Gorgeous weather

Spring like temperatures have hit NC and we have been enjoying playing outside! Minus a little injury at the park the other day with Ethan who fell 5 feet off the playground and landed on his face, we have had fun out in all the sunshine! (You can see boo boo remnants left on his face in the picture to the right... poor baby)
Today we went to Jordan Lake with my parents for a little picnic lunch and fun. We played soccer, walked on a trail, played on a playground, and had some yummy hot dogs on the grill. The boys love being outside and it feels so great!

The boys had their yearly check ups this past Thursday. Matt was sick with a horrible stomach bug, so I had to take the boys on my own. Ethan had to get 1 shot and Caleb had to have 3. There were lots of tears shed by both. All in all though it was a great trip! Here are a few stats.

Ethan- 42 pounds and 42 inches tall. He is in 85% for both of those categories.

Caleb- 26 pounds and 30 inches tall. I believe the nurse measured his height wrong because he was not laying down straight. But regardless, according to those measurements he is 85% for weight and 50% for height.
Anyhow, we are doing great! Can't wait for all of our trips this summer. In June we are flying to Colorado with my family for a week vacation! In July we are heading to the beach with Matt's family for a week as well as Camp Willow Run! We can't wait!

Birthday boys

We celebrated Ethan and Caleb's birthday on Saturday with a family birthday party! I can hardly believe that I have a 1 year old and a 4 year old! Caleb loved his cake! My dad did a great job making Ethan's Thomas cake. The cake tasted so good! Both boys got a lot of great gifts and overall it was a great day! Below are some pictures from the day.

Dollar Tree Finds

I have written before about my love for the Dollar Tree! There are so many awesome finds. So below are my top 17 finds in no particular order.

1. Razors for shaving- I buy mine there, they come in a 3 pack and have 4 blades on them. They are awesome and so much cheaper! They are the Gillette wanna be's.

2. Greeting cards- two cards for $1.00, can't beat that!

3. Candy- name brand candy for $1.00 or cheaper!

4. Superglue

5. Sharpies

6. Paper goods, they are getting a huge selection of party paper goods. We just bought some monster truck themed paper goods for Ethan's birthday party.

7. Ping pong balls. Hey, if you are in the market, they have 9 packs for $1.00! We just bought some to do our version of Minute to Win It games.

8. Valentines and other holiday treats.

9. Magic Eraser, yes it is a generic, but it works great!

10. Puzzles/academic workbooks for kids

11. Posters- these are great if you are teacher. I found some awesome ones that had maps of the U.S. and other fun posters.

12. Car deodorizers- I can't think of the technical word. But you know those things you hang in your car to make them smell good. You can find some good scents in a 3 pack.

13. Light bulbs

14. Toothbrushes- some are in a 5 pack!

15. Batteries

16. Birthday and other occasion balloons! Great deal for those nice helium balloons!

17. Giftbags, this is where I buy all my Christmas giftbags. They are Hallmark quality for a fraction of the price!

And much much more! Seriously. Hit up your local Dollar Tree and take a look. I promise you won't be let down.

Easy Recipe: Icecream pies

I wanted to give you an easy dessert "recipe". My sister-in-law, Courtney introduced me to ice cream pies and tonight was the first time I made them for an event.
All you do is buy the pre-made pie crust. Buy your favorite ice cream. Let the ice cream soften and then dump and spread into pie crust and refreeze. Then take out, cut, and serve. It is super easy and super yummy! You can even get a bit more fancier and take chocolate and/or caramel syrup and drizzle it over your slice of ice cream pie.
Tonight I made 2 different ice cream pies: Reese's peanut butter cup, and coffee fudge brownie...both of them Breyers ice cream that was on sale buy one get one free! Yum! I used a chocolate crust for the coffee ice cream and a regular graham cracker crust for the Reese's.
Enjoy!

Happy 1st Birthday Caleb

Just when I thought I couldn't love a person any more, God blessed me with this little guy! I thank God for being able to be a mommy. I can not believe he is 1 year old already. Can someone tell time to slow down?

Happy February

February is a big month in our household. Caleb will turn 1 year old on the fourth and Ethan will turn 4 years old on the sixteenth! I can hardly believe it! Here are a few things about my boys...

Caleb- started drinking whole milk about 2 weeks ago. He absolutely loves it! He will pretty much eat anything you put in front of him, but I have noticed that he does not have a liking for salty things. The boy can put down some food. He is a big eater! Caleb is standing a lot, but isn't really caring to take steps to walk. He has said "dada" and "bye bye" so far on purpose. He has also said "mama", but I have yet to hear it done like he was talking to me. Caleb is such a snuggle bug and loves playing cars with his big brother. Rarely does he actually play with the toys that are his. Caleb is one of those babies that fusses when he wants something or is mad when he doesn't get something. I am seeing more of his personality come out and it is fun to see how he is similar and yet so different from Ethan. We also turned his car seat forward facing about a week ago. It is amazing how much easier it is to put them in their seats!

Ethan- is the bottomless pit lately. He will have just eaten a huge lunch or dinner and then ask for more food. I can not fill him up. These boys are going to eat me out of house and home, especially when they hit the teenage years. We just signed Ethan up for soccer yesterday. We are so excited for him to play an organized sport on a team. He is also very excited! Ethan still loves race cars and monster trucks. His current favorite movie is Robin Hood, which is fun because that was my favorite movie as a child. Ethan adores his baby brother and is still covering him in kisses and hugs all the time! I absolutely love their relationship and pray that it continues to grow throughout the years!

I adore my boys and wouldn't have it any other way! I do hope we can add some pink into our life sometime in the next few years. But that is all up to the Big Man!

Stay tuned for birthday pictures!
