E-Man is on a summer coach-pitch baseball team.  This kid can hit a ton!  In his three games thus far, he has made it to base every single time.  He usually nails it into the outfield.

He likes to play 1st base, pitcher, or 3rd base.
Catching the ball and getting the out at 3rd base.

I love watching baseball.  All that athletic grace and poise.

The Wixoms Went Camping

Every three years or so, Justin drags us up into the mountains so that we can appreciate "Nature."  Since we always camp at Heise, nature is a bit of a stretch.  Where else can you camp, hike, fish, eat delish pizza, play miniature golf, and use a flushie?
