Swelling

So it's official- I am having swelling problems. Nothing too bad, but my ankles are swelling every day now. I am so ready for him to be here!

Thanks to my wonderful husband who went and got carseats installed and inspected in both our cars! YAY! Love you sweetie!!! You are a wonderful husband and you are going to be a wonderful daddy!

Here are some pictures from my shower on Saturday. Shannon did a wonderful job and I absolutely loved it!!!!!
Here is the diaper cake she made... This is a game we played where I had to multi-task as a mom. I was holding a real baby, talking on the phone, and having to hang up laundry. Let's just say I didn't win!!! But the other girls cheated ;)
Here are a pack of sports onesies I got... If you know my husband at all, you will know that SPORTS is all this poor baby boy will see ;) These are also 6 month onesies... but at the rate my baby is growing, he will need this size at birth, HA!

So the shower was loads of fun. We also played baby scattegories using the initials in my name. I tied with a friend of mine, but I let her have my prize. We forgot to get a picture of all the girls that were there so that is a bummer, but it's all good. After the shower, 2 college girlfriends, my mom and I all went and got pedicures. I love it when they massage my feet. Anyhow, when I first took my shoes and socks off I noticed that my ankles were swollen. I haven't had any swelling problems yet so this was a real shock. The lady there was so funny about my swelling ankles. She insists that I am going to have the baby in 2 weeks because she swole up 2 weeks before her baby came. Ha.
Overall it was a great day and now I have cute feet!

SNOW

So it finally happened this winter... we got our snow this morning! I got up and saw all the white and thought that surely school would be cancelled. I checked the news and nothing so far. So I got ready and continued to check throughout the morning... still no word. So I go outside to leave for work and there is snow everywhere... covering the roads. Yet still no closing. It is only when i'm on the highway going 30 mph because of all the cars going slow in the snow, about a few miles from my school that they finally announce it on the radio. So I turned around and went home. My husband eventually got home from his morning shift and we've been snuggling in bed and sleeping the whole morning. I could go in for a workday but I don't want to. I can make it up because I get to school so early every morning. I am allowed to keep track of time and make up the day. So anyhow, that is our latest fun. Not sure what the rest of the day will bring. I know this weekend will bring more snow as well as a baby shower for me! YAY! I have 2 more showers left that I know of. It is so nice and such a blessing to have loving people around me that throw showers for our baby boy.
p.s. Only like 2 infant car seats passed the latest inspection, so check before you buy!

Remodeling

So it is my day off for Martin Luther King Jr. day and I decided to make some changes on the ol' blog. We'll see how I like it. I am in this make changes, get organized, nesting stage that I believe comes with pregnancy. I have wanted to clean out every closet, organize, and clean like crazy. This is not a bad thing, however my husbands seminary books and notebooks and whatever has thrown up all over our room. We just bought another book shelf to put up to hopefully remedy this problem. He said, "at least it is out of our dining room." I was like, yes, but I would like it all cleaned up and not in our bedroom now. Funny how men and women think so differently. Sort of like (in my cleaning stage) I asked him if he would go through his closet and take out any clothes he doesn't wear so we can donate them. Out of his whole stinkin' closet he got 5 shirts. I was thinking (wow, there's still 50 more we can get rid of) when he was thinking (dude, my wife is going to be so proud, I got rid of 5 shirts!) I was proud of him, but let's just say, we'll be going through his closet again soon ;) ha ha. I LOVE YOU SWEETIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the season premiere of 24 was last night. If you are not watching this show you are not a true American. Ha, just picking... it is the best show EVER!!!!!!!!! We have been waiting for this ever since last season ended. My husband and I rarely watch TV, we don't have cable or anything, but this is the one show we enjoy and we are excited that it has started up again. However, my husband informed me that I cannot have the baby on a Monday because then we'll miss a show. I guess i'll have to talk to the baby about the proper time to come..... which by the way, can be any day now! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot wait to see him.
p.s. His name is Ethan Michael--unless something dramatically changes, like a guy named Ethan is trying to kill Jack Bauer on 24 ;) ha ha ha ha.

