The Litany of Fury
Back once again from the prison known to me as National Service, and thank God for this long weekend! A brief respite for a day to recover my strength both mentally and physically.
Let's see what have i done for the past week? Oh yeah, had Excercise Patella - a MRF event where we basically run around in MOPP4 and rifle, blasting at sergeants role-playing as the aggressor. The whole objective was to locate one casualty and to evacuate him to safety. The highlight of the whole excercise was the clearing of obstacles like the window, stairs and the low wall, albeit with casualty. I was the one carrying the casualty, and i'd alomost died... What made it worse was the fact that the casualty was one of my sergeants! I had to take extra care so as not to injure him, especially during the descending of the stairs.
And there was the now infamous tale of my snake slaying while awaiting the start of Ex Patella. We were just resting on the grass patch near the 21 Div buildings, me and my firing team, when i noticed something moving among the grasses, heading towards one of my team mate. After a closer look, to my horror it was a snake, a rather small one though, but snake nonetheless. So my natural reaction was to push my friend away, and with one quick blow of my rifle butt, i rifle-butted the snake in it's head, nearly severing it from it's body. Lots of people in my platoon's been saying "Hey man, that's so cruel! Killing a defenceless snake!". Well, to that i can only smile and answer, "It was all INSTINCT." Yes, it was in my very instinct to end it's life, what more can i say? I do not need to defend myself, it was only a snake! My goodness.
With so much said and done, i'm getting really tired. Not enough sleep. And perhaps, in due time, there's something more interesting to post online...
