Victory!

I had to type this real fast because i'm so happy. Ethan is still sleeping and I went in to check on him and he's sleeping on his stomach. Which means, he must have turned over in the night and didn't wake up crying! YAY! That only took a few days. Hopefully he's used to it now. He's sleeping in past what he normally does, so I had Matt go in and make sure he was breathing, ha ha. With all the fuss about SIDS and babies sleeping on their stomachs, new "worries" arise. I'm actually not that worried about it but with each new stage that comes, I know new concerns will arise. But YAY for not waking up crying at 5:30a.m. because he rolled over!

Latest antics and pic's

Well Ethan woke up at 5:30 this morning crying on his stomach again. Boy I hope he gets used to it soon! I put his paci in and he went back to sleep for another hour, then he woke up crying again so I put it in again... then when he got up a little after 7:00 I noticed there was pee all over the front of him! He had leaked in his diaper because he was sleeping on his stomach. No wonder! I bought some new diapers today, Pampers Cruisers. Hopefully they'll work better since he is "crawling" and sleeping on his stomach now. He is also trying to learn to drink out of a sippy cup! He loves it but has to suck real hard to get the juice out. Whenever you take out the valve though it is way too much juice and he chokes. So I need to invent an easier transition sippy cup.
One last thing before I go... I went to Target today and EVERYTHING was on sale. This goes back to a previous post. I ended up buying a ton but saved a lot of money. His baby food was on sale, so that is what I majorly stocked up on. It was fun to get out. I also met my mom for lunch at panera and picked up a starbucks on the way home. I can justify the starbucks because i'm running more lately. I hate it, but at least I can lose some weight and eat all the stuff i'm not supposed to! ha ha. Going to get my haircut sometime soon... I want to chop it all off, but not sure if I have the guts. Plus my husband likes it long. Anyhow, enough randomness... now on to pic's!
"I love playing with balls!"
"Daddy makes me smile...I love him so much!"
"I love reading about Noah, and how all the animals went on the ark 2 by 2."
"Which toy should I play with next?!"

Any suggestions?

Ok, so my son has now mastered rolling over. Now he is rolling over in the night and waking up crying. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting him used to sleeping on his stomach? I can't roll him back over every time he ends up on his stomach. He did it at 5:30a.m. and eventually went back to sleep on his stomach when I put his paci in. However, this mornings' nap has been a different story.

Back to bloggin 5 times a day

Oh yeah! We are back online! The internet guy came and connected us today. Hooray! So after I checked my e-mail, I went to the blog! I've missed reading about friends and relative's lives. And it came just in time for another story from me....
So my precious boy is growing up SOOOOO fast. He is sitting on his own, rolling over every 5 minutes and has even started to crawl. Now, before you get excited... this isn't what the books would call crawling. My boy sticks his face in the carpet and pushes hard with his legs. He actually moves and has his leg movements down right, but he is using his face instead of his hands. Silly boy, he'll figure it out sooner or later. His two bottom teeth are coming in nicely. It is so cute to see him smile. I'm going to miss those old man gums. Well onto my story... so we went to Linens'n'things the other day to get some curtain's because Ethan's room has a massive window that lets in all the afternoon sunlight. Well when I took him out of the carseat I noticed a stench. I flipped him over and saw the dreaded brown spot on his back. I told my husband that we have experienced a true diaper blowout. So we went into the store and went directly to the bathroom. I got him all out on the changing table and started to take his onesie off. When I got it over his head, I realized that due to his leak, I had just now spread poopy all up his back. We had quite the mess. So as I was wiping him off, I feel a warm sensation running down my hand. Oh yes, the fountain of pee had just sprung. I quickly shielded his pee pee and breathed a sigh of relief. Well I still had to clean the poopy all off his back. So I picked him up, turned him facing away from me and started wiping his back off and I felt another wet warm sensation. The boy spit up all over my arm and on the floor. WHAT OTHER BODY HOLE CAN SPEW NOW?! I thought to myself. There's no other thing that can flow out of a hole...he has done it all. Needless to say, it was a 20 minute clean up process. With a new diaper, a new dry outfit, and a cleaned up mess we exited the bathroom to meet daddy and shop for curtains. Fun times! I love my son so much and it is amazing to see how much he has changed just in the past 2 weeks. God is so amazing and faithful!!!!!! And I have another quick story to prove it.
A week and a half ago my husband and I were stranded at Target because my car wouldn't start. The in-laws loaned us their car for a week and God blessed our socks off with what happened with the repair. We had to get a new starter, a new belt, and an inspection and it all only cost us $65. We recently had the starter replaced and so we got it for free. Then Matt's dad went to pick the car up for us and the man that owns the shop and Matt's dad are good friends. Well he didn't know that when we dropped off the car that Matt was Eddie's son. So when they figured that out, the guy dropped the $185 bill down to $65! So we got all that work done for $65! God is so amazing and I truly want everyone to know that he has promised to meet your needs and we are living proof. There are countless times where He has blessed us more than we ever could come close to deserving. All glory to Him!
And of course, I can't post without a picture!

