Our friends down the street invited us to come meet Santa and Mrs. Clause at their house. It was a lot of fun and the couple was very cute. I am glad that William and Mary were such good kids this year.

Open thy hand wide
I have no picture to go with this, but Monday on our way to piano I had to fill up my car with gas. Sitting on some steps to an abandoned building next to the pump was a very dirty, homeless man. To my embarrasement my first response was fear. As I got in to drive away I remembered that I had grabbed a candy bar before I left that I was going to eat while waiting for my kids. I handed it to William and asked him to give it to the man sitting on the steps. He did and off we drove to piano. Instead of waiting for them I went to a local store and bought a few pieces of fruit, some bread, and juice. When piano was finished we drove back to the man. The kids were scared to get out so I gave him the food that we had bought. On the drive home we talked about the man, the things that we are grateful for, and thanked Heavenly Father for our blessings. William noted that when he gave him the candy bar the man had opened and eaten about half the candy bar before he had even gotten back into the car. He then mentioned that the man must have been really hungry. We were glad that we took him more food. My heart ached for this poor man, and yet was overwhelmed with gratitude for the bouny in which I live. One of my favorite scriptures is in Dueteronomy where it talks about opening thy hand wide so that the poor may have all that they want. My pitify offering wasn't even close to his needs let alone his wants, but I was grateful to share even a meager offering and a teaching moment with my kids, and will do better at not taking my blessings for granted. Heavenly Father has truly given us so much.
