My "Mom"fession

This week I momfess that on most week days I turn on the TV in the afternoon for about an hour and let Ethan watch it so I can go take a nap while Caleb naps!

My justification: he watches PBSkids and they are all educational shows. For example, Ethan just told Matt at lunch today that a dozen means twelve and Matt was impressed that E knew that and asked where he learned it. Ethan replied, "Sesame Street"! So yes. He learned it because of my love for naps!

Prayers of a child

I snapped this picture of Ethan a few weeks ago when he was sick and fell asleep on the couch. It looks like he fell asleep praying. I love it.
We pray often together before meals as a family. We have asked Ethan to start actually praying specifically instead of singing a prayer he knows from school. I love to hear what comes out of his mouth. My favorite is when he remembers to pray for Grace, our sponsored child with Compassion International. We can all learn from child like faith and prayers. Keep it simple, the Lord knows your heart. There is no need to draw it out or fill it with fluff.

"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Matthew 21:22

I'm still here

Today I have the desire to post a blog. My husband posted on Facebook a plea to keep my blog going and several people have commented on it. So between that and the comments I have received on here. I am still here.
I think a huge part of blogging is getting a response. Even though you are writing and sending it out into no man's land, it feels nice to get a response back. Receiving comments and Facebook messages that have encouraged me to keep my blog going, has peaked my interest again. The biggest struggle for me is to get over writer's block. I love posting pictures of my adorably cute boys (just a little biased) and writing stories about them, but I guess I figured I wanted my "readers" to get more than that... and that is where I have stumbled. I am trying to figure out what that "more" is.
The truth of it is, I am a mom. That consumes, in a joyful way, most of my time. I work part time 4 mornings a week, and I try to be help mate for my wonderful hubby. We serve at a local church and love it and are a part of a bible study group. That is my life in a nutshell. So trying to blog about something.... more.... for a lack of better word is difficult. So the vomit stories, the age updates and pictures are pretty much it right now. So if you want all that, here I am. If you don't... well send me some ideas to blog about and i'll see what I can do!

This entry is to say, i'm still here. I have a little more desire to blog. Thank you for your comments and making me feel wanted in the blog world. (sniffs and flicks a tear away) HA!

p.s. Speaking of Facebook, my husband and I watched the movie "Social Network" last night and we really liked it! It is the story of the creators of Facebook. If you end up watching it, let me know how you liked it.

Stay tuned

Ok. Some of you MAY have convinced me to give blogging another go. Maybe. I will at least post Caleb's first year pictures and stats like I was asked by several people. So stay tuned.

Goodbye Blogosphere

Well this is it. Goodbye. I have had a great few years in the blog world, but I think it is time to make my exit! The one big reason I had wanted to keep it up is because it serves as my boys baby book! I document everything on here. (Or used to) But I don't get the comments I want. The readers I want. I don't know how to do photo shop or have creative bones to keep the blog looking attractive. I can't do give aways like I want or really... I just don't have much to write about. I have had writers block for a long time. So all that to say. I have loved it, but it is one thing I need to give up! I appreciate and love those of you who have commented. I appreciate and love those of you who are my silent readers. Such as my dad. Silent on here, but I would get an e-mail when he thought I needed to update ;) So goodbye, farewell! After a few days I am going to make this private so access will be denied.

p.s. I just told my husband that this was it and he was actually pretty sad. A lot has happened in the few years I have blogged. Including having my 2 babies! If I decide to start one back up again, I will for sure let you know!

11 months old

Caleb is almost a year old, but this month he has had a lot of new firsts.

*He is really cruising along furniture and every now and then will dare to let go and stand on his own.

*He has 2 new teeth that have popped through, bringing the total to 4 and more are on the way.

*He weighs 26.10 pounds. We recently were at the doctor due to sickness and he had to get on the scale.

*He said the word "dada" on purpose. Matt and I were playing and talking with him and I said, "go get dada" and he looked at me, looked at Matt and started crawling toward Matt and said, "dada"! He has said it before, but this is the first time we KNOW he was talking about his dada.

Caleb loves wrestling and being rough. He is going to be a physical child. He grinds his teeth on purpose and makes the most awful noise. Last night at dinner he looked at me, made this face like 'I know you aren't going to like this' and ground his teeth together! Little turkey is doing it for fun! He knows the word "no!" but refuses to listen. He is stubborn just like his mama. He will look at me, go to touch something, I will give him that look, and he will do it anyway! But as much as he is stubborn, he is very tender hearted. He is a snuggler and will cry when he gets in trouble or is very concerned when Ethan gets in trouble. He will crawl over to where we are disciplining Ethan as if trying to rescue him from his position.

Caleb has the bluest eyes and the BEST skin. I seriously have so many people that comment on his skin. It is clear and yellowish complexion. He looks like he has a natural tan. It will be interesting to see how dark he gets this summer. Several people have commented on his hair too. He has the best hair color according to my friend, Amanda! And that is a compliment coming from her because she knows the current ins and outs when it comes to fashion and hair. I think he is beautiful, but it is nice to hear my opinion being validated by others! I think i'll keep him. ;)

Carolina Hurricanes

Matt and I had the privilege of going to the Carolina Hurricanes hockey game for free last night! We had a great night, despite the loss in over time. We also were one of the first 10,000 people in the arena so we are now the proud owner of a Hurricanes bobble head hockey toy! Ha! Along with the free tickets and bobble head we go to park for free! You see, a couple of years ago, you could park over near the NC State football stadium on a gravel lot for free. We tried to drive to the free spots and got funnelled to the parking lot close to the arena. We pulled up to the man collecting $10 per car to park and told him we had a problem, that we had no cash. He just let us go in and park for free! We did offer him $2.00 that we found but he waved us on anyway.

I love my man and we had a blast together! We are always blessed with amazing parents that are willing and able to watch our boys. If I could have a date with him every night, I would! So thank you mom for watching our boys and we are so thankful that we had many blessings during our time together!

Welcome 2011

Happy New Year! Here is the only picture that is in my new "2011" folder in my pictures on my computer. (Wow, that was a mouthful.) We rung in the new year with some good friends. Enjoyed playing a game that Matt and I hope to get one day called Wits and Wagers. Which is a game of "brainless trivia with shameless fun". We know we are getting old because we are feeling the effects of staying up late tonight. We both are so tired. Can't keep up with the youngin's anymore! So Happy New Year from our family to yours!