So many changes

Well on our way home after I posted last I noticed that Ethan's bottom two teeth are coming in. The whites of them are poking through the skin and you can definitely feel them! So many changes! So in one day (the day before he turned 6 months old) he rolled over during nap time and started getting two teeth!!!!
His 6 month check up went well. He is still above 97% of his peers in length (29.5 inches) and in the 90% for his weight (20lbs). He did great with the shots but we had some not so fun times in other areas. Let's just say I never knew boys could have a yeast infection. Especially one that warrants $50 prescription cream. Thankfully our pediatrician gave us some discount card and it only ended up costing us $10. (I thought it was just a diaper rash) AND then..... not to get too graphic.... his circumcision started "fusing" back together and the doctor had to "take care" of it. So our little boy was in some pain...... shots, 2 teeth coming in, yeast infection, circumcision issue. But he is SUCH a good baby!!!!!!!! God knew what I could handle and I PRAISE the Lord for our precious boy.
Matt and I want to freeze him. He is growing up so fast. We can see why people have babies to close together because once one starts growing up you want to have another tiny baby to love. (NO, NO we aren't even thinking of having another one any time soon) But we do have a new baby in our family. My brother's wife had her second baby about 3.5 weeks early. Both her and baby are doing fine and they are actually at home. I may get to go visit them today.
Well Matt starts his new temp. job today. God is so amazing and faithful. He has consistently provided for our needs. I am blown away by how a God could love us so much. Even when we consistently dishonor and turn away from Him. My husband preached a good message this past weekend at church. Go to
http://www.bridgecommunitychurch.net/ and click on PODCASTS to hear it. It should be up, but it might take a few days for them to post it. It was a message on Jesus Christ and why He is the only way to make us into a right relationship with God again.
Well I feel like i'm rambling. There is so much to say. But i'll end with some good news. We decided to get internet. It is definitely one of those modern technologies that we have to have. It was so hard for my husband to job hunt without the internet. And so many places want you to e-mail resumes and all this stuff. So we realized that we really needed to have it. Plus Matt does so much online research for sermons and school. So i'll be back blogging more faithfully (or is the word fanatically?)
Added bonus- Cheri's list of top 5 current fav's
1. breathable bumpers- great for your child's crib when they start sticking their legs through the slats. Ethan was waking up every night with his chubby legs out through the crib. These are AWESOME! Found at babiesrus for about $25.
2. bib placement- whenever I feed Ethan I put a cloth bib under his plastic one. So when he's done eating his fruits or veggies in the high chair, I simply take off the plastic bib and the cloth one is ready for him when he takes his bottle.
3. buttpaste- the BEST remedy for a diaper rash- unless it's really a yeast infection (see above)

4. teething beads- the old school necklace looking thing with colorful "beads"...Ethan LOVES it because one bead is big enough to fit in his mouth.
5. The boppy- great for learning to sit up. Because I had to stop breastfeeding I thought the boppy was useless. Well... I got it out and sat Ethan in the middle and it is great for learning to sit up. ALSO, great for tummy time when they get tired from holding themselves up.

I hope he always has that dimple!
"Look at me in my new big boy car seat!"
Tummy time on the boppy before church- he is learning to pick up the paci and put it in his mouth... he hasn't quite gotten it in his mouth right.

Our little boy is growing up!