Go CANES- part 2

Well the game was awesome last night! We had really good seats and the Canes actually won 4-2! Not only that, but I was on the jumbo tron! During the first period some of the cheerleaders called the "storm squad" came up to me and congratulated me and said the camera would be on me in a few minutes. So my husband and I stood up and they announced me being the educator of the night and we stood there and waved for about 30 seconds- then they saw my awesomely creative shirt and zoomed in on it and everyone went "awwwww!" It was so much fun! After that it was like I was a celebrity. Everyone was coming up to me and saying Hi and congratulations. I went out to use the restroom and a guy came up to me and says, "HEY! Future caniac! I saw you on TV!" I just smiled and said Yep! We got a lot of comments on my shirt before and after the highlight. Then on our way home my brother-in-law called and said that they actually said my name and showed my name on the real TV! What a fun night!!!!!! We enjoyed ourselves and it was neat just to be there. My husband thinks I should e-mail them and tell them that us being there was the reason they won (they had been on a losing streak). I guess he is hoping for more free tickets! HA! Well i'm off... i'll take autographs later ;)

Go CANES!

Fun News... my husband entered me into a drawing on the Carolina Hurricanes website and I won! I am tonight's "educator of the night". We won 2 tickets and i'm not sure what else we won. I could end up on the jumbo-tron or riding on the zamboni! We are excited. On our way back from eating a picnic at a nearby lake we stopped at Walmart and I bought a plain red t-shirt. I came back and made a shirt that says, "Future Caniac" and an arrow pointing at my now very large stomach! Hee hee! I love it. If I can figure out how to post another picture soon then I will post one of me wearing it. So tonight should be fun. We've been having a lot of "date nights" lately because we know life will get a bit hectic here very soon.
On a different note- ahhhh, gestational diabetes. What can I say, it's.... fun?! NOT!!!! First let me start out by saying that we are very blessed and this pregnancy has been a wonderful one. However, I got a call Thursday from my diabetes doctor and she told me that the diet I am on is not working well and my numbers are too high ( I don't know how that is possible when all I seem to eat lately is grass!) ha ha. So she wanted to start me on a pill to help... next step if this doesn't work is insulin shots. So please pray the pill works. I only have a few more weeks to go, so I am hoping this will be it. ANYHOW, so I started my pill on Friday. Well lets just say that the little warning about your body sugar suddenly dropping if you don't eat an adequate snack is VERY TRUE! I was sitting at my desk at 8:30 Friday morning getting ready to go on our field trip to the planetarium when all of a sudden I started profusely sweating.... then I started shaking. I thought to myself... "self, this is not good!" So I checked my sugar and it had dropped to 51!!!! Normal range should be 70-120. I mean you can read what I just read over and over again and try to picture it, but it will never give the full effect. I had a student run across the hall and get a fellow teacher and I started downing food and juice. 2 Caprisons, wheat thins, and a small butterfinger later I was fine. But let me tell you how scary that was! So now I need to be real careful and make sure I eat a large snack within 3 hours of taking my medicine in the morning. Yay for fun times. But praise the Lord for this baby boy that I feel moving every day inside of me. I cannot wait for him to get here!!!!!!

Fun times!

So it has been a great holiday. New Year's was fun... we hung out with some great friends and played cards. It is hard to believe it is 2007!
My husband and I made a wager... if I can get down to 135 lbs after the baby is born then we will go on another cruise. To make that even more fun, we might have convinced some friends to go with us! HOW STINKIN' AWESOME! First of all, I would love to get down to that weight so it would be an incentive. Plus I would LOVE to go on a cruise again. Then factor in going on a cruise with friends... it just doesn't get any better! So we'll see what happens.
So pricking my finger and doing the whole diabetes thing hasn't been too bad. I am actually eating very well. Now I can't say my numbers have been that great but most of that is due to the fact that we spent 4 days in the mountains with my family and my dad is the best cook ever. His meals aren't exactly carb free. But my husband and I went to the grocery store yesterday and stocked up on a lot of good sugar free and carb free foods.
Other fun news, I have been getting braxton hicks contractions like crazy. Hard to believe the time is fast approaching. We had our first birthing class last week and it was fun. Made it even more real. Our instructor is a little interesting but it is very beneficial. Tomorrow we get to watch a live birth video, tour our birthing center, and talk about pain meds! I am trying to post a picture of me being huge but I haven't been able to. I am not exactly technology savvy.
Well i'm off for now....
