Bugaboo Challenge Weekend

Have you seen the fun, monthly Bugaboo Challenges?!  I have been wanting to play along with Bugaboo's challenges for a couple of weeks lately, as it has been a while since I have used my Bugaboo images.  This month's Bingo Challenge is the following:

Well, I pulled out this cute little turtle guy last week and colored him with my Copics and finally got him on a CAS card today.  I used the top line on the bingo card. Squares on the card (rectangles are squares right?); three layers are under the image itself, and I used both yellow and hot pink, which I think looks great with that green on the turtle :)  What do you think?!

Image:  Turtle Flowerpot
Papers:  Pale Yellow Bazzill cs, SU hot pink (rose red) cs and Neenah white cs.
Tools/Supplies:  Spellbinders rectangles and scalloped rectangles, Copics and pink rhinestones.

Cards, Good News and Owls

Hello there, readers and friends!!

This week has been a busy one at the Little household.  I had a few appointments the last few days, close friends have lost family members and another close friend went in for surgery.  I had a couple of cards already made up, but will be needing a few more sympathy cards, so here are two I completed last night.  They were fairly simple.  I used Stampin Up stamps (older ones - Carte Postal, French Script and the music notes wheel) and a digital image "Beautiful Blocks - Faith" from Bugaboo Digi Stamps.

Some Good News ...

I recently noticed in the past couple of months that some of my friends on the west coast were hosting parties for Origami Owl.  I didn't know at first what that was, and then I checked out Lorie Ames and Kristine Breach's sites.  I thought the Living Lockets were absolutely beautiful and had to show them to my husband before Valentine's Day.  He agreed to get me one, and that's when it all started.  :)

Here's my locket ... (not the best lighting though)

I took a little time to look  over the materials Lorie sent me, and as of last night I became an "owlette."  What does that mean?  I am an independent designer now for Origami Owl.  I am looking forward to a couple of Jewelry Bars with friends as soon as it warms up a bit here in Pennsylvania.  Please take a look at my page if you are interested in seeing more and for those near me, I would love to host a Jewelry Bar in your home too!

Bugaboo Angels for SBC #60

I have been wanting to create something on canvas for a while now thanks to my good friend, Deb, who has been inspiring me with her lovely canvas creations.  Well, mine isn't even in the same category as her masterpieces, but ... I loved getting artsy anyway :)  I want to try it again with a rubber stamp next time so that I can keep it more flat.  This was pretty cool with all of the dimensions though, and will fit nicely into my room in a pretty white frame.  It is definitely something I thought would make a nice addition to my craft room.  I just love angels and Bible verses and anything to encourage myself and others, so this sweet image by Bugaboo Stamps called Angels - Believe was perfect! :)

I have used Carly's sketch #60 this week, but I changed it a little bit.  I didn't want to take too much away from the cloud and sky background, so my diamond in the middle is a bit smaller, and although squares were around the side, I thought a touch of something frilly would be nice, so I turned mine into triangular pieces (hope you don't mind, Carly).

Now then, here's the original sketch and link below where you too can play along with the SBC design team!!  Please join us! :)  We would love to see what you create with Carly's sketch ...

You have 2 full weeks to play along, and link up at Sketches by Carly for a chance to win ...

Sketch #55 by Carly for Mom

Would you like to ...
  ?

Well, at Sketches by Carly, you could win the chance to do just that! :)  Our sponsor during challenge #55 is Bugaboo Stamps, and they are giving away 7 free digis to one lucky winner of our Sketch Challenge!!  Yaaaay!  Stop by and play along for a chance to win!!

Here's the sketch that Carly created for us ...

(Psst, if it looks slightly familiar, I am a goof -- I accidentally used it earlier this month on another card I created thinking it was that week's sketch).  Also, note that all of Carly's sketches are held for a 2-week period, but it started last week, so don't miss out.
You still have a week to play along, so we hope to see you there!

I started out with Carly's sketch in mind, but I wanted to use an oval shape for the image since it is long.  Then I decided to place it on a round doily to keep the circle shape idea flowing.   Also, I turned the scalloped strip so that you could see the hearts on the outside and actually got out my sewing machine for the rectangular pieces.  (Okay, does anybody else have trouble with sewing machines, besides me?)
Half way through my card, the sewing machine stops cooperating (bobbin thread will not thread through machine - arggh).  So, although I wanted to sew all of my square and rectangular layers onto the card, I didn't get a chance to finish that.

Here is the closeup of my card that I have created for my mom for Mother's Day
(shh, hopefully she hasn't stopped by my blog today).

I used the digi called "Words from An Angel - Mother."  The saying on the front of the angel says ... A mother holds her children's hands for just a little while but holds their hearts forever.
I read that and thought to myself "oh, how true!"  :)  This one definitely spoke to me this year since my 19-year-old has moved out of the house within the past month, and my mother is about 100 miles away.

And I even decorated the inside  a little bit too ...

Card details:

  • SU blush blossom cs
  • Red scraps (some SU, some Bazzil, biggest one unknown)
  • SU dp - Bella Rose
  • BasicGrey - faded blue piece for edged heart strip and tiny punched hearts (hate to throw those away)
  • Mint Green seambinding
  • Paper Doily

Stamps/Images/Tools:
  • Spellbinders circles, ovals and scalloped circles
  • Copic markers for some shading, but most of the coloring is from Adobe PSE
  • SU Well Scripted stamp set
  • Words from An Angel - Mother (digi as mentioned above from Bugaboo Stamps)

Thanks for stopping by! :)
