4H
Back in September a friend of ours, Megan, got a job as the 4H coordinator for an Elementary School in Orem. She knew that I did theatre in high school so she asked me if I wanted to be the group leader for a club. I thought it sounded pretty fun so I said sure.
So I found myself in charge of 13 kids between 4th and 6th grade. We had good times as we learned about Upstage Left and Down Center Stage. I (kind of) taught them how to project their voices. We even did a few improv games. Then came the time to decide what we were going to do for our Parent Showcase. Well it made sense to have them put on a play but the tough part was figuring out what play. It could only be about 10 minutes because all of the other clubs were doing something for their parents too. So I decided to bring out the Shakespeare in me and write a play. It's called the 3 Wolves. It's the stories of the 3 Little Pigs mixed with Little Red Riding Hood and the Boy Who Cried Wolf. We'll see how it goes since 2 of the kids have moved, another told the other kids that I was "stupid" and quit coming and another just stopped showing up. I've combined as many parts as I could but if on Dec. 2nd a kid doesn't show up I just might have to make an appearance on stage... let's hope they all show!
So that's my story. It's been a lot of fun but a little stressful as well so I don't think that I'll be able to do it again next semester.

Another Win
This was posted on Thursday on the other blog that Sara has created for us. I wasn't paying attention when I was clicking around in Dashboard.
John told me that he lost one game in the middle of the day yesterday but I watched another of his games last night and they pulled off a thrilling last minute win. I saw him score a couple baskets at the beginning and a steal (or pass from the other team right to him) later on. He looked pretty good. I was talking to him after the game while we had a Jamba, he needs to be a little more aggressive on the rebounds but I really can't say much, I wasn't the most intense basketball player (unless you count my two steals I had in church ball).
Just FYI: I have a meeting with the counselors at 4 and then dinner. After dinner we are with the campers. Basketball has practice/games until 9 so we just watch. Other sports have free time we have to figure out what to do, like play games or go get ice cream.
