I laughed when I came across two cookie pictures on my phone
(they can be seen farther down in my post).
I took them a few months ago when I decided to be a "good little wife" and make homemade cookies for the families Shay home taught.

I took them a few months ago when I decided to be a "good little wife" and make homemade cookies for the families Shay home taught.
It started off like any old cookie making afternoon goes.
I started off with my dry ingredients........only to discover that I was short something (can't remember what it was, it was too long ago) and had to ask Shay to walk over to our wonderful neighbor's to borrow some. Shay of course was not too excited about this endeavor (you would have thought I asked him to stick bamboo shoots up under his fingernails).Luckily, he returned with the missing ingredient and happy that he had the opportunity to chat with his friend. Life was great again!
I then was able to finish mixing up the cookie dough.
"Done," I thought, "Now all I have to do is get these suckers on the cookie sheet and into the oven before Shay needs to leave."
Well, of course I had to get a "small" spoonful of dough and taste it to "make sure it was perfect."
(wish I looked like her!)
(wish I looked like her!)
I was so glad I did!
It tasted like pure salt?!?!?!
What!?!@?!?
What!?!@?!?
I make these cookies all the time and they are YUMMY!
What went wrong?
What went wrong?
Well, after a closer look I discovered that I had pulled out the TABLESPOON instead of the TEASPOON when I measured out a few of the dry ingredients. Not a good thing to do when trying to make a sweet tasting something!
After much thought I decided there was no reason why I should throw the dough out when I could easily triple the ingredients to make up for the mistake. So off I went tripling the dough only to get half way through and realize I actually needed to sixth the recipe......so of course that didn't stop me and the following is what I had when I was finished.
(The pictures above and below are the actual pictures of my cookie dough.)
Notice the few batches in the background already cooked and cooling. The above picture was taken after a FEW batches had gone in AND had came out!
My arms actually hurt after trying to stir the dough. I thought I would break the spoon.....I had long given up on my mixer because the dough was too much to fit in the actual mixing bowl.
Unfortunately while I was trying to correct my pathetic mistake Shay had to leave to home teach and none of the families were able to enjoy these yummy cookies.
Let's just say it took taking the dough to Shay's folks home and making numerous batches for the family and grand kids, having to cook cookies for days in a row and eating enough cookies to not want to see another chocolate chip cookie EVER again.....
to finally get rid of all of that dough!!!
.....can you blame me???