I'm here at the church office checking my e-mail because we are too poor to afford internet right now, ha ha. But praise God for a way to check e-mail and BLOG! ;)
I cannot believe that tomorrow Ethan is turning 6 months old! He is growing up way too fast. His little personality is shining so much right now. He LOVES to laugh and loves to cuddle and receive kisses on his neck from mommy and daddy. He squeals in delight when we kiss his little neck and face. He is definitely a boy full of energy though. He LOVES his jumparoo and excersaucer. Right now he is sucking vigorously on his keys while I type this blog. Everytime I look over at him his face lights up with a smile. His smile is SO cute, with a little dimple and his gorgeous blue eyes just light up. Ok, now onto more bragging.... Matt and I were playing backgammon during what was supposed to be Ethan's morning nap. All of a sudden I heard screaming and crying... I ran in there and HE HAD TURNED OVER ON HIS TUMMY!!!!!!! While our poor son was crying from his face being jammed in the railings of his crib, Matt and I were jumping up and down with excitement and was so proud of our son. I then quickly picked him up to console him, he was like, "how the heck did I get on my tummy!" I could see some redness on his head where he had banged into the crib slats. This is the beginning of many more roll overs and injuries I guess.
Anyhow, I have loved having my husband home with us while he is temporarily without a job. We woke up this morning and went for a run with Ethan in his jogger. It was good to get out and get some exercise. I kept saying how I couldn't breathe very well and then I found out that we are under a code orange for breathing because it is so hot and whatnot. That could explain a lot. Anyhow, here are some random pictures from the past few weeks.

Side note of appreciation: THANK YOU to my in-laws who have shared their baby things with us. Ethan's bouncy seat, jumparoo, and exersaucer were loaned to us and we appreciate it greatly!!!!! :)

My cute boy!

All moved in... without internet

Well hello! It's been a while. A while for me, that is. We are finally moved into our new apartment closer to our church and family. I am SO happy to be here!!!! We were so ready for this. We are currently without internet and are debating using what little money we have to get some sort of internet service. It is amazing how you become so dependable on something like the internet with e-mail and whatnot. So I won't be blogging for a while or checking my e-mail, so don't count on that for communication with me. Ethan is doing great and growing SO much! I can't believe he will be 6 months old next week! We have to go to the pediatrician for another round of shots, yay. He does really well, so I can't complain and I know they are for his good. Well anyhow, I need to share the computer with my husband. We are using the church office for internet, so our time is limited. Until next time...

Tax Free

Hey all you North Carolinians, don't forget that this weekend is Tax Free weekend. I remember shopping when I was in high school...tax free on top of all the sales. It was great! Now that i'm a mom and need to save money, it just isn't even fun for me to go. Ha! I will probably end up going to just "check out the sales" then see something I absolutely have to have, call Matt to ask if I can buy it, he will say no and then i'll leave the store sad. It's inevitable. But I shouldn't complain because we just bought an armoire for the TV that was majorly on sale from Walmart. It was one of those things that we were walking around and just found it. Isn't that funny? When I was in high school and had to look for a prom dress or another formal dress I could NEVER find one or they did not have my size. It was when I WASN'T looking for a dress that I would find a cute one. Same thing with shoes. So we weren't looking for an armoire but found a beautiful one that was a great price. Funny thing is, it was a floor model so it was already put together. We had to call some wonderful friends of ours to use their SUV to bring it back and then Matt wasn't too happy about carrying it upstairs when next week we are just going to carry it back downstairs when we move. HA HA! I'm not really helping with the moving thing by adding to our load.

Speaking of moving... we have TONS to do and we're going to be out of internet for a while. So don't be sad, but I might have to wait a while for my next blog. I know, I know... I can picture it now. You will come on thinking, "wow, I wonder what Cheri has to blog about today... I can't wait to read and see all her pictures!" Then you will be sad to see that I haven't blogged in a while. But have no fear, I will return as soon as I can to bring you every detail of our household. Until then...

The Melting Pot

Yesterday was a wonderful day. So I proved the fortune cookie wrong. Ha. We went to the Melting Pot and had a wonderful evening. Matt even ordered a special package where we had a private table, roses, and we had our picture taken and they printed it off there and put it in a silver frame and brought it to us. It was a fun evening, especially once we got the hang of cooking our food. We had cheese fondue with vegetables and bread. Then I had a salad. Next came our entree where we got to cook our own chicken, steak, and terriyaki steak... then dessert was last. We barely had room for chocolate fondue with bananas, strawberries, brownie bites, pound cake bites, pineapple, and cheesecake. They also had these oreo covered marshmellows but we were TOO full to try. It took us about 2 hours to eat there and we had a wonderful night! So of course I took the camera and snapped some pictures. Good thing i'm a blogging addict because it has helped me to remember to take more pictures! Thank you sweetie for a great anniversary!
