A Quiet Night
I was a little disappointed that we had only 20 or 25 Trick or Treaters come to our door, but getting to stamp one last Halloween card took a bit of the blues away! I wanted to squeeze in one more of Leigh O'Brien's Freaky Friday cards, and was able to combine it with my friend Tammy's Color Throwdown.
I stamped the image on watercolor paper using Black Stazon, then colored in the background using Lovely Lilac. For the pumpkins I layered color on using an aquapainter, first with Marigold Morning, then Only Orange, Pumpkin Pie, and Ruby Red. I embossed the Trick or Treat sentiment in black EP, tied on some ribbon and added on a couple of little tags from my left overs pile. What I ended up with is not exactly what I had in mind, but I guess the journey is as important as the destination, right?! I had a good time!

Jail Birds!
Our Michael's just recently did a great overhaul of their stamps section, and I just couldn't resist grabbing these great jail birds! I thought they'd be the perfect image for one of Leigh O'Brien's Freaky Friday challenges. This week the challenge is to create a card using dark orange, purple, and olive with accents of black, white, or grey. You know, cards sometimes can take on a life of their own! Sometimes they're difficult, and other times they just seem to almost jump together all by themselves! THIS was a really FUN card to make. I used SC196 again because it is a great sketch to show off designer papers with a long narrow horizontal image. I am very pleased with how this card turned out. Can you tell that I just LOVE to watercolor?!
Notes:
Stamps: Inkadinkado
Paper: SU! Old Olive, Whisper White, Really Rust, unknown purple, WalMart patterned paper slab, watercolor paper
Inks: Black Stazon, SU! Basic Gray
Accessories: Markers, aquapainter, sponges, ribbon, Queen and Company brads/photo turn
I need several cards for this week, and although I have a stash I could pull from, sometimes it is just nicer to make a card for a particular person on a special occasion, so it is back to the stamp room for me! Hope you're having a great weekend! Come back soon!

Whispering a prayer
Before I show you the cards I made for today, I'd like to ask you to whisper a prayer for my friend, Vicky Gould. Vicky's husband was hospitalized last night to prepare for some minor cardiac surgery, when he had pacemaker trouble and suddenly, unexpectedly passed away. Please pray for her, for that peace which surpasses all understanding, and for strength for the days to come. I suspect that right now she is just numb, but as the reality begins to sink in, she will need our prayers and support. I believe that prayers really do make a huge difference. Isn't it great that even though we have never met in person, our SCS family pulls together to bring comfort when someone needs it.
The challenge today was to use plaid designer paper. I have had this green plaid paper for at least two years...I was saving it for a scrapbook page, but decided it was time to cut into it. I used yesterday's sketch with this cute Fluffles, and found the perfect prima to go with it (thanks to Faith!).

Stamps: Fluffles
Paper: SU! Whisper White, Summer Sun, Close to Cocoa; greens of unknown origin, DP of unknown origin
Inks: Black Stazon
Accessories: Markers, prima, button, paper piercer, coluzzle, Cuttlebug, hemp
I tried to squeeze in another card before heading out to choir practice (my son and I are in a musical, and the first performance is 10 days away), but should have known better because usually stamping in a rush just doesn't work for me. I decided that I would just post it anyway...so this is for Leah's 2nd Freaky Friday challenge, to use a Halloween stamp to make a non-Halloween card. More plaid paper too, along with lots of glitter and stickles.
Notes:
Stamps: Inkadinkadoo All Hallow's Eve
Paper: SU! Whisper White, Plaid dp from Michael's, unknown purple
Inks: Craft White, Craft Elegant Eggplant
Accessories: Martha Steward glitter, Stickles, Fibers, Primas and jewels, SU! circle punches, computer-generated sentiment
Thanks for coming to taking a look!
