Peanut Butter and Jelly

A new month has arrived and that means a new challenge from the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog.  This month's challenge is "Love Is . . .".  So, create any project that has a love theme.

Here is the card I created:

It's time to get started on those Valentine's Day cards!  Last month I posted a set of 10 cards that I had made using a one sheet wonder template.  This month I am going to use the same template (different patterned paper) to create a bunch of my Valentine's Day cards, but I've only got this one finished so far.
I decided to use these super cute jars of peanut butter and and jelly (strawberry of course!) from Sugar Pea Designs.  I stamped the jelly jar on the card base with red ink for a tone-on-tone background. Stamped my sentiments and stamped, colored and fussy cut the images which were adhered with foam dots.  I die cut two different hearts and added them with foam tape before coating them with Glossy Accents for some shine (thanks to Jennifer McQuire for that tip).
I decided to mat my patterned paper with a light gray cardstock as white seemed just a little too stark against the red shades I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Head on over to the LTSCB blog to see what the rest of the team has created and to get the full details of the challenge.  Then get inky and play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.

Deepest Sympathy

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week it is a fan favorite: Anything Goes!! And here is the card I created for your inspiration:

This is the second sympathy card I have needed within a week and I don't like that!  But, I do like how this card turned out.  The colors are so soft and the CAS layout feels really elegant to me.  Other than the coloring it was really quite quick and easy to create (thanks to it being so CAS).  I added a bit of sheer light blue ribbon and some clear droplets to bling it up just a little.  I also stamped a sympathy sentiment on the inside:

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

Love You

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Tic Tac Toe

And here is my card for your inspiration:

Oh, my goodness, I LOVE this adorable little bear!!  I was just given it by Di herself (I did get to pick it out) and had to use it right away!  So sweet!!  So, for my tic-tac-toe challenge (which I love, by the way!  It's pretty much up to you to decide what the challenge is.) I ran the entire board.  I used the color blue, a handcolored image, stickles (on my flower petals), 1 circle, a digi image, dies, a fun fold (inspired by Jennifer McGuire to create this fun z-fold), pearls and a sentiment!  In the photo below you can see how my fold opens up:
With the fold, it won't stay flat, so I created a little "belly" band out of the heart border along the bottom.  The little bear in the sitting position inspired to me to have a little fun.  I used the "out of the box technique" to make it look as if she is sitting on the edge of the die cut.  I added silver stickles to the edges of the flower petals and finished off the whole card with some small heart pearls.

I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.

Coffee Blessings

I missed some birthdays in my church back in November and December--life gets a little crazy during those months, doesn't it?!  Anyway, I made this card for a gentleman from the church.  It won't exactly be a birthday card since it is so late, but I might add a belated birthday sentiment on the inside; haven't decided, yet.

Both he and his wife are avid coffee drinkers, so I thought a coffee themed card was a fun touch.

Supplies:
Stamps: Verve "Jeremiah 17:7 Plain Jane"
Dies: CAS-ual Fridays coffee cup; Kat Scrappiness "Crafters Essentials 1" stitched, rounded rectangle

Blessed is he

I was in need of a masculine birthday card for a man at our church.  So, I pulled out this beautiful sentiment stamp and some cool, masculine patterned paper, added a bit of chocolate brown ribbon and some copper brads.  All the panels were matted on kraft card stock and everything was adhered to a kraft card base.

I've been seeing this fun idea round about on a bunch of blogs: Just Stash January (where you go the whole month of January without buying ANY new supplies--use what you have!) and decided to play along.  We all have so many unused goodies languishing away in our craft rooms.  Let's pull them out and show them some love.  The patterned paper has been in my stash for 2-3 years and I've had this sentiment much longer.  The ribbon and brads I have also had for several years.  Nothing new to see here!

Salvage card

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week it is a fan favorite: Anything Goes!! And here is the card I created for your inspiration:
This is actually a card rescue.  I had a card that I had made years ago (maybe even within the first year or two of my card making journey) sitting around as it never got sent.  Here is what it looked like:
It was super CAS, and not really in a good way.  The card base was a very flimsy textured paper; definitely NOT good for a base!!  A little pink ink sponged around the edges.  The focal element was made with templates from Hot Off The Press.  Anyone else remember them?  I did edge all of the pieces with a gold paint pen, so at least it had some sparkle.  But there was no way I was ever going to send it like this!  But after a little magic, it now looks like this:

I started with a new kraft card stock base (much more sturdy) and die cut the filigree panel out of the original card front.  The texture and light pink inking give it even more interest.  I kept the focal element intact, turned it 90 degrees to fit the card.  I also added a fancy brad embellishment that I have had forever!  I stamped the sentiment and added a bit of twill ribbon from my stash to finish everything off.  Now, it's something I don't mind sending out!  And I was able to save and reuse most of the original.  Win, win!

Cupcake Shaker

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week it is a fan favorite: Anything Goes!! And here is the card I created for your inspiration:

I created this fun shaker card for a teen at our church who is celebrating her 17th birthday this week.  The happy birthday paper has been sitting on my desk (you may remember it from the past two weeks), so I decided to use it again.  I also used a coordinating paper for the cupcake liners.  I just love paper piecing these liners; it's a great way to add interest.  I added a mix of pink , green and teal sequins inside the shaker and glued some of the pink mix to the surface of the card, so there is some interest even while it's not shaking.
I decided to go with the slimline style because I had an envelope this size that just needed to be used!  Plus, the length gives way more room for yummy cupcakes!  For the sentiment, I did a little creative masking to use the "happy" and "birthday" from the belated birthday sentiment "I always remember . . ."  I've been seeing this fun idea round about on a bunch of blogs: Just Stash January (where you go the whole month of January without buying ANY new supplies--use what you have!) and decided to play along.  We all have so many unused goodies languishing away in our craft rooms.  Let's pull them out and show them some love.  Everything I used today is more than a couple years old, except the slimline die--I've only had that for a couple months.  I have a confession: I did purchase a die set already this month, but it was before I found out about the challenge and I had a gift certificate, so I only spent a little on it.  I will also wait until January is over to use it so I don't mess up the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

Happy Thoughts

It's Saturday!!  That means it's time for another challenge from Di's Digi Designs.
The challenge this time is: Show Some Snow
And here is my card for your inspiration:

I just got this image from Di and it is THE cutest!!  Obviously, it will be perfect for Christmas, but I am using it for a winter birthday card.  Since two of the characters are white (do you think the guy in the background is another snowman or is he a polar bear?  I thought bear at first, but then one of my kids mentioned the two snowman, so now, I don't know.) there isn't a ton of coloring to do, so it is perfect if you want something adorable but don't have a lot of time to color it up.  For my snow--I have a snowman (or maybe two), a big felt snowflake, and I added snowflakes falling with some glue and ultra fine glitter.  You can see it better in the photo below.

I pulled out two really, really old papers from an old Christmas pack that had a snow theme without being too Christmasy.  The felt snowflakes I have also had forever; I totally forgot about them until a couple weeks ago when I found them while looking for something else.

I hope you will get a chance to play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.  And make sure you hop over to the Di's Digital Designs blog to see what the rest of the team has made for this challenge.

Last Two

On January 1, I posted a collection of One-Sheet-Wonder cards--cards that use up an entire 12 x12 sheet of patterned paper.

At the time of the posting, I only had 10 of the cards finished; I just finished up the other two yesterday.  Here they are:

All of them were Christmas cards except this first one.  I needed a birthday card, and the winter theme fit perfectly.  Specially since blue is the recipient's favorite color.  The second one is more pink; I love how you can pull either hue out of this patterned paper!

Happy, Happy Birthday

Happy Wednesday!!  It's time for another challenge from The House That Stamps Built and this week it is a fan favorite: Anything Goes!! Yes, you read that correctly!  We are making it a little easier for our fearless leader, Wendy, this month and the challenges will be Anything Goes all month long!!  And here is the card I created for your inspiration:

You may be thinking you are experiencing dejavu!  I still had these papers on my desk from the card last week, so I figured I would make another birthday card using a lot of the same supplies.  Here's the card I made last week:

But, back to today's card, I stamped, colored and fussy cut some flowers and leaves from my favorite Flower Power Separates collection to use as the focal point.  A die cut banner, a punched border and a stamped sentiment finished everything off rather quickly.  I added a bunch of rhinestones in various sizes to make it all pretty!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will hop over to the House blog to see the rest of the DT's creations and then get inky and play along with us.  And if you need any of the stamps I used, check out my 10% off your ENTIRE order coupon code over in my left sidebar.

One Sheet Wonder

Happy 2021!!  May it be a better year than 2020!  A new month has arrived and that means a new challenge from the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog.  This month's challenge is Anything Goes.

And here are the cards I created:

I have lots (and lots and lots) of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper that I never use.  Anyone else want to join the club and admit this as well??  Confession is good for the soul, you know.  For several years, I have been a fan of "one-sheet wonder" cards where you take an entire sheet of paper ( can be any size, though usually 6 x 6 or 12 x 12), cut it using a template and create cards using every tiny bit of that sheet of paper.  So, I finally decided to pull out a sheet of Christmas paper and have a go at it using this template I found on Pinterest.  I cut enough pieces for 12 cards, but only have 10 finished at this moment.
I picked a pretty (and nontraditional) Christmas print and then picked out two colors of cardstock to match.  I matted almost all of the patterned paper on cardstock and then matched it with the contrasting base so the papers will stand out a little.
I stamped enough of these adorable penguins and accessories for each of the cards.  Coloring and fussy cutting them all probably was the most time consuming part of making all of these cards.  I chose some fun sketches that used elements that patterned paper panels would work with and then added embellishments.  Most of the embellishments carry on through most of the cards.  No added patterned paper was used.  This is a really long post with a lot of pictures, but you really have to see each card up close to see how adorable they are.

Card #1 uses some punched snowflakes that my mom got in a big box of scrapbooking stuff at a yard sale several years ago.  There were so many, it will take a long time to use them up!  I also added some pink dotted ribbon and some blue rhinestones.
Card #2 uses a snowflake embossing folder and no added embellishments.
Card #3 uses one of those punched snowflakes, the dotted ribbon, and rhinestone, the same snowflake embossing folder and a small vellum die cut circle.
Card #4 uses the dotted ribbon, some clear rhinestones and both pre-cut felt snowflakes and die cut paper snowflakes.
Card #5 uses one of the felt snowflakes and a bunch of light pink pearls to accent the die cute "wreath".
Card #6 Uses one of the felt snowflakes and some pink rhinestones.
Card #7 uses the dotted ribbon some blue rhinestones and a die cut snowflake.  (This might be one of my favorite cards from the set!)
Card #8 uses some of the blue rhinestones and some glitter paper to create the "snowbanks" to go along with the cute little penguin making a snow angel.
You can see the sparkle in the photo below:
Card #9 uses some of the dotted ribbon, blue rhinestones and a die cut "Merry Christmas" sentiment (I drew on a string to hang the ornament from the "y".) to which I added clear wink of Stella to make it all sparkly!
You can see all the sparkly goodness below:
Card #10 doesn't use any embellishments other than the sentiment strips.
These were really fun and I love that I was able to use an entire piece of paper--no waste!  Unfortunately . . . . they ONLY used one sheet of paper . . . I have soooooo much!!  I anticipate many of these sets in my future; I already have in mind to create a set of feminine birthday cards and then a set of masculine as well.  And probably some more Christmas sets as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Head on over to the LTSCB blog to see what the rest of the team has created and to get the full details of the challenge.  Then get inky and play along with us; I can't wait to see what you create.
